Zane pulled the car away from the stop light and at the next light he turned the car into a subdivision and cruised through the neighborhood, looking for the tell tale signs that the usual occupants of the house had been away and didn't seem likely to return. He spotted the perfect place about halfway through the neighborhood. It was a corner property with a high back yard fence and a couple haphazardly thrown unclaimed newspapers in the front yard. "There it is. Welcome home baby!" He drove passed it and parked around the next corner. He got out of the car and hurried around to the other side to let her out. "Looks like they've been out of town for a couple of days, out of state funeral I bet." He left the door open for her and opened his trunk and pulled out a small bag with a zipper.

Tally grinned and looked at the house out the window. 'Arnold' was what the mailbox read. She smiled, "It's so good to be home. I sure hope our neighbors haven't been house sitting. By the look of the newspapers, though, I'd say not," she said, going along with his little facade. She grabbed her small bag out of the front seat where she'd laid it at her feet. As she got out, she walked around to the trunk and stood beside him. "You ready for this, Mr. Arnold? I think this might be a good break from the depressing week we've had. With the funeral and all."

Zane eyed the bag in her hand, he hadn't thought to bring any clothes with him, he had a tooth brush in his backpack and that was that, he lifted the bag out as well and unzipped the large flap, placing the small zipped pouch inside. "Depending on what's inside I think we may find ourselves holed up inside all weekend." He put his arm around her waste and slammed the trunk closed. He left the doors unlocked, just in case they needed a fast get away, the neighborhood looked decent enough, he didn't think he'd have to worry about it getting hot wired. He walked casually with his arm around her waist toward the house they'd spotted. When they got to the driveway he stopped, set his book bag on the ground and bent to tie his shoe without really moving his head much he scouted the area for signs of nosy neighbors. The coast seemed to be clear, he picked his bag back up and walked briskly to the gate that led to the backyard. Lucky for him there was a big oak tree blocking them from view from the road, he pulled out his little zipped bag and pulled out a handy little tool he'd picked up a long time ago. He picked the lock and pushed it open wide enough for the both of them to slip through.
Once they were both inside, he shut the gate and he made his way to the back door, this lock was much harder to pick, but he managed. He put the handy dandy tool back into his zippered bag and scooped Tally into his arms. He kicked the door open with his foot and carried her across the threshold. "Welcome home Mrs. Arnold. It was so nice to see the family and all, terrible circumstances, but I'm glad it's over and we can start the healing process."He grinned and set her down on the sparkling tile of the kitchen floor. He pulled the door to close it, but left it ajar. "Let's check out the new place shall we?" He tossed his bag on a bench next to the door and started pulling curtains closed before turning on the lights.
