I've Thought of Marriage...

HeuSeoh peeked back into the bedroom for the millionth time since he had woken up, glad the vibrations from his alarm hadn't woken up Morgan to begin with. It was Valentine's morning, and their third anniversary; their first one as a couple living together. He checked on the pancakes, making sure they were just perfect before putting them on a plate that already had some sausage and bacon on it. He cleaned the skillet quickly and as quietly as possible, now making eggs. He wasn't the best cook in the work, but he knew how to make just enough to surprise his girlfriend with breakfast in bed. As he finished up the eggs, he set them on the plate as well, a little bit of syrup in a small shot glass on the side of the plate.
Admiring his work, (he had made the pancake a heart, when he told GenShi his plans for today, she had said she was jealous.) he went back to the bedroom, empty handed at first. Before Morgan had the chance to wake up, he got the final detail from the desk drawer, pulling an engagement ring from out of a box and putting it into his pocket. Not waiting to see if Morgan was awake yet, he returned to the kitchen, pouring her a small cup of coffee and making it to her liking. He pulled the ring out of his pocket and placed it carefully on top of the pancake.
Returning to the bedroom with her coffee in hand, he smiled and set it next to her on the night stand, sitting down on the bed. "Got coffee for ya." He tempted, putting a hand on her shoulder and shaking it gently.

Morgan opened her eyes, blinking them sleepily as she woke up. "Yes, coffee...." she said with a yawn. "Thank you so much." She was usually perky and carefree when she woke up in the morning, but today she was feeling a just bit more sluggish than usual. The coffee was just what she needed. After taking a few much needed sips of it, she wrapped her arms around HeuSeoh and gave him a big hug. "Good morning." She picked up her brush off the nightstand and began running it through her messy morning hair. "W-what time is it? I have class this afternoon."

HeuSeoh smiled and let out a small chuckle, "It's not late at all, not even nine am." He told her. With a coy smile, he got up, "Stay there, okay?" He told her, holding his out as if it would keep there before going back to the kitchen to collect the breakfast. He made sure the ring was positioned perfectly one last time before picking up the plate carefully and bringing it into the room. Making sure she couldn't see everything on the plate yet, he smiled to her. "So, today's our third anniversary." He stated simply.

Morgan scooted back on the bed and waited for HeuSeoh to return. What's going on? she thought to herself. She wasn't left in the dark for too long, however. As soon as he returned, she was reminded of one important thing. "Oh my goodness, it is! Happy Anniversary!" she said, grinning at him. She hadn't completely forgotten about it; she had bought him a present a few days ago. Somehow the occasion had managed to completely slip her mind after she had fallen asleep last night. "Happy Valentines Day too!" she added in for good measure. I hope I didn't forget anything else about today.....

HeuSeoh's smile didn't fade as he carefully handed her the plate, though he swore if those butterflies in his stomach got any wilder they'd burst out of his stomach. "Happy Valentine's Day." He repeated simply, sitting next to her on the bed again as he waited for her to notice the ring.

"Awwww you made me breakfast in bed! You didn't have to do that....." Morgan squealed as she took the plate from him. She was about to dig into her pancake when something shiny caught her eye. "Oh my god, it's a ring," she said with a gasp as she lifted it off the plate. She held it very carefully between her fingers and examined it, still completely in awe. "This is even prettier than the last couples ring that you gave me."

HeuSeoh smiled and let out a small laugh. "Yeah... um... Morgan... uh... We've been dating for a long time already. And I thought it'd be time to ask..." He bit his lip, gathering his courage. Any nervousness that had been holding back before came at him full force, and he cleared his throat and got his thoughts back together before finishing, "Will you marry me?"

Morgan gasped and nearly dropped the ring. "Y-you want to marry me?" It shouldn't have come as a huge surprise to her. They had discussed it once a long time ago. They were even living together now. They loved each other, even though he was unable to say it out loud. Yet, she was still shocked. "Oh my god," she whispered again. "Oh my god..." She could feel herself start to shake a little.

HeuSeoh smiled, but inside his nerves seemed to be ripping him apart. He knew it was abrupt, but so far things were going the way he was hoping for them to today. "I know it's sudden..." He muttered simply.

Morgan's mind was going a mile a minute. It was becoming difficult for her to think rationally, so she immediately started saying everything that popped into her head. "Yeah it's sudden. I mean, I know we're living together and that I love you and you kind of love me, but I'm just so surprised. Well, maybe it's a good thing that I'm surprised because you're supposed to be surprised at a marriage proposal usually otherwise it's not really that special. And it's our anniversary and Valentines Day, so I really shouldn't be surprised because you're supposed to do something special for those things anyways.....oh my god, your present! I got you a present!" She quickly placed the ring back on the plate and went to the nightstand to retrieve the nicely wrapped gift she had purchased for him. It was a sketchbook, which was nowhere near as extravagant as an engagement ring, but she hoped that he would like it.

Used to her long outspoken thoughts, HeuSeoh was only faltered by one thing she said. "Kind of love you?" He asked her, not able to get an answer before he a was handed a sketchbook. It was a nice one, the kind he used to get only once every year or so from his mom until he stopped drawing as much. He opened it and smiled, the blank page seemed so beautiful, pristine, all he could do was run his hand over it and enjoy the smooth feel of the pages. "I love it, thank you." He said, seeming awe-struck until he remembered his original task at hand. "Okay, no more distracting me with pretty sketchbooks." He told her jokingly. "First of all, you never answered my question. And second of all, 'kind of love you?' Why do you think I only 'kind of love you?'"

Having realized exactly what she had blurted out, Morgan held up her hands to her mouth. Oh my god, what have I done? She knew that he loved her and didn't want to force him to say it out loud. She knew that he would do it in his own time when he was ready. It was also why she never said it out loud herself. "I-I'm sorry," she said after lowering her hands. "I didn't mean it like that. I know that you love me, even if you can't say it. I know you do. You show me all the time. I shouldn't have said 'kind of'. I don't know what I was thinking.....I was just all crazy, I guess." She looked back up at him with a tiny smile. "I'm glad you liked your sketchbook."

HeuSeoh bit his lip, hesitating a bit before saying anything. Had he really never said 'I love you?' And here he was proposing. He mentally scolded himself. "I love you." He told her almost too quietly, and his voice cracked as he said it. He smirked slightly, "And I'd still love it if you gave me an answer." He nagged her teasingly.

Morgan froze as the words finally came out of his mouth. Knowing that he loved her was one thing, but actually hearing the words out loud was another. "I love you too," she finally said back. At the end of the day, that was all that really mattered to her. She nodded her head and smiled at him. "Okay."

HeuSeoh smiled and picked up the ring, gently grabbing her hand and putting the ring on her right ring finger. "Then it's settled. We're engaged now." He told her with a cute grin.
