I'm guessing that's a no. Not in as many words, but I'm definitely going to leave well enough alone.
Catching the expression on her face, he groaned softly. "Ok, if there are any questions that I'm asking you that are too hard, you do know you can ask for another one right? This is supposed to be a game. Not something to upset you."
Sitting up, he rested his arms in his lap and looked over at her. "It's getting really late. Is your mum going to worry about you being out here? Does she even know you're not at home?"

Aya turned to him a bit surprised and she laughed. "Silly, I'm not upset by what you asked. I was thinking about something else. I guess I didn't answer it properly... I want to be in a relationship but only when I'm sure that I'm not jumping headlong into one just because of Monte. I don't want to be unfair to the guy, right? And I guess if it was someone I wanted to ask me out, then I'd say yes." She tilted her head and smiled. "Did that explanation help?"
She thought about it, her mom didn't know she was gone but Cameron would have figured it out sooner or later. "Cameron probably told her if she asked. I don't have to go yet, but do you want to go?"

Danian shrugged, and settled back down on the windscreen. "No, I don't have anywhere I need to be. The others can take care of themselves pretty much. They already were before I got here."
"If we're still playing this game, I guess that makes it your question. Unless you're bored. We can find something else to do instead. I'm not sure what but this town can't honestly be this sleepy for real."

Aya laughed. "Well of course they can take care of themselves." She decided she wanted to stay a little longer with him; the time she spent with him seemed to fly away and she didn't want to be alone in her thoughts. "Oh it's my turn?" She closed her eyes as she thought about a question and she grinned sneakily as she turned to face him again. "Do you think I'm pretty?" It was a shallow question but she honestly wanted to know what he thought about her. She knew that he thought she had been pretty with her long hair, but what about now?

Danian paused, wondering how to answer without sounding like a complete sap. Pretending to squint in the light coming from the diner, he moved closer to her face.
"Well, it's pretty glare-y out here, so I can't see very well. But from what I remember when we were inside eating, you seem to have all your features arranged in a non-offensive way." Tapping her nose with his finger, he laughed and moved back once more. "No, I'm kidding. Actually you're beautiful." Her appearance was extremely different to Belle who's long blonde hair and big blue eyes had caught him immediately, but her big brown eyes held so much depth he almost couldn't look away, and her delicate face caused him to feel an irrational need to protect her. Clearing his throat, he looked over at the slowly emptying parking lot.
"My turn. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?"

Aya shut her eyes and laughed in amusement. "Good, I'm glad." Color tinged her cheeks and she was grateful that Dan couldn't see her blush. "Thank you... My family actually started calling me pixie when my hair started to grow back; it was ridiculous." She turned back to look at the sky and smiled at his question. "I wanted to be like my mom, a photographer who traveled all over the world. I still want to be a photographer actually. I'm going to take that as a major when I graduate from high school." She didn't tell him that she wanted to travel around the world for a year first before she decided to start in University...
"Okay, my question. How do you take your coffee?" She laughed at the question. It was silly but coffee was important to her.

Dan shook his head emphatically, fighting the urge to make a retching noise. "I don't drink coffee. I can't stand the taste, it's too bitter. I drink Red Eye to get my caffiene fix. And not even that very often, only when I've been up all night and have to do things during the day."
"Hm... what is your favourite book of all time? I guess I sort of already told you mine before."

Aya gasped in horror. "Y-you don't like coffee? How is that possible? Coffee, is like, God's gift to mankind!!! I don't think we can be friends anymore." She said with a slight laugh. She had loved coffee ever since she was younger. Her mom loved it immensely because her father had showed her the beauty of coffee just like she had shown her children. Maybe that's why coffee was so important to her, it was something her entire family loved. "I swear I'm going to find a coffee that you will like or die trying."
She thought of all the books she had read in her life and she laughed a bit. "Okay, don't laugh alright? It's a really silly children's book my parents used to read to me. One Fish, Two Fish. I swear every time I see a bookstore, I try to find it so I can skim it before I leave. It's strange that I don't have a copy of that book."

Danian held up his fingers, pretending to ward her off. "No way José. There's no way I'm drinking coffee, even if it means we can't be friends. Although, that's kind of a harsh standard to live by you know. Limiting your friendships to people who like the same beverage as you."
His eyes widened and he bit back a laugh, despite the warning she'd given. "Dr. Seuss? Really? Well, it's just...it's not a very complex book is it?" Realising he'd just given her license to tease his own favourite, he hurried to cover his tracks. "But it is a classic so I guess I can't really diss your taste now can I?"

Aya scowled at him. "Oh come on, you won't even try the things I'll make you? I promise they won't be bitter and they'll be delicious and after one sip, if you don't like it then I'll drink it. Please?" She paused. "I was kidding about not being you friend because of the coffee though. I don't think I could take it if you weren't my friend." She smiled to herself, realizing she had given herself away but hoped he didn't notice. Ayame Tay needed Danian Arthur even if he didn't know it and she didn't admit it to anyone, even herself.
Aya pouted and tweaked his nose "Aww I asked you not to laugh." She said as a giggle escaped her lips. "Well it Dr. Seuss is never complex but I was fascinated with it when I was little. I guess that fascination just followed me around when I grew up. Besides, this coming from a guy who likes invisible possums, that's rich." She said, a teasing smile on her lips. Aya winked at him before she looked up at the sky and laughed.

Danian pouted slightly as she made fun of his book. "Well, at least mine has a story to it. It's not just numbers and colours in rhyme." He knew he was slightly childish but he couldn't help himself. He had to defend his choice.
"Anyway... I think it's your question now. We've seemed to find a problem with most of what we ask haven't we? Even drinks..." Chuckling, he shook his head and wondered how many other things were likely to cause arguments.

Aya grinned at him, he had a point after all. "I think every Dr. Seuss creation greatly impresses me. His imagination is beautiful; I think his imagination actually sparked my interest in photography. I wanted to capture magical scenes like he did." She shrugged lightly. "Let's see... My question?" She curled up to him, liking how warm he was against her. "What's something you've done that you regret and if you could fix it, would you?"

Danian lay still as she curled up next to him. It was incredibly hard to think of anything but her right at that moment. He wracked his brain, trying to think of anything that had gone badly for him. "Well, I guess the first time I met Jade and the others didn't go very well. By the end of it, Jade and her best friend Nck were about to beat me to a pulp."
He chuckled dryly, remembering their heated arguments during the first couple of months together. "She and I are like..oil and water I guess. But I think if things had gone better the first time, me coming back now wouldn't bug her so much. Or me for that matter. So I guess if I could go back, I'd tell my little self to think about how she'd have been feeling, not just me."

Aya closed her eyes, just about ready to drift off into sleep, curled up against Dan. "Oh? Tell me that story, what happened then? What did you do to piss off the mighty Jade Arthur?" Of course, he didn't have to if he thought that his family's story was a personal one, but she honestly did want to know more about him and what had caused the rift between Dan and Jade.
She had to smile a bit though because his answer just proved to Aya that Danian Arthur wasn't a bad guy. He thought about the things he did and regretted and wanted to change things, not just for himself but for the people he cared about. For some reason that made her really happy.

Danian took a deep breath, and glanced down at Aya. "Well, ok. But it's not a very good story. It's actually kind of a downer. I'm... I'm not Jade's full brother. That's why we're only a month and a bit apart. We have the same dad. And I guess that's the biggest problem she had. She used to idolise him, and then when she was 11 they all found out about me. Dad knew all along but he'd never said anything."
He paused, drawing lazy slow circles on Aya's back before continuing. "When my mum got sick, she sent me to Dad. She knew there was no other way, cause it was always just me and her. So it was like a giant slap in the face for Jade, Dad not being who he pretended to be. And I was the one she could yell at without getting in trouble. But I didn't understand any of that so I yelled back. She called me lots of things.. Arrogant for one."
Falling silent, he sighed and stared at the sky. "It all just got so messed up. But y the time I went back we'd gotten onto speaking terms at least."
