Garret shrugged. "Well I'm all out of advice and I guess I should get to class, I'm already in enough trouble for being late and skipping school and what not." He took her hand, though he didn't need it. "You sure you're alright? I'm a jerk at the best of times, but just tell me off like you did in the cafeteria and I'll usually sober up." He looked her over, wondering how badly she'd hurt him if he hugged her. He didn't give himself a lot of time and put his arm around her shoulder, giving her a short squeeze.

Aya had to smirk at that though, she hadn't expected him to even offer any advice, granting none of his advice had helped much but the fact that he had listened to her complain and whine and rant, was enough for her. Garret was totally forgiven even if nobody had to know that. "I'll be sure to remember that." She muttered. Aya had opened her mouth to say something but was surprised into silence when his arm curled around her shoulder and she was caught in Garret's embrace. At first she didn't know what to do, but her resolve had disappeared and she put her arms around his waist and curled her head into the crook of his shoulder, breathing softly. "Thank you." Her voice was barely above a whisper but she knew he had heard her, and that was enough.

Garret kept his arm around her, surprised that she hadn't brushed him off or told him off for being so bold. "You're welcome." He mumbled opening the door that led to the final floor. "You still mad at me?" He asked, finally accepting that he and Aya would only be friends.

She kept one arm around his waist as she shouldered her bag and glanced at him. "No, after what you did for me? You're totally forgiven." Aya smiled a bit as she took her first steps back into reality, her shoulders feeling lighter, her entire being feeling a little more relaxed. All thanks to Garret. "So why don't you put in any effort when you play? I'm pretty sure you'd be fantastic if you actually tried."

Garret laughed. "I didn't do anything." He chuckled and shook his head. "And I put some effort into my game, I just don't see the point, the rest of the team blows, my own brother can't hit a ball to save his life, maybe if we actually get some decent players I might actually put the effort in it. And believe me I'm better than fantastic." As they got to the next floor Garret caught site of one of the school administrators. "Uh, Aya, I gotta bolt."

Aya stopped and faced him, she was smiling. "You listened to me, with no pity or prejudice. You listened and that does count for something." She snorted in disgust. "Have you ever stopped to think that maybe if their captain would get his act together, they'd be more inspired to play? I swear to god, I'd talk to Monte and convince him to play if it means you'd actually stop throwing like such a pansy." She too saw the beady glare of the teacher and she was thankful that her class was right next to her, the door to the left. "Alright... Thanks Garret, really. "She leaned up on the tips of her toes and kissed his cheek before releasing him and turning to open the door, slipping inside.

Garret turned, hoping to keep the teacher he was trying to avoid from spotting him and recognizing him. "Hey, not a problem." He wanted to add more, but he could feel those eyes on the back of his neck. For a second he almost forgot that he had to run when she kissed him on the cheek. "Catch you around." He had a grin on his face. "Mr. Walker!" Came the administrator's voice from down the hall. "I'm going, I'm going." He mumbled, then the bell rang, signifying that he was late. "Not fast enough, down to my office now, we'll rearrange your detention schedule..." Garret groaned and did as he was told.

Yume and Jackie both grinned at Aya as she came in late, apologizing to the teacher as she took her seat in between the two girls. "We didn't think you'd show really." Yume murmured as Aya took out her text book and her notebook and started jotting down notes. She wasn't really listening to Yume, there was a tiny smile on her face. She had seen Garret get caught and felt guilty about it, but she had also seen the stunned smile on his handsome features and that made her giddy which had freaked her out until she decided to just live in the moment. She would definitely have to make it up to him.

Grady stood behind the counter of the student affairs office and chuckled as he watched Garret come through the door. "Surprised you aren't headed to the hospital." Grady raised an eyebrow. "What are you doing in here again?" He asked. "I'm late." Garret chimed, walking directly into the office he'd frequented over and over again. "Why exactly would I be headed to the hospital?" He asked, calling out to his brother. "Cause supposedly Aya isn't someone you want to mess with, the way they were talking, she was going to kick your ass." He chuckled. "Well she didn't and I think I patched things up...she's not even mad..."
Grady went back to his filing as the administrator walked through the door and into her office, closing the door behind her. Garret came out five minutes later. "Another week, what's new?" He waved the paper around and leaned against the counter. "She kissed me dude." Grady laughed. "Uh huh, you might want to go before they pull you off the team."

Aya's afternoon classes had ended with no interruption. It had been a boring and productive afternoon. She stood up as the teacher to her last class dismissed her and the rest of the students. She turned to watch Jackie stretch and yawn while Yume got her bag and her things. "So do you guys want to go get a milkshake or something?" She offered as she ran her fingers through her messy hair. Yume smiled apologetically. "Sorry Aya, Jack's picking me up and we're going out. Maybe some other time? You know how I love those milkshakes." Aya grinned and nodded before turning her gaze on Jackie. "Sorry dudette, I have to find my wayward brother and bring him home before he locks himself in the music room again." She snorted in disgust at the two of them. "Really, you're making this up to me." And they laughed after promising to go out with her next time. She picked up her things and headed to her locker, deciding to put away most of her school books since they didn't really have any homework for the day. She hummed softly as she opened her locker with the combination she had used since grade school, putting all her books in save for the tiny book she had been reading earlier.
Aya sighed in relief as she made her way to the front of the school without any difficulty. She had avoided the rush of students as they all made their way to their lockers and she safely got outside without any hassle. Time to read.

Garret made it through the rest of his day without incident, he still had detention to attend, but lucky for him it didn't start for another fifteen minutes, Garret had learned it was because the guy running it, wanted a cigarette break or something. He stepped outside and spotted Aya sitting reading. "Wouldn't it be warmer to read at home or inside?" He asked, stepping up right beside her then sat down.

Aya twitched when she heard his voice, she spun around surprised at him. "What are you doing? Aren't you supposed to be in detention?" She paused and closed her book on her finger to save the page. "I like the cold if you haven't noticed. Besides, there are too many students rushing around inside and I don't like going home so early when my entire family is there to coddle me." She offered him a tiny smile. "Sorry about the detention thing..."

Garret grinned and pointed across the parking lot. "You see that tiny wisp of smoke, you almost can't see it, and I know you can't see it when the ground is covered in snow, but it's there..." He put his hand down. "That's the detention teacher and a handful of janitors smoking." He tilted his head and smirked. "Technically detention starts five minutes after the bell rings, but with this clown running the show it starts fifteen minutes, so I'm good until I see that guy headed this way." He reached over, put his finger the place she was holding and took the book from her, reading the title. "Is this any good?" He asked, not that he'd read it. "Don't worry about the extra detention sentence, at the rate I'm headed, I'll be in detention until the day I graduate."

Aya gave him the book, positive he wouldn't understand the title. "It's a book written by a Filipino author; stole it from Yume actually." She had been pilfering many of Yume's Bob Ong books to read during her quiet time. She gestured to a space beside her, offering him a seat for 15 minutes. "Well I want to make it up to you. My mom's hosting a party-picnic thing at the park this week. You should invite everyone you know, my mom says it's a great way to meet new people so she set up the entire thing."

Garret sat and returned her book to her. "Filipino huh? Well it's easy to say I won't be enjoying it." He grinned and watched her as she spoke. "I suppose I can make it and I'll make sure everyone I know is there." He grinned. "Want me to invite the kids in detention with me?" He asked, joking. "So have you told your family how much you hate being coddled?"
