Bayne Neil Black [23] January 28th, 2012
“Bayne...Bayne, get up.” said a familiar voice in Bayne’s ear as he continued snoring. “Bayne!” the voice shouted louder with an added punch to Bayne’s shoulder.
That surely got Bayne’s attention this time, as his eyes shot open to see a beautiful girl standing above him while holding out a tray of pancakes, eggs, and bacon. “Oh.” he said, sitting up and rubbing his sleepy eyes open. “Morning, GenShi. What’s this?”
“What do you think, dork? You’re birthday breakfast.” she giggled, setting the tray in his lap once he sat up enough to hold it steady. “Unless of course you don’t want it. I’ll gladly eat it for myself....” she added in as a tease, slowly reaching in to grab the tray from him.
Bayne reached to pull the tray closer to him again, chuckling at her tease at him. “Oh, that won’t be necessary, sweetheart. I’m starving.” he said, grabbing his knife and fork and began cutting up the pancakes before munching on his first bite of the meal. “Mm...this is very good, thank you.” he smiled, taking a sip of his orange juice next.
“Glad you like it.” GenShi smiled back.
“I do have one question though...” GenShi tilted her head at him as a response. “What about you’re breakfast? Didn’t you eat something?”
“Oh, I already ate my breakfast before even starting yours.”
Bayne nodded, and continued to eat his deliciously made birthday breakfast. Then, after a few bites of bacon and sips of orange juice, and after GenShi slipped into bed next to him, he asked, “So, did you make any plans for us today, too?”
“Hm...well, I wasn’t planning anything too special. But you’re mom did want us to come over today, if that’s alright with you.” she explained, leaning more on Bayne’s shoulder comfortably, now.
Again, Bayne nodded, sipping his drink to wash down the rest of the pancake. “Sounds good to me. Haven’t seen them in a while anyway.”
☼
After the two were finished with breakfast and all dressed and ready to go, Bayne drove them down the next couple of streets to his parents house. It was nearly noon, so hopefully everyone would be awake now. He and GenShi walked up the porch, only to find the door partway open. And without even taking two steps into the house, two dogs came barking in towards them. Neither of them flinched for they were already used to this kind of greeting. “Hey, Dixie! Hey, Sam! How are my two favorite dogs?” he cooed, scratching both dogs as GenShi did just the same. Dixie, the dachshund continued doing circles around the couple, hoping up to give each of them kisses every now and then, and then Sam, the Shepard mix, just sat there with his tail wagging madly, just enjoying the attention he was getting.
Not even two minutes later, Tori came rushing to them next, squeezing her son into what he would call a death hug. “Happy Birthday, sweetheart!” she said, kissing both of his cheeks, before hugging GenShi next.
“Thanks, mom.” Bayne smiled, sighing of relief when she finally let go of him.
While the dogs rushed back into the living room where most of the kids were, the couple followed, whilst being greeted by them all. “Happy Birthday, Bayne!” they would say. Elisabeth came out from the kitchen from helping their mom decorate the cake, and gave her big brother a big hug. “Happy Birthday.” she said to him.
“Thanks, sis.” Bayne looked around the living room, seeing that all his siblings were actually here, together. Something he rarely ever saw. Even Rochelle was there; with her boyfriend of course, to help take care of her with her small bump of a belly that was growing fast. Their father had even ended up calling them. They put him on speaker, and all sang happy birthday to Bayne before handing out slices of Red Velvet cake.
Despite Bayne’s twenty-third birthday being not as exciting as, say, his twenty-first, it was still nice. It was just nice to get to be with his family and girlfriend, those who love him. Even his father was there, sort of. Even if it was on the phone. Because with his parents divorced, its been hard for the kids, much less Bayne to see him often. But yeah, today was just a nice, relaxing day for both Bayne and his family. No bad fights, or arguments...nothing. All was well.

Autumn Savannah Burke [19] January 28th, 2012
It was a quiet and peaceful day for Autumn and Junsu. They decided, well, Autumn decided to spend part of the day at the local art museum for her nineteenth birthday. Of course Junsu protested at first, for he wanted to do something much more special for her birthday; aka: spend more money on her as he loved to spoil her as best as he could. He let her choose the day ahead of them though, since it was her day to be spent. He didn’t whine or argue about it anymore. In fact, he too was having a great time, just the fact that they were spending more time alone together in a more quiet environment. “Oh! Look at this one, Junsu!” Autumn squealed, as she pulled her fiance to what seemed like the hundredth painting. “I love the colors in this one.” she sighed, leaning her head back on Junsu’s shoulder with her arm hooked around his.
“Autumn?” Junsu asked, a few minutes later after walking around some more. “After we’re done with the museum....you think we could go someplace I want to take you?”
Autumn tilted her head slightly at first, as if trying to figure out where he wanted to take her. “Sure. I mean, just as long as you’re not spending too much money on me.” she bit her lip, gripping his arm with her other hand. “I don’t want to see your wallet going empty because of me, you know.”
Junsu gave a light chuckle. “Autumn,” he kissed her forehead softly, “Even if I did. It’d be worth it. You’re worth it.” he smiled wider, seeing that Autumn gave a wider smile as well.
“I know.” she giggled shyly, dipping her eyes to the floor as they continued walking. “You tell me that all the time.”
“Only because its true.” Junsu responded slyly, giving her another kiss on her temple as he pulled her in closer to him, as if it were possible.
After their trip to the museum was done with, Junsu drove Autumn back downtown to the Music Venue. And the first thing that popped in Autumn’s head was the last time he surprised her with a song. Even if it wasn’t the first time he’s done this to her, even if its the hundredth, it would never get old for Autumn. She loved to hear Junsu sing. Especially when it was to her.
“Here we are.”
Autumn looked out the window, and there they were indeed. What song would Junsu sing to her this time? She could hardly wait. Before she knew it, she was practically dragged out of the car and towards the entrance where Junsu had let go of her hand momentarily to open the door for her. And as soon as she entered past those double doors, Autumn’s blue eyes sparkled with excitement. Her smile widened even wider than its been all day.
In the Music Venue, she found not only the stage with a grand piano on it, but Lanh was sitting at the piano, ready to play a song with Jasmine sitting on top, smiling back at Autumn. In front of the stage then stood a microphone, waiting for Junsu to sing into it. “Junsu, I...” But before Autumn could finish her sentence, her sister, biological sister that is, Lindsey, suddenly came up as of out of nowhere, causing Autumn to let out a small gasp. “Lindsey?!”
“What? You think I’d miss out on any more of my baby sister’s birthdays?” Lindsey laughed out, bringing Autumn in for a hug. “Happy Birthday, Autumn.”
Jasmine came up then, joining in with the girl hugs while Junsu and Lanh were up on stage preparing for the song. “Um..Autumn?” Junsu cleared his throat as he spoke into the microphone. You could tell there was a slight nervous tone in his voice.
The girls turned back to the stage then, Autumn being in the middle of the two. Jasmine and Lindsey both just smiled excitedly, while Autumn just stood there, still trying to figure out which song her amazing fiance was going to sing to her today.
“As you probably figured out now, I’m going to be singing you another song.” he paused for a second, and a deep breath. “But, this song...is much more special than the others. I wrote this song myself, er, with some help from Lanh of course.” he mumbled the last part out, with everyone chuckling softly with him, including Autumn. “But, uh..I hope you....I hope you like it.”
The next few minutes for Autumn had gotten emotional. She had tears in her eyes, not from sadness, no, but from happiness. Joy. Ecstatic that she had someone other than family that actually loves her enough to take the time to write a song especially for her and only her. That meant a lot to Autumn.
Jasmine and Lindsey held her close to each other, each one of them linking arms with her. After when the song was over, Autumn fell speechless. Junsu stood up there smiling, and with Lanh getting up to pat his brother’s shoulder in a ‘good job’ sort of way. This was definitely one of the best birthdays Autumn has ever had. Top three list for sure.

Akaila Jada Johnson [22] February 13th, 2012
Not only was it the day before Valentines Day, it was also Akaila’s twenty-second birthday, and all she wanted to do was sit at the bar and drink. No celebrations, nothing. Just what she was used to. She slid her empty glass back over to the bartender hinting for another refill then, and swung her seat around to glance back at the dance floor. It didn’t seem as crowded as usual. “Probably ‘cause people are getting ready for their Valentines.” she mocked under her breath, as she grabbed her drink that was just refilled for her.
About an hour and six and a half drinks later, Akaila was feeling just a tad bit tipsy, though not completely drunk yet, and suddenly felt like joining the others on the dance floor. Lucky for her, she was wearing her best clubbing outfit; a short and black, tight fitting dress and gold gladiator heels with matching earrings and a bracelet cuff.
Quite a few times Akaila’s gotten swiped away from a new guy every five minutes almost. In what seemed like another hour, Akaila swears she must of grind-ed on every guy in that club. She’s even come across some girls she ended up grinding on, she was in that good of a mood. Maybe it was the alcohol. Either way, she was having the time of her life. She waddled back over to the bar to order a few quick shots before heading back to the dance floor, when she noticed a new stranger looking about her with his eyebrows raised and all. “What d’you think you’re looking at?” she questioned him, right before letting the first shot of alcohol burn down her throat. The stranger gave her a simple smirk. “Well, are you gonna say something, or just stand there like a fucking idiot?” she scoffed, as she took down another shot. The stranger who continued to smirk inched closer to Akaila. Akaila didn’t seem to mind, in fact, after her third shot down, she leaned more into him. Her chocolate body grinding closer against his own muscular tan body. She let out a soft groan, he let out a louder groan. And before she knew it, they were both huddled in a corner, grinding each other’s clothes off.
☼
After that drunken afternoon which soon turned into evening, Akaila was found in her room by Toni who only came by to wish her a happy birthday. One look at her, and he knew immediately what she had been up to all day. “Have fun at the clubs, did we?” he asked her, who only shifted slightly on her bed in response. Toni chuckled lightly, shaking his head at her. “Happy Birthday, Akaila.” he finished simply, and placed a small, nicely wrapped present on her side dresser and left quietly.
About two hours later, Akaila finally managed to wake herself up. It was mostly a bathroom emergency though. After she cleaned herself up a bit, Akaila returned to her room only to find a small wrapped box carefully set on her side dresser. Curious, she picked it up and examined it cautiously. “Hm..what have you got for me this time, Toni?” she asked to herself, slowly opening the small gift. A note was found over a small box. She opened the piece of paper up carefully and read aloud:
Akaila, You may be 22. But just remember the reason you wanted to change your old habits. Happy Birthday, Toni
Akaila gave a slight shrug in her shoulders, setting aside the note to open the box. Her eyes started to glow then when she found what was inside. Carefully and gently, Akaila pulled out what looked like a locket. It was black with a gold rim and chain. And over the black, was an A; for Akaila. She opened the locket to see if anything was inside, and there it was. A short note was engraved into the locket itself. It read in a small cursive font, “Right Around the Corner, Is Change.”
Akaila closed her fist onto the locket for a brief moment to catch her thoughts. She closed her eyes for a moment then. After a few seconds, Akaila reopened her eyes again, whispering in her hands where the locket was buried, “Thank you, Toni.” and she wrapped the necklace around her neck. She took another look at the note again with her hand over the locket she was now wearing, smiled a small smile, and transferred herself back downstairs to thank Toni for the lovely gift. No one else would of thought of giving her a gift, not one. But Toni, she knew she could trust him with anything now. He was the best example of being a great parent, she thought. She was most thankful for him; that he would take the time to listen to what she’s been through, and still take her in, despite her troubles she still faced.

Hiroshi Yokoyama [15] February 14th, 2012
Ah, Valentines Day. But that wasn’t all what today was, nope. Today was Hiroshi’s fifteenth birthday. He was most excited, definitely. But unfortunately, he hadn’t planned anything special ahead of time for this special day. Instead, he sat in his room on his bed with his guitar, stroking the strings softly against his fingers. He played a beautiful melody which soon turned into one of the songs he and Hua had written together. He began singing softly to himself, getting into the beat of it. When he got around to the middle of the song though, he was interrupted by a knock at his door. He groaned lightly under his breath, closing his music book he had out in front of him. “Come in.”
What came next was a total shock to Hiroshi. When the door opened, it wasn’t Toni, nor even one of his siblings...it was his boyfriend, Huong Tu. His eyes lit up with delight then, as he set his guitar aside and bounced back to his feet to give his love a big hug. “Huong Tu! What are you doing here?” he asked excitedly, giving him a kiss on the cheek.
“What? You think I forgot about my boyfriend’s birthday?” he laughed shyly, returning the hug and kiss shyly. “I got you something, too.” he said in a softer tone.
“Aww..you didn’t have to get me anything.” he smiled gratefully at him, holding both his hands in his own, and swinging them slightly.
“I know..” Huong Tu bit his lip, looking down at their hands linked together. “But..I wanted to.” With slight hesitation then, Huong Tu let go of Hiroshi’s hands and dug deep into his jacket pocket where he pulled out a small rectangular wrapped box and slowly handed it to Hiroshi. “I-it’s not much...but I didn’t have much money to spend either...” he shrugged, hoping if he would at least be thankful for it rather than like it.
Hiroshi took the wrapped box from his boyfriend, and carefully unwrapped it. After doing so, he found himself holding a picture frame. And inside the frame held a photograph. A photograph of the two of them. He remembered it, because it was the day the both of them plus Hua planned a small stage performance in the local mall. He could tell Hua must of taken the photo, because his boyfriend’s photos were much more skilled. Huong Tu must have used his photoshop skills to edit and sharpen it up a bit though. Either way, he smiled at the photo, letting the memories fill him up with happiness again. He looked up at Huong Tu with a wide smile. “Thanks.” He glanced back at the picture again before opening his arms back up again and pulling Huong Tu into another warm hug. “I love it, I really do.”
Huong Tu flinched a bit when he was pulled back in for another hug, but hugged back anyway. “You’re welcome.”
“I love you.”
“I love you, too.” he said again, shyly placing a kiss on Hiroshi’s cheek.
Hiroshi only made his face glow red even more though, when he pressed their lips together. When they finally separated then, he turned to place his new gift on the corner of his side dresser. A place where he would always see it; even when he was writing songs. He plopped back on his bed, making room for Huong Tu as he patted his hand on the empty spot next to him. When Huong Tu joined him, he said, “I was just playing one of the new songs Hua helped me with. Wanna hear it?”
Huong Tu fidgeted in his seat slightly, out of shyness, but nodded. “Sure.” he smiled.
He watched Hiroshi grab his guitar, and open up his music book again before he started the melody from the beginning. He started singing then, and that’s when Huong Tu’s smiled built up even wider. Every time his boyfriend played a song on his guitar, his heart warmed, but this time, knowing he was playing a song for him, he couldn’t even express how good he felt right now. Warm and fuzzy wasn’t enough to describe the feeling he was having right now.
Hiroshi felt the same. It was like, whenever he was around Huong Tu, he felt this warmness inside him that he hasn’t been able to feel for a long time now. His heart skipped a beat every time he saw Huong Tu. Not like he would ever tell him that though. Hiroshi didn’t exactly like to express his true feelings to anyone. It wasn’t really like him to do so at all, anyway.
After he finished playing, there was a short moment of silence. Hiroshi moved his guitar slightly to the side so he could get a good grasp of Huong Tu’s hand, stroking it lightly with his thumb. “Um..that, that was cool. I liked it. I really did.” Huong Tu bit his lip again. “So...when do you think you’ll be performing again?”
“Hm..I don’t know. Haven’t thought about it, to tell you the truth.” he shrugged. “Definitely soon, though. I can promise you that. Definitely soon.”
For the rest of the day, Hiroshi and Huong Tu stayed in the room and relaxed beside each other, cuddling. Nothing special, for the only thing Hiroshi wanted for his birthday was to spend some time alone with his Valentine.

Katherine Jaqueline Meyers [19] February 23rd, 2012
For the last two years, Katie hasn’t had the same fun birthdays as she used to have. Normally, she would have gone out with friends and partied, drank a few cups of alcohol, plus birthday sex with a complete stranger if she was lucky. Now that she had twin boys to take care of, celebrating her birthday wasn’t exactly at the top of her list anymore. However, it was still at the top of her family’s list. Katie was just laying out in front of the house, late afternoon, watching her boys play on their tricycles they got for Christmas from Katie’s boyfriend, Nick. She still couldn’t believe he did that. Then again, knowing him, he probably couldn’t believe it either. “Momma!” cried out one of the boys, Connor, as he raced back to his mother’s side. “Momma, he’p! Kyle being mean ‘gain!” he pouted, hopping off his tricycle to curl up at his mother’s side.
Katie sighed, soothing Connor as she normally did, and glared over to Kyle who just simply giggled, looking as innocent as possible. “Kyle....” she raised a brow at him, and waved a finger up toward him, motioning for him to come to her other side. Reluctantly, he did as he was told, kicking dirt before plopping his butt down in the grass. “Kyle, what have I told you about--” but before she could scold Kyle once again, Katie was interrupted by sudden singing in the background. Her family, with Trinity and Toni being in front of the crowd, walked up to her. Trinity was carrying a cake as the whole family was singing Happy Birthday to her. Again, she sighed, always feeling a bit awkward whenever someone sang that birthday song to her.
“Happy Birthday, girl.” Trinity said, holding out the cake towards her. “Make a wish.”
Katie raised her brows at her, while Kyle got seemingly closer to the cake. Katie grabbed him just in time with a smirk on her lips and with Connor giggling at his brother who had got caught again. Katie leaned in herself and blew out the candles, leading the rest of the family into a small cheer. “Um, thanks guys.” she shrugged, holding Kyle in close to her so he wouldn’t go slamming his face in the cake like she knew he would. “So...what kind of cake is it?”
“It has a bit of different flavors in it.” Toni said.
“And guess who made it?” Trinity added in a sing-song voice. “Moi, of course.” she giggled, “It’s a vanilla cake with little strawberry pieces stuck in it, and covered in chocolate frosting.” she explained, holding it up higher when she saw not just Kyle, but Connor was trying to reach up for a taste.
Katie nodded, smiling. “Well, it certainly looks delicious. You think I could get a piece without either of these rascals digging in first?” she laughed, which stopped short when a familiar voice suddenly popped up out of nowhere.
“I can try keeping them occupied for a little bit.” Katie looked up to see who that voice was, her eyes growing wider when she saw it was Nick. “Sorry I couldn’t make it sooner. I had to um, finish wrapping your gift.”
Katie smiled warmly at him. “Awe, you know you didn’t have to get me anything.” “Yeah he did...” murmured one of her siblings in the group then. Katie simply gave them a quick glare before returning her gaze back on Nick, who held a wrapped, square present in his hands in front of him. “But since you have it all wrapped and with you....what’d you get me?” she giggled lightly.
Nick chuckled nervously along with her as well, fiddling with the gift in his hands. “Well, I didn’t exactly buy it. That is to say, I wanted to try something new. And, well, I hope you like it.” he explained hesitantly, holding it out to her. Cause if you don’t, I’ll feel like an even bigger fool than I do now, standing in front of your family like this.
Katie moved Kyle and Connor aside for a moment so she could get back to her feet, grabbing the gift as she did. “Hm...well, it is a gift either way. A gift from you, even. So I’m sure I’ll like it either way.” she said gratefully, looking at the gift a bit before deciding to unwrap it then and there.
Most of the family had gone back inside to start cutting up slices of the cake, leaving Katie alone with her boyfriend. So it was just the two of them left outside, along with Kyle and Connor, who sat there wide-eyed, curious to know what their mother’s gift consisted of. As soon as the gift was unwrapped, the wrapping paper landing on the ground where the boys soon started to play with, putting it on their heads as if it were hats for them or something. It took a while for it to sink in of what the gift was. It was a book. Not just any old book though. Katie opened the mysterious book, and inside were pictures. Pictures of, not just him and her, but the boys as well. It was a scrapbook. A scrapbook of all the things they’ve been through together, with and without the boys. “Oh my god.” she muttered, flipping through the pages till she got near the end, where she glanced back up at Nick again, with warmth in both her eyes and smile now. “Thanks, Nick. Thank you so much.” she said in almost a whisper, not even realizing she was leaning in closer to him, not until he wrapped his arms around her waist. She gave him a little toothy grin then, before pressing her lips onto his, letting it last for as long as they could make it.
“Wook, momma! Pawty hats!” Connor shouted in fits of giggles, while Kyle was currently standing there with the papers still on his head as he pointed and shouted, “Ewwwy! Kissy, kissy!” Connor only giggled at his reaction, not even fazed by the fact that his mother was kissing her boyfriend. He was too preoccupied with the wrapping paper still.
For the rest of the day, Katie, Nick, and the rest of Katie’s family decided to relax at the house. Nick and Katie sat on the couch and ate some cake while looking through the scrapbook. And the boys sat in front of the TV watching their shows while nibbling on their own slices of cake. Yep....this years birthday definitely turned out better than Katie had planned.

Jayson Isaac Black [7] February 25th, 2012
“Shoot, Jay, shoot!” shouted Bayne, Jayson’s oldest brother and coach. Jayson dribbled the ball a couple times to each hand, before running to the right and jumping up near the basket, pushing the ball out of his hands in hope that it would make a swish. Jayson nearly toppled over on another player as he landed, not taking his eyes off of that ball in the air. It bounced against the backboard, rolled around the rim once, then twice. And within the next second, it dropped into the net just before the horn sounded. They had won the game! All of Jayson’s eight and under basketball team were jumping around cheering, and continuously slapping Jayson on the back excitedly.
Not only was Jayson happy about making the winning shot, but he was even more thrilled that he won the game on his seventh birthday! In celebration to the big win, Bayne, as well as his girlfriend GenShi, took out the team out for pizza. Of course the rest of Jayson’s family was there. Rochelle being a bit late due to having an appointment for the baby.
Everyone was there nonetheless, and Jayson couldn’t have been any happier. He had his family, basketball friends/team, and pizza and games! What else could a seven year old ask for? “Bayne! Where’s our trophy?” Jayson called out over the table to his brother, snickering.
“Trophy?” Bayne scoffed. “What do you want a trophy for? This wasn’t the championships.” he told them.
“Yeah, but it’s Jayson’s birthday!” said one of the boys, “We should all get trophies!” “Yeah!!” The rest of the team agreed unanimously.
Bayne just gave a simple shake of his head, laughing. He knew they were at least partly joking. Even though they started chanting, “Trophy! Trophy!” part way through the meal.
After Pizza was done and over with, Jayson insisted that they do presents now. And so they did. His mother had told him that his main present from the family was waiting for him at the house and that he had to wait until they got home to find out what it was. Bayne and GenShi handed him their gift though. They just got him a simple basketball. A simple basketball with the Laker’s signatures all over it. Oh yeah, he was over-the-top ecstatic. Other gifts he ripped open were a pair of walkie-talkies, a remote controlled helicopter, slip-n-slide, spy gear toys, and a few other smaller toys. And of course Jayson wouldn’t let go of his favorite gift, the autographed basketball.
By the time presents and cake were over, Bayne and GenShi offered to take the rest of the team home before meeting the rest of the family back at the house. Jayson went ahead and tagged along for the rides, which was good for the family. Because as soon as they arrived back home, Jayson immediately found the present that he had to wait for. A full size basketball hoop. Adjustable too, so when he got better, he could always raise it higher and higher. “Whoa!!!” he screamed, after practically jumping out of the car without bothering to wait for Bayne to put it in park. “Cool!!” he said again, not taking his eyes off of the tall basketball hoop.
“I take it you like it then?” Bayne asked with a small chuckle, meeting behind Jayson who still held that basketball close.
“I loveee it!!!” he exclaimed, just as the rest of the family came to see the look on their brother and son’s face.
“What do you say, Jayson?” His mother asked him nicely, but still strict.
Jayson turned around for a brief moment to look back at his family with that wide grin plastered on his face. “Thank you, everyone!” he turned to Bayne then. “And thank you...coach.”
Bayne grinned slightly wider. He just loved hearing his baby brother calling him that. It made him feel good about what he was doing. That he was doing something right for the kids. “No problem, Jay.” he replied back, giving his hair a nice ruffle before Jayson turned back to the hoop and tossed his new basketball into the air, barely making it into the hoop, but still managing to bring Jayson’s excitement up a notch.

Kameron Tyson Fitzgerald [5] February 26th, 2012
“Momma, momma! Wake up! It’s my birthday today!” Squealed a small and excited red-headed little boy, jumping up and down on his mother’s bed. “Momma!” he cried out again.
And of course, it instantly got Jayde fully awake. “Ah~ Okay, okay. I’m awake, Kam. I’m awake.” she told the hyper little boy, still bouncing on the bed, only to make Jayde smile wider at her little boy smiling down at her cutely. “Happy Birthday sweetheart. How’s it feel to be five years old?” She cooed at the little boy who bounced even higher now with excitement.
“It feel great! It makes me wanna...um, wanna jump all over the place! Yeah!”
Jayde just shook her head and laughed. Her son was just too adorable to stand. “Well, I can see that, Kam. You haven’t stopped jumping yet.” she giggled, adding in, “Why don’t you go bounce along in the kitchen, and I’ll see what sort of special birthday breakfast I can cook up for you.”
Kameron’s eyes widened then, as well as his mouth beginning to water. “Ohh! Yeah! Okay, I meet you in the kitchen!” he shouted, his voice fading out as he jumped off the bed and hopped his way into the kitchen. Again, Jayde shook her head. She knew that was the only way she would get him out of her room. That was how much he loved his mother’s cooking. As he told her a million and one times, she could cook anything and still make it taste good.
Thankfully, Kameron’s birthday was on a sunday this year, which meant she didn’t have work and he didn’t have school. Which also meant that they could spend the whole day together doing whatever they wanted. Well, whatever Kameron wanted anyway.
Jayde arrived in the kitchen not even five minutes later, and believe it or not, Kameron was still going at it with his bouncing. Probably a little less bounce though, seeing as he was starting to get more tired and hungry. “What for breakfast, momma?” he asked cutely as he did little mini bounces on his toes now.
“Hm...I don’t know, Kam. What do you want? It’s your birthday.” she smiled down at her son, letting him choose the breakfast for this morning.
“Pancakes!” Kameron cheered, throwing his hands up in the air. “Oh! In the shape of, of..uh....balloons!”
Jayde thought about the shape, and giggled. “But Kam, pancakes are already in the shape of balloons...silly goose.”
“Then....stars! Yeah! Stars!”
Jayde shook her head with a small laugh and got started with the breakfast by first gathering all the ingredients together and preheating the stove while Kameron ran around in the living room, getting out his energy there.
After breakfast, when Jayde asked Kameron what he wanted to do, he surprisingly just wanted to stay at home. Which was fine with Jayde. It just surprised her that he didn’t want to go to the park or something. So instead, they stayed inside and played some games and watched movies of Kameron’s choice and just relaxed, really. Until it got closer to the evening, when Jayde decided to surprise Kameron with a cake she had baked a few days ago while he was in school. “Ohh!!! I love it, momma!” he squealed with delight, running up to hug his mother’s legs before getting picked up by her instead. “You know what, momma? That’s what I wanted for my birthday all along. A cake made by you....and for you to spend the whole day with me, and not at your work.”
Those words that Kameron spoke then, really warmed up Jayde’s heart even more so than it already was before. “Awe, thanks baby.” she kissed his head gently, before rubbing her hand over his bright red hair. “And that’s all I wanted for your birthday too. Was to be happy. Thank you for making my wish come true, Kameron. I love you.” and she kissed him again, as he simply giggled, fidgeting a little in her arms.
“I love you too, momma.” was all he said back to her, before giving her a little kiss on the cheek as well. She didn’t need him to say anything else anyway. Because the only thing she could ever wish for, is his happiness. And that’s exactly what she gets everyday from him.
“Happy Birthday, baby.”
