Will we ever get this right?

Kylie shook her head and looked down. "Nope, just one." No matter how sad Luke and Emmett had made her when they moved away, it wasn't fair to group them in the same category as Jordan. Plus Emmett was never her boyfriend, so he should have been placed in a separate category entirely. "I was with him for like a really long time though."

As soon as she saw the anger on Brody's face, she realized that she had yet again jumped to the wrong conclusion about him. He was nothing like Jordan. Yeah, he had been mean to her in the past, but he would never publicly humiliate her by singing a song about her weight. Sure, he liked someone else better than her, but at least he was honest about it. Not to mention, he had actually showed up tonight, instead of standing her up. She smiled and grabbed his hand. "You're so not him," she said. "I mean, you're both like cute or whatever, but you're way nicer."

The smile stayed on her face when he asked her about Miki. "Of course I'll like hang out with her and stuff, she's my best friend. And of course I won't tell, I mean, I know I like blab a lot and stuff, but I'm like a super secret keeper." I kept your other secret, didn't I?

Brody grinned as she took his hand. Making the first move didn't seem very Kylie-like, even if it was just innocent contact. He pretended to blush when she called him cute and winked across the table at her. "Well shucks darlin'"

Sighing slightly he kept the smile on his face, but it no longer reached his eyes. "About that. You've been fabulous with keeping this secret. And you're off the hook. I've told Jade and Danian...and Jack. I was thinking it might come to Miki best from you. She won't kill you, and she just might kill me." Forcing a laugh, he squeezed her hand lightly. "Liesl...uh Liesl wanted to know about you and me. So I'm gonna tell her we went out for dinner ok?"

[Dani]

Kylie immediately descending into giggles at the look on his face. "Oh come on, you didn't think you were like ugly or anything, did you?" She couldn't imagine why he would think such a thing. He always had girls chasing after him.

She sighed with relief when she learned that she was no longer entitled to keep his secret. It was eating her up inside. Of course, she was sad over losing her home, her car, most of her clothes, and pretty much her entire life, but she was actually able to talk to people about those things. The fact that the guy wanted was having a baby with someone else was something that she was forced to cry privately in her room about. Now that she was forced to share a room with her sister Sophie, she didn't even have the luxury of doing that anymore. "Okay, I'll tell Miki," she said, again wondering if Miki would kill her once she found out about the two of them. "I don't think she'll like kill you though."

Her expression changed from happiness to confusion when he mentioned Liesl. "Sh-she asked about me?" She quickly grew worried. She knew that he said they weren't together, but he'd also said that he'd kissed her before and probably would again. She also knew that Liesl was ten times prettier than her and was having his baby. There were so many questions that she had about Liesl, but she was terrified to ask them. "I guess if she wants to know....you can like tell her or whatever..." And as long as you don't tell her where I live.... Based on her TV viewing experience, she knew that pregnant women were capable of just about anything.

Brody shrugged nonchalantly, deciding it was better not to tell Kylie about the foul argument he and Liesl had had about her. "Uh sure. She just um, wanted to know for the baby's sake you know?"

Sipping his drink noisily, he looked around the restaurant for their waiter and grinned as their dinners arrived. "Awesome, I'm completely starving."

He picked up his cutlery and waited for Kylie to recieve hers before diving in with gusto. "This smells incredible. Definitely worth the cost on fumes alone."

Kylie let go of his hand and nodded. "I see," she said. Of course, it had to be about the baby. Why else would her name have come up in a conversation between them? Yeah, Liesl had seemed kind of jealous of her when they had met at Holiday Hall, but those were probably her crazy pregnancy hormones talking. Liesl was the one who got to see Brody all of the time, not her. Liesl was the mother of his child, the girl with the perfectly long straight hair that he wanted. Why is he here with me again?

She smiled a little when the food arrived. Never in her life had she been so happy to see carbs. "Yeah, this is so totally worth the cost." She immediately dug in, trying not to make a pig of herself as she normally did when she was confused about boys. After all, she was out in public at a restaurant owned by her friend's family, not curled up in the family room with a chick flick and a forbidden carton of rocky road ice cream.

Brody watched as she ate, a genuine smile on his face. For some reason, he couldn't bear watching girls pick at their food and push it around their plate before proffessing to be absolutely stuffed. "Atta girl princess."

Even though she'd pulled her hand away, he left his on the table palm upright in case she decided it was ok to hold his hand again. putting a spoonful of rice in his mouth, he closed his eyes briefly. It was absolutely amazing.

Swallowing, picked up another spoonful and pointed it in her direction raising one eyebrow. "Want to taste some? It's really good."

[Dani]

Kylie blushed and giggled at his expression. "Geez, you're totally acting like this is the first time that I've eaten anything ever." It didn't bother her at all that he smiling at her because she was eating. She was thrilled that she had done something to get him to smile, even if it was something as silly as eating pasta.

She glanced over at what he was eating. Ordinarily she wouldn't have eaten off of someone else's plate, but the smile on his face was just hard to say no to. In fact, Brody himself was hard to say no to. "Okay," she said, reaching out her hand for the spoon. "I guess it would be like really fun to try something new."

[Raebee]

Brody pulled the spoon out of reach of her hand, and extended it towards her mouth. "You've never had risotto before? Seriously? It's a staple in my house. Except for the mushrooms. Those I have to get elsewhere."

[Dani]

Kylie shook her head and took a sip of her diet coke. "Nope, but I've seen like a million movies where people are eating it in like super fancy restaurants and stuff." She glanced around as realization dawned on her. "Oh yeah, duh! We're like in one now!" There goes my goal of trying to get through this evening without saying something majorly stupid..... "I've like never been to your house for dinner before," she said right before parting her lips.

Brody tried not to laugh, and almost succeeded until a small chuckle burst out of him. "I'm sorry. I'm not laughing at you I swear, you're just...really cute."

Putting the fork in her mouth, he grinned. "You wait. This is like a taste explosion. It's absolutely amazing. All the cheese, and the chicken and the rice." He knew he'd begun rambling, but it really was his favourite meal. "Sometimes I even get mum to put in roasted sweet potato and dried tomato. Even garlic. You can make this so many ways."

Taking Brody's comment at face value, Kylie nodded her head. Even though a small part of her still had doubts, she knew for the most part that Brody was no longer out to insult her. "That's totally alright," she said, smiling back. "Thanks, by the way."

She hesitated as he put the fork in her mouth. Risotto was only something that she had heard of, she had no idea what it tasted like. Was it one of those weird foreign dishes that she would be forced to pretend to like just so that she sounded cool? As she chewed up the mysterious meal, she was happily surprised to discover that she didn't have to lie at all. "Not bad," she said in a serious tone. She dabbed at her lips with her napkin, trying not to giggle again.

Brody clutched his heart and fixed an appropriate look of pain on his face. "Not bad? This is like...well this is what I'd ask for for my last meal on earth."

Scooping more risotto in his mouth, he shook his head sadly at her. Swallowing, he grinned and shrugged. "I'll have to get you to try my grandma's recipe one day. She made the best risotto, seriously. It's great."

Frowning slightly, he knew their conversation couldn't revolve solely on their meals. The hard stuff had to be talked about at some point. "Um... I have..something I have to tell you. And you're not going to like it. But I need you to promise that you'll listen. And not jump to conclusions ok?"

[Dani]

Kylie raised her eyebrows. His last meal on earth? Perhaps she shouldn't have downplayed how much she actually liked the risotto. Oh well, I so can't tell him now. It's not like he'll believe me or whatever..... She ate another forkful of pasta and giggled. "Sorry, you're like making totally me giggle for some reason." Her eyebrows remained raised at his suggestion that she try his grandmother's risotto. "Are you going to like cook it or something?" she asked jokingly. She could hardly keep a straight face at that. Brody was hardly the culinary type.

The giggling immediately stopped once she caught wind of the frown of his face. Not only did the frown make her nervous, but his words did as well. The last time he had said that he had something bad to tell her was when he had revealed that he had gotten Liesl pregnant. Oh my god, what now? "Okay," she said, taking a huge breath. "Just spit it out." She sat back in her chair and braced herself for what he had to say.

Brody fiddled with his fork, pushing his food around his plate before fixing his gaze on her face. "Well, I guess um.. Ok so you know when I went to your house back in MABTown? To see if you still liked me at all and I asked if we could take it slow?"

He flushed slightly, hating himself for what he had to tell her. "Well, I went home and messaged Liesl, to see if she wanted to hang out with me, so I could tell her about you properly. We uh.. we were watching a movie and we..well" He trailed off, an apologetic look on his face. Glancing down at the table, he fiddled with the tablecloth before finishing. "We slept together again. I didn't mean for it to happen I swear, and it won't again. You have my word."

[Dani]

Kylie nodded her head. "Yeah, I remember that," she said, taking another sip of her soda. She would never forget that day as long as she lived. It was the day that she found out about Liesl's pregnancy. What could have possibly happened now?

When he finally revealed the truth to her, she remained completely silent. She wanted to cry, she wanted to scream and yell at him, but she couldn't. She had no right to. He wasn't her boyfriend; he hadn't cheated on her. Her mind began to flash back to their conversation that day, to his explanation about why they couldn't make things official between them. "So that you don't feel like I'm cheating on you or anything when I hang out with her...."

Not only did she lack the right to cry, she was in a place where it would be a bad idea to cry. She couldn't cry and make a scene here, in a restaurant owned by her friend Reese's family. What if Reese found out and told the other girls? "I see," she said, taking a deep breath. She quickly blinked her eyes in an effort to stop the unwanted tears from falling down her face. "I should like go home now. It's getting late and it's like a really long walk."
