It's Big Enough For Both of Us

[Lezzi]

Conner ran his fingers through his nappy brown hair. He should've combed it before he had left the house. His older sister had pushed everybody out of the house so she could have a cleaning day to herself. She had her cousin take her son Akito for a day at the park, no caring what the others did as long as they didn't get into trouble. Conner wasn't exactly a troublemaker, but it always seemed to find him somehow. He hoped today that it would take a day off and leave him be.

He sighed, his brown eyes scanning the trees for a nice place for a nap. He hadn't felt like looking over the town yet, and he knew that the forest was one place that was peaceful. He finally found a spot where a root jutted out right next to it's tree's trunk and he made himself comfortable on it. He brought his knees up, resting his arms on them and leaning his head back to look up he tall Pine that he was under. He hoped that he wouldn't run into anyone today, just so that he wouldn't have to worry about screwing anything up.

[Alisha]

Kacie decided to get out of the house to get some drawing in. She slipped silently out of the house, grabbing a sandwich for later on her way out. Her dark brown hair hung to her shoulders, she hadn't bothered to do anything with it. The girl walked along the busy streets, and decided it was to distracting to get anything done. She debated going to the beach, but she deemed it too hot for that. After she ruled out a few more locations, she decided the forest would do. It would be cool and quiet.

Once she reached the tree line, she searched for a tree to rest against, and sat against the huge pine tree. Kacie pulled her sketchbook out of her messenger back, and took out a pencil. She flipped to a clean page, enjoying the silent serenity the forest offered. She tapped her pencil against her lips, trying to decide what to draw. She mailed when she made her choice. It would be a portrait of her niece Sophia, and her little cousin Julian. They both were so adorable.

Conner sighed, but stopped in mid breath when he heard crunching leaves under someone's shoes. Or at least he hoped it was someone's shoes instead of an animal's foot. He heard the foot steps stop right behind the tree he was sitting at and they sat down, oblivious to the fact that he was right on the other side of the tree. Taking a deep breath, he moved silently to look around the tree. But his foot slipped on a wet leaf and instead of just peeking around the trunkk of the tree, he slipped face down next to a girl drawing.

He looked up at her, brushing the dirt out of his hair and careful not to shake any on her. "Uh I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to slip out in front of you. I was on the other side and heard you and...." He stood up, brushing himself off and trying to explain his sudden appearance, hoping he didn't scare the girl or make her angry. It was the last thing he needed today. "I didn't startle you did I?" He asked apologetically.

[Alisha]

Kacie jumped when the boy fell beside her, she let out a small yelp of surprise. "Oh my gosh!" She said, "Are you okay?" She placed her sketchbook on the ground beside her, setting her pencil on top. She surveyed him, looking for an injury he might have had. Kacie was pleased to find that he seemed okay. She let out a small giggle when she noticed a leaf in his brown hair. She stood up, reaching up to pluck the leaf out of his hair. "No," She said, shaking her head with a small smile, "Just surprised me, that's all. What're you doing out here, anyway?" She asked.

Conner watched her hand as she reached up to grab a leaf out of his hair. With a muttered thanks, he nodded at her. "That's good then. I'm not really doing anything out here. I was sitting down about to take a nap when I heard you come by. I was making sure it wasn't an animal or anything when I slipped." He glanced at her sketch book, then look back at her. "What are you doing out here Miss......?" He held his hand out, waiting to get a name from her, hopefully. "I'm Conner. Conner Tey."

[Alisha]

Kacie laughed. Who would take a nap in the forest? "I'm Kacie, Kacie Everdeen." She told him, shaking his hand, and dropping it. She moved to sit back in her spot, picking up her sketchbook again. "I was just drawing, I came here to get away from the buzz of the city... and my house." She smiled, looking down at the portrait she had started. It was going along pretty well so far. Kacie looked back up at Conner, with a sweet smile. "You're, uhh... welcome to join me if you want to." She said, not sure if he even wanted to stay. "But, no pressure if you want to leave too." She added quickly.

Conner nodded, crouching down next to her, hoping she would let him stay. "MY sister kicked all of us out of the house just so she could clean. She's rather odd, but i didn't mind. The forest is a quiet place to sleep." He glanced at her drawing, then back at her, glad she was offering for him to stay. "Thanks. I don't feel like going back o the crowded streets just yet and I'm pretty sure my sister wont be done til sundown." He scooted closer to her, perching on his toes. "What are you drawing, if you don't mind me looking?" He looked at her until she offered to let him see it. He knew some of his siblings could get mad if someone looked at their sketches when they didn't want them to.

Kacie laughed lightly when she listened to his explanation as to why he was kicked out of the house for the day. "Don't take this offensively, but your sister sounds a tad bit odd." She said with a giggle. At his request, she showed him the drawing she had been working on. It showed a little girl and boy from behind, holding hands and walking in the grass. The little girl had short ringlets atop her head, and a cute little sundress. "It's nowhere near complete," She commented, looking up at him briefly. "But I like how it's turning out." She pointed to the pair, "The girl is my neice Sophia, and the little boy is my little cousin Julian." She told him.

Conner chuckled at her, waving his hand. "No offense taken. She has a little 5 year old boy and he has a habit of getting into random things so she tries to tidy it up the best she can. Mom left for a business trip so she took the chance to order everybody out and clean for a day. She'll probably call my other sister to come by and help for a little girl time, but I guess most people do it every now and then." he shrugged, then looked over her drawing. His eyes widened slightly and looked it over with every detail, astonished. "This is brilliant Kacie. You most certainly have a natural talent for drawing." He looked over at her and smiled. "They're cute. It's an amazing drawing."

[Alisha]

A light blush tinted Kacie's cheeks at his compliment. It was always nice to hear compliments on her work, but it caught her off guard this time. Usually, the nice feedback were from family members, not from cute boys. "Thank you," She said quietly, "I would go so far as to say it's natural talent. I'm really not that good." She turned her attention back to the drawing in her lap, and moved her pencil across the paper in smooth strokes.

Conner smiled as he saw the light pink on her cheeks, but he didn't say anything about it. "No problem. I mean it." He moved from perching on his toes to cross his legs sitting next to her. "You are good. Better than me of course." He laughed. "Well, that's not hard to beat, I'm not at all a talented drawer. My best is 3-D letters and that's it." He watched her move her pencil across paper, resting his head on his hand. "How old are they?" He asked, gesturing to the two in the picture.

[Alisha]

Kacie laughed at his bit about the 3D letters, and smiled in his direction, "Hey, 3D letters are a very serious matter!" She said with another giggle. She darkened the shading of Sophia's blonde curls, that fell just to the nape of the little girl's neck. "Sohpia is three, she is my older brother's daughter. She is actually in England right now, visiting her Mom. She doesn't like it there, much." Kacie wouldn't say all the details because it all seemed very crazy and unbelievable. Her brother had dated a princess, of course he didn't know it at the time. He didn't know it much later until he was in too deep, then she got pregnant, had the baby, and was shipped back to England. She got married to some duke, and didn't look back. She saw her daughter a few times a year, but the little girl hated it there. She smiled again, before moving on the the sundress the girl wore, "Julian is my cousin's son, and he'll be two in a few months."

Conner laughed, nodding. "Well, now that you mention it, I guess it is a pretty sweet talent huh?" He said jokingly. he put his head on both of his hands, watching her draw again. "She looks very pretty. I'd like to go to England sometime...maybe." He didn't ask why she was in England, since he didn't think it was his business in the first place. He chuckled after she talked about Julian, just thinking about his little nephew Akito. "I have a nephew Akito, he's five. Bright blonde hair that needs to be cut anda very bright attitude." He smiled lightly.

[Alisha]

Kacie stilled he pencil and looked at him with a smile, "He sounds adorable." She said to him, before turning back to the paper in her lap. She leaned down for a more accurate view, she was drawing the pair's entwined hands now, shading the darkened spaces in between their small fingers. "So, Conner, what do you do besides sleeping in forests and draw the very important three dimensional letters?" Kacie asked, not looking up from the paper. She was curious to learn more about the boy who had literally fallen face first into her life. She found herself feeling glad that her once solitary day had become not so lonely.

Conner laughed and nodded. "Very. He's a cute little busy body, never standing still unless his mother tells him to." He watched her draw their hands, becoming very interested in her amazing skills. He almost didn't realize she was talking him until she said his name, his head snapping up. He shrugged, scratching the back of his head and chuckling softly. "Uhm, not much really. Play with my little siblings and Akito. Help around house, write...and reading." He leaned back, thinking about all the books he'd read. "I love reading." He blushed, ignoring it and looking back at her. "And what about you Kacie Everdeen? I'm sure you do more than sit alone in the woods, drawing little people." He smiled at her.
