JuLong stretched out on a beach towel, enjoying the warm sun as he covered his head with another towel. He had been so on and off these days when it came to withdrawal symptoms, he was just happy he could enjoy the sun. He wasn't in the best of moods, especially since he had been fighting all morning with Li, but he had been able to talk with Tillie for a little bit (who, surprisingly, was totally accepted by his mom without them even meeting) and she was coming to meet with him sometime that day. He was feeling a little listless now, and just wanted some rest. Since it looked so nice outside, he figured why not enjoy it. His ability to enjoy the day turned sour as the towel over his head was yanked away. "不偷所有的沙滩巾 (Don't steal all the beach towels)." Li growled to him, going to the other end of the backyard before laying out the towel and laying down on it, pulling a new issue of Seventeen magazine out of one of her back pockets. "仍在等待贾斯汀比伯单身 (Still waiting for Justin Beiber to be single)?" JuLong teased his little sister, a playful smile on his face even though his eyes were pained from the sudden sun. Li let out an annoyed sigh and looked over to him, popping a bubble gum bubble JuLong hadn't noticed her chewing on before. "最后一次,我恨贾斯汀比伯! 不要假装你知道我! (For the last time, I hate Justin Beiber! Stop pretending you know me!)" She growled, her voice getting louder. JuLong sat up on his elbows, still squinting from the glare of the sun, his smile slowly disappearing, "好吧,好吧,对不起。你使它看起来像犯罪。。 (Okay, okay, sorry. You make it seem like a crime.)" He replied defensively, holding up his hands as if surrendering. "这是当它是你 (It is when it's you)!" Li yelled back. "Why won't you just forgive me?" JuLong asked her, looking at her guiltily. "You know why." Li hissed back to him in an angered tone. "对不起 (I'm sorry)..." Julong began, but was cut off. "Don't even." Li growled to him. "You say you quit but you're almost worse now! You walk around the house yelling at everyone! I hate you!" She yelled back to him. "I quit so I can be 一个更好的人 (a better person)!" JuLong protested back. "In my eyes, the second you decided to even try crack, you were the 更糟糕的人的类型 (worse type of person)." Li scolded him, for the first time since before JuLong had begun using five years ago, she looked like she wanted her oldest brother by her side, and tears were in her eyes, but she'd never let them fall. It was that look that hurt JuLong the most, especially knowing he caused it. "I made a huge mistake..." He told her softly. "And I know 你会原谅我的唯一途径是随着时间的推移 (the only way you'll forgive me is with time)..." He told her, biting his lip. "But mei mei (younger sister), I'm sorry." He buried his head in his arms, breathing in the freshly-cut grass through the towel. "I'm sick of being... 无法忍受 (intolerable), too. I want it to stop... 我恨它,当我们打 (I hate it when we fight)..." He told her sadly. "Ge (older brother), I hate fighting you too..." She admitted, almost too softly for JuLong to even hear. "These withdrawals..." JuLong let out a bitter laugh. "它真的 (It's really) like death sometime..." He told her, biting his lip. He was tired, too tired for arguing anymore, he just wanted rest. He buried his head deeper into his arms, letting out a tired sigh.

Tillie practically skipped down the streets to get to JuLong's place. Normally, she would drive, but she didn't have her car yet, she was still saving up for it unfortunately. She didn't mind though. It gave her some things to think about for when she did get there. What would they talk about? What would his family be like? Would his family even like her? She was the weird type...then again, JuLong seemed pretty strange himself, so they were probably used to strange people like herself.
After crossing probably five or six streets, Tillie was finally in front of the address that matched what JuLong told her in his earlier text. She went up to the front door, about to knock, when she suddenly heard yelling. Yelling in Chinese. "JuLong?" she mumbled, turning her body towards the gate leading to the backyard. She leaned her ear up next to it, trying to get a better listen. Just to see if she could understand any words he's taught her so far. She did hear some words in English, but not many. Like, something about hating JuLong. Who could hate someone like JuLong? she pondered in her head as she continued to listen with a scrunched up face. Quit so he could be--what? She mouthed out the words, wishing she knew more Chinese than just the basic words she knew now. What did he quit? Tillie was growing more and more worried about this whole argument now. She didn't know what to think, or even if she should still go in there. "What the hell?" she sighed, moving back to the front door and pressing the doorbell without any hesitation. Right now, all she wanted was to see JuLong again. And to meet his family too, of course.

Mrs. Wu perked her head up as the doorbell rang. "沉,亲爱的,你明白了吗 (Shen, sweetie, can you get that)? I('m) busy right now." She asked her middle child, who was lazily looking over his English books at the kitchen table. Shen nodded and went to the door, opening it only to be faced with a foreign girl he'd never seen before. Startled, it took a second for him to remember to speak English. "C-can I help you?" He asked her, looking at her with wide-eyes.
"Ge (older brother), don't ignore me.." Li called over to JuLong, looking at him with the same sad face she had only a little while ago. "现在我想休息的权利 (I want to rest right now)." JuLong replied simply, his voice showing just how tired he was. Li bit her lip, noticing Shen walk past to go to the front door, and she watched curiously, leaning to try to see who was at the door.

Tillie was just as shocked to see someone other than JuLong answer the door. "Oh, hi. Is JuLong here? I'm, uh, a friend of his. I'm Tillie." she grinned a bit wider as she held out a hand to the boy in front of her. "So...is JuLong home right now? Or am I just standing here foolishly like always?" she asked again, giggling slightly in the end.

Shen blinked a couple times before shaking her hand and letting out a small chuckle, "Oh... yeah... I'm Shen, his younger brother." He explained to her. "Uh... come in... Take off your shoes." He told her, moving so she could come in. "Shen? 是谁呢 (Who is it)?" Mrs. Wu asked, drying her hands on a towel as she came into the hallway. "哥哥的朋友 (It's a friend of older brother)... I guess." Shen responded to his mother, pointing his mother's attention to Tillie. Mrs. Wu's eyes lit up. "Oh~! Are you Tillie? JuLong tell me so much about you. Good thing, many good thing. You really are cute~" She cooed, giving Tillie a hug without letting Tillie get a word in edgewise. "very cute. Good choice for my son." She said, all smiles. "Ma*..." Shen grumbled, pulling at his mother's shirt lightly. "Hmm?" Mrs. Wu asked, looking to her son and finally leaving Tillie alone. "你扼杀她。(You're stifling her)." He replied simply, letting out a small chuckle. "Oh!" Mrs. Wu looked to Tillie, giving her a sweet smile and a pat on the shoulder, "Sorry. You just very cute." She leaned in close to Tillie. "Almost cuter than my daughter." "Ma~!" Shen groaned, practically pulling his mother back to the kitchen. "Sorry about her, JuLong is out back." He told Tillie simply, pointing in the direction of the back yard.
JuLong felt like he was nearly asleep before suddenly getting hit with something. "Wha-?" He muttered incoherently before realizing the magazine had been thrown at him. "你为什么打我吗 (Why'd you hit me)?" He asked his sister, who was glaring at him again. "我想有一个心脏,心脏,你落在我睡着 (I'm trying to have a heart-to-heart and you fall asleep on me?) I hate you!" She growled to him. "Heart to heart?" JuLong asked, tilting his head. "I thought we (were) done talk(ing)?" He asked his sister. "去找你那愚蠢的drugs (Go find your stupid drugs)." She growled to him, putting her head on her arms bitterly. "I don't even know where to find a drug dealer here!" Julong told her, finally letting his voice go higher than it had been. "所以,不要假设我还是做药物 (So stop assuming I still do drugs)! I'm done with that life, mei mei (littler sister)." He yelled to her. "我不会相信你,直到你可以说你将永远停止 (I won't believe you until you can say you'll stop forever)." Li muttered, acting liek she had been scolded after JuLong raised his voice to her. "你知道吗 (You know) I can't... I want to but that's... 压倒性 (overwhelming)... to think about." He told her, also getting quieter again.
((Another long post, sorry. ><;; But um for the *, Mama is actually mom in Chinese. Ma is like saying mother. From what I understand, at least. o3o; ))

Tillie did as she was told, and slid out of her shoes with ease and kicked them aside where it seemed like the rest of the families shoes were lying. She gave the smallest flinch when Mrs. Wu came trotting up to her all excited-like, then. She relaxed much quicker than some people would though, glad to know the mother was very friendly at least. Shen seemed just a little 'odd' in her opinion. Or in this case, 'normal'. Tillie preferred odd people, coming from her own personality. "It's nice to meet you too." she giggled after Mrs. Wu finally stopped speaking and let her body free again. "You seem quite cute too, actually. I can see where JuLong gets it from." she gave a small giggle.
After Tillie was called away from the anxious mother, she quickly followed Shen to the backyard where he told her JuLong was at the moment. She had barely taken three steps outside then, when she overheard another argument take place, causing her to stop in her steps. "Drugs?" She questioned a bit too loud. "JuLong? You--you do drugs?" she asked, a bit more anxiously now, as she took a running start towards her boyfriend. "Why didn't you tell me?" she asked again, more stern, as she leaned down next to him so they could be face to face. "JuLong, I--Why would you do such a thing? I thought you were better than that!" she said again, giving him a light push in the shoulder, feeling a bit annoyed, and frustrated now. Something she rarely ever felt with anyone.

JuLong's eyes got wide as he heard a familiar voice, and he got onto his hands and knees when he noticed Tillie standing there. He almost forgot to pay attention to what she was asking about he was so shocked to see her. He sat back on his legs as his hands balled into fists and he glanced at first to Li, who had gone silent as she watched on, before looking to the ground and taking a hesitant breath. "I... I use(d) to..." He admitted finally. "I didn't tell because I didn't know how..." He told his girlfriend honestly, biting his lip. He looked to her with a sort of desperation in his eyes, "I didn't mean to lie I just didn' know how to tell and it all is so confusing.." He looked back to the ground and let out another frustrated breath as he moved so he had his legs pulled up and his arms around them, and he rested his head on his knees, still feeling groggy and tired and like he needed a fix. 停止它,这是怎样钻进这个烂摊子 (Stop it, that's what got you into this mess)... He thought, banishing the thought before it even had a chance to fully form. "I don't now... Back in China I did..." He finally finished. "所以你说 (So you say)." Li grumbled just loud enough for her brother to hear as she got comfortable again on her own towel. "这是真的 (It's true)!" JuLong growled back to his sister, quickly turning to glare at her, but then biting his lip again as he realized aggression was probably not the best route to go at the moment.

Tillie's expression hadn't changed at all through what he was telling her. She didn't even bother to correct his English she was so frustrated with him. She watched as he and his sister quarreled with each other for a second, and rolled her eyes at them right before she shoved JuLong again, having him face her and her only. "JuLong! I don't care if you didn't know how to put it! I mean, surely there was someway you could of told me! You figured out how to ask me out, didn't you?! I still understood what you were saying, even if it was in crappy English." She continued yelling at him, shaking her head slightly as she took a small pause. "JuLong, I already told you plenty about me. You should know how much the truth means to me. Say it like it is. That's what I do." She didn't even care if his siblings were still standing there, staring at her. Nothing like that ever stopped her before, why should it now? Even if her yelling was loud enough for his mother to hear. She was doing what she did best. Speaking her mind.

JuLong seemed shocked as he got pushed by Tillie. His eyes displayed the guilt he had for not telling her, and he had no words for what she was telling him. It was true, even though he didn't know the proper words at the time, he should have told her. He buried his face, "I'm sorry..." He told Tillie, his voice sounding as disappointed as he felt. He looked back up at her, eyes desperate. "I made (a) mistake, please Tillie, please forgi(ve) me... I won't lie anymore." He promised her. He moved so he was sitting cross-legged, hands going to hers. "Please listen." He begged her, looking her in the eyes. "In my hometown, I made (a lot of) mistake(s). I met wrong people, and became a bad person, too." He looked away, "I did use... um..." He faltered for the word, but his sister beat him to it. "Crack." She piped in with a smirk. She seemed to be enjoying watching her brother get his just reward. "... Yes." He muttered, glaring at Li momentarily before returning his attention to Tillie. "I was addict. I did many bad things. Hurt myself, hurt my family. Now, I am start(ing) over." He smiled a little as he told her he was trying to start anew, and he showed her the small tattoo (续借) over his heart. "This is xu jie. It mean to restart. It is promise to myself." He explained. "I am no longer... no longer a drug user." He told her, trying to get his English correct.
((case you're curious, it's pretty much pronounced shoe-jay. :3))

Tillie's face seemed to be fallen flat, even as JuLong tried explaining it all to her. When he took his hands, Tillie felt herself flinch slightly. She even tried pulling her hands away from him, but couldn't get the courage to, not at the moment anyway. With her face still as flat as ever, she rolled her eyes with a sigh when he glared momentarily at his sister. Although, all that changed when JuLong moved his hands to show Tillie the tattoo located on his chest. And as he (tried) explaining to her what it said, as well as meant to him, she felt her heart soften up a bit. More and more as he went on. "Okay..." Tillie finally put out, her voice still a bit raspy from staying silent for so long. She cleared her throat before adding in something else. "Just as long as you promise, though. I know I'm easy to forgive...but just remember that I don't forget. If you screw up one more time though, or if I ever find out you try using again....I'll have no choice but to leave you for good. I may be a cute goofball...but I'm not stupid. You should know that."

Julong lowered his gaze to the ground again, looking like he a scolded puppy. "I know... I will not betray your trust again..." He promised her, moving one hand so he could get their fingers into a pinky promise. "I promise. You and mei mei (little sister)." He told her, looking to his sister as he mentioned her. "But I am still.. withdrawal.. have a lot of..." He tried, but seemed to fail at saying what he wanted. "He's still having symptoms of withdrawals." Li told Tillie with a roll of her eyes, burying her face again in an attempt to sleep. JuLong nodded. "Lately I have get (I've been) angry, or very tired. But I am going to be okay." He explained to Tillie. He pointed to his towel and smiled a little, "I was resting before you come."

Tillie's mouth slowly started to form a gentle smile again as he hooked their pinky's together. "I get it." she said with a subtle giggle, glancing over to Li then back to JuLong. "You're having withdrawals. And I will be more than happy to help you with that, too. Only if you want though..." she smirked. She raised one brow up then, "You were resting? That's funny, because by the look of it, it looked like you were having an argument with your sister. Um..that's your sister right? I haven't exactly met her yet." she shrugged, whispering in the last couple parts to him.

JuLong looked down at the towel, "I don't want to hurt you..." He muttered to her. "I already hurt my sister..." He muttered sadly, his face showing just how regretful he was of the broken relationship. "I'm Li, the youngest of the family." Li piped up at Tillie's questioning, giving her a small smile before burying her face again. JuLong smiled bitterly, "We fight a lot, it often make me sad. But I made my mistake and now I am work(ing) to fix them." He told Tillie.

"Nice to meet you too, Li." Tillie said with a smile back on her face as she turned back to JuLong again. "And I think you mean, you are working on it." she said, finally agreeing to correct his English again. "You sir, still have a lot of practice to do with your English." she told him, raising her finger up at him playfully. "I am glad you're working on your differences though." she turned to Li then. "I never had siblings, er, well, biological siblings anyway, but I can imagine that its never fun to argue and fight with them."

JuLong sighed, "I know. My siblings are both better than I am." He admitted to Tillie. He looked up at her, wide eyed, "Actually, I am very glad for siblings, even if they don't like me right now. When we were young, I was very good brother and I love them very much still even if they don't like me anymore." He rambled. He looked over to Li, "Shen is a little forgiv(ing), but Li because she look up to me... I really hurt her. I think it will take long time to forgive me." He explained, then looked to Tillie, "Because I don't want you to stop love(ing) me, I will not lose your trust like I did my siblings." He told her finally.
