Cameron leaned in even more, his lips almost touching hers, his eyelids heavy as a cocky smirk traced his mouth. "Oh believe me Chelsea of New York, you would have gotten a lot more if you had just asked me nicely." He felt her hand close over his and he chuckled in amusement; it was either this girl had been really lonely or she was just like that. Knowing that nothing good would have come out of waiting and seeing what she would do, Cameron slowly pulled away, taking one reluctant step after the other. "So... As you can obviously see, I am in no position to tour you around Riverside this very moment, but we can walk around this lake until you get dizzy from the circles. I promise not to run, seeing as you really suck at that. "He said, ending in a laugh.

Feeling his breath against her mouth, Chelsea was this close to just grabbing Cameron and kissing him. Thisclose. She watched his lips move, and responded back, "Duly noted." As he pulled away, she rocked forward on her hips, propelled by his gravity, before allowing the connection to break. There was a fleeting moment of embarassment when she realized what she probably would either tried to do herself or let him get away with, had the opportunity presented itself, and she shook her head to clear her thoughts. "Don't make fun of me," she elbowed him in the ribs. "I. Don't. Run. How about one trip around the lake, then I'll head home and try not to mope anymore, and you can keep running. Then, when you are in a position to take me out, you'll call me?"

He chuckled at her actions before he moved to her side and linked arms with her. "Oh I wasn't making fun of you,", it sounded like a lie though as he laughed at her attempt to elbow him in the ribs. "And yes we have established that fact quite well; really running would probably put a lot more people in danger so please... please... don't run." Cameron considered her request and nodded his reply. "Mmm, that would be perfect. The trail was a considerably long one and that would give him enough time to ask her over-personal questions and make fun of her running even more.

"Shut up," Chelsea grumbled at him. "I'm sure if I had a legit reason to run, like being chased by a psycho killer, I would." She placed her hand at the crook of his elbow when he linked his arm through hers, and began singing to herself again, "You can't always get what you want... No you can't always get what you want... But if you try sometimes you just might find... You get what you need..." Gazing up at Cameron, Chelsea studied his face, his jawline, his eyes. He very obviously had his outgoing, flirtatious streak, but she sensed that there was more there, something he didn't want just anyone to see. She took a gamble on a sensitive subject. "So, stop me if it's something you don't want to talk about, but you said you lost your old home in a hurricane?"

Cameron laughed. "But then it wouldn't be all you, would it? It would be the adrenaline running through your veins. Really, how can you not run, it's a great feeling." He paused in mid-ramble as she started to sing and he looked down at her, grinning. How could pipes like that come from a girl like her? She was pretty good. "You really are a rocker huh? You have a good voice; my family's musically inclined. I probably skipped the meeting when God doled out those talents."
He turned his head and went back to walking in silence; he had the feeling of being stared out however and looked back at her to see he was under great scrutiny. "You know it's rude to stare right? And well the story's pretty interesting actually. You know how I live with my aunt and her family? Well we had a home in MABTown, not too far from here I think. But we had to move because her youngest daughter was very sick and she wanted all of us to be there for Aya... Kinda like a support system, you know? So we moved for Aya and when she was well and we were all ready to move back home, the hurricane hit." He shrugged. "It destroyed everything and even if we witnessed the hurricane's capability for destruction, my aunt still got us a house by the beach." Cam shook his head in amusement.

She listened to the story about the hurricane, and couldn't help but smile at the irony of living in a beach house. "That's like people who hate snow, but have ski chalets in Colorado." "Might be rude to stare, but at least I like what I'm looking at. And yep, my family bleeds rock. My sister and I are a little more punk, my parents are more blues and classic rock. And thank you. Are you the only one not musically inclined, then? Oh, and hey, about that baby-making music of yours. There's nothing wrong with it, jazz is just not my bag. Especially anything featuring the sax as the main instrument..." she trailed off. "Bad memories," she grimaced, remembering the way he used to soothe and serenade her with his alto sax late at night, and how she always fell for the romantic setting it created, only to be shattered when the notes faded away. Closing her eyes for a minute, she collected her thoughts and took a steadying breath, venturing another look up to meet Cameron's eyes. "You really like my singing? This isn't a tone most people get to hear. Our band is more riot grrrl, Joat Jett-esque."

Cameron laughed. "Naah, it's more like my aunt's challenging the ocean to do her in. She's the type of lady to really flip tables if she wanted to. I think she loves the water though; when she was younger, her university was by the ocean and she found it extremely beautiful."
He snorted in amusement. "Yup I can see that; well I guess I can't say that I'm not musically inclined. I did used to play the piano but I got tired of it. It was something my mom coerced me to learn when I was little really. My family loves music though; Kai and Seraph sing a lot and then I just found out that their little sister is a songwriter, which I'm glad for I guess. And then our sort of cousins, well Seph is a musical prodigy and Xander just loves the bass." Cameron shrugged at her question though. "When I like what I hear, I say it; doesn't matter what I hear but if I like it... Then I like it. No genres for me honestly."

"Yeah, the water can be beautiful. We have vacation homes out in LA and in Manila, and my parents' bandmate has one on in Portugal... those are Natalia's favorite parts of being on the road. She's the beach bum of the family." Chelsea mused, "My mother plays bass... I guess, technically, I play too, even though I moved to the six-string. We could use a bass player... would definitely change the sound a bit..." she interrupted her own train of thought. "I always thought I'd be a cross-genre fan, but as I got older... I just became a bit of a musical snob. Surroundings and all that. I might just be biased because everyone I know is all pretty much in this genre. Well, my second cousins are in a rap group, but... if there is one style of music I will never, ever, make any exceptions for, it's rap. Old school hip-hop, yes, but this new crap, absolutely not." She gazed out over the lake, deciding she might just cut to the chase. "So... no girlfriend or anyone to disapprove of your squiring me around town?"

Cameron paused during their walk, an amused grin impressed on his handsome features. “Manila? A beach house in Manila? With all that god-awful traffic? I’m part Filipino so I’m kind of an expert in this but there are a lot of other beautiful places in the Philippines to put up a beach house. Just. Not. Manila.” He shuddered and thought about the traffic and pollution that drove him nuts in the Philippine capital and compared it with the beaches of Camiguin, Boracay, and Dumaguete and shook his head. He felt a bit sorry that Chelsea’s family had only seen Manila. “Camiguin. Boracay. Dumaguete. Even Cebu for crying out loud! JUST NOT MANILA!” He finished off with a laugh.
He paused at her question and bit his lip a bit guiltily before smiling at her. “That question is a bit complicated really. I’m the type of guy who doesn’t—didn’t want to get tied down to a single relationship. It really just wasn’t my style. But then I met…”, Taylor He thought about her and how she tried to push him away and shook his head, “Regardless. It’s complicated. I’m single but in a complicated way. Is that going to be a problem for you Chelsea from New York?”

"There weren't a lot of options when we bought it," Chelsea shrugged. "We wander a lot when we're there, we just end up back at our house there. Maybe one day some better real estate will open up. I would have never guessed you were part Filipino. I met one of my closest friends in all the time we spent there." Always picking up on people's little intricacies (it was a survival habit, after all), Chelsea felt him dodging the direct answer to his question. "Complicated," she chewed it over. "And single. Hmmm... so it sounds as though you either have an ex that you can't shake or you're already into someone. For now, I don't see that being a problem, after all, we just met. But if down the road this starts getting a little more personal... don't let me chase you forever if you have no desire to get caught," she gave him a playful pinch on the arm to lighten the mood.

"My aunt has a house in Dumaguete; it's a really small island; that's where she graduated college. My grandfather lives in Cagayan and my aunt's parents own a mansion and beach in Cebu." He shrugged, he had never looked Filipino but he was very proud of his heritage. "Yeah well I am what I am."
He chuckled at her. "You're a smart cookie Chelsea from New York. Not an ex but someone that I like. But I don't think she's the type of girl to stay in a good relationship and honestly, I was never the kind of guy to like being tied down, you know?" Cam grinned, feeling the slight pinch on his arm but not really being hurt by it. "I'll be sure to let you know." They kept walking and he turned to glance at her, just about ready to laugh. "Manila, seriously, Manila?"

You're making me want to change my vacation destination...*sigh*
"I think Cebu is where we always end up. I dunno. Natalia's the beacher, I just follow her," she shrugged again. "I'm pretty content with Coney Island, as far as 'beaches' go. But that's just the New Yorker in me that won't die."
Oh Christ, why did it melt her heart when he called her 'Chelsea of New York'? It made her feel like they were lord and lady at Tudor court. She felt a sizzle of electricity traverse her skin's surface, starting from the tips of her toes, as she pictured herself in a blue dress, heaving bosom and all, sending her maids away so Cameron could sneak into her room at night. "Well, I can't say I'm not going to secretly hope you decide to be tied down, although tied down is never a phrase I'd use. Always hated that expression. Individual freedom is so important, even in a relationship," her thoughts turned dark as she remembered again, but she quickly stopped them. "Look, I didn't buy the place, okay? Will it make you feel better if the first place I buy on my own is somewhere else? You can even tell me where to look."

((You should change your vacation destination. I'm Filipino, I know these things. )) "Cebu's a great place, just not when there's a monsoon going on." He laughed about it even if he knew he shouldn't; floods were Cebu's biggest weakness. "I love the food there and hanging out with all my family." If there was one thing Cameron Tay was thankful for was his giant family. Yes they were very exasperating at times but he knew that they would always be there for him even if the entire world fell away. "I guess that's why it makes me so hesitant to dive into a relationship. A part of you becomes tied down even if you don't mean it to be... It will always end up that way. I guess the catch in all of this is trying to find the person worth it all you know?" He paused again, picked up a flat stone and threw it into the water; it skipped a couple of times before it disappeared. Cameron turned back at her and laughed, that charming grin tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Yes it would make me feel a lot better if you left the house-choosing in my hands, Chelsea from New York."

(We're supposed to go to Thailand too. I'm gonna have to let everyone know!) "Guess it's lucky for us that we never go during monsoon season." Chelsea watched him skip a rock. She'd never been any good at that. Her dad's record stood at eight jumps. Once, TJ skipped a rock the size of his head. It actually gave two good skips before plunking into the water. "Yeah. But it's amazing what you'll put up with for someone who's not worth it," she sighed. "And it'll make you sick to think about." With this chat alone, she'd realized she'd been hanging onto something it was high time to get rid of, and she made a note to herself to purge her life of it when she got home. She couldn't believe how easy it was to talk to Cameron, the way it had never been with him. Keeping her childish giggle to herself, she allowed one moment to daydream about what he'd just said about house-choosing. Maybe they'd pick that house out together. Fat chance, she corrected herself, but did say out loud, "Maybe one day we'll go check it out, and you can show me where I should live."

Cameron shrugged; honestly he couldn't relate to what Chelsea had said. Not once had he ever really gone through anything for the wrong person. He had always wanted to wait and wait. Was it fear of the unknown that kept him single? Cameron honestly didn't know the answer to that question. "I wouldn't really know, I've never really stuck around long enough in a relationship to see. God that makes me sound like such a tool!" He laughed at himself. Cam grinned at her and waggled his eyebrows suggestively. "Name the time and date, I'll be there. Have to make up for all the things you've missed!"
