Tally groaned into the phone as she was sitting in her bedroom, "I'm so bored!" She sighed lightly. "I don't know how much longer I can act like this, Zane. Like we're different than what we used to be. I just want to go back to being the same, and it's so boring to be like everyone else." She didn't want to sit around any more, she didn't know what she wanted to do, but not this. "Will you come pick me up?"

Zane closed the photo album he'd been staring at for the majority of the conversation, it was mostly an album full of pictures of him and Ryan back in Riverside. He agreed with Tally, he'd been itching to get back to the way they were before they started dating, before the unfortunate event that took his best friend from him. "Yeah, I'm on my way." He didn't know what they could do, he knew he shouldn't do anything to rash or irresponsible if he wanted to graduate in a couple months, but in all honesty it might be his only opportunity before he turned eighteen and would be stuck with the consequences of his actions for the rest of his life. November seemed far off, but it was right around the corner with the way time seemed to fly around town. He pulled on a pair of jeans from the floor and pulled out a clean shirt and with the photo album in hand he walked down the hall to Tess' room. She wasn't in there, but he tossed the album on her unmade bed regardless. He peaked into the nursery. "I put the album on your bed." He whispered. Tess' eyes were closed as she rocked Hollis in the rocking chair. She opened them, gave a weak smile, and closed them again. He probably should have even said anything when he saw her with her eyes closed, but the words had left his mouth before he'd had a chance to pull them back in. Tess' was having a really hard time with Hollis, she wasn't quiet like Gage seemed to have been, crying at all hours of the night and just her luck, Gage had come down with a fever last night and the second she'd get one of them down, the other would start crying out for her.
He drove to Tally's house, obeying all the speed limits and rules of the road, though below the surface all he wanted to do was throw caution to the wind and speed. He figured if he and Tally were going to get into some kind of trouble today it should be together, he should ruin her fun just because he felt like being impulsive on the way over. He turned the car off, hurried up to her door and knocked.

As soon as the knock came Tally swung the door open and stepped outside, shutting and locking the door to her apartment before standing on her toes to kiss her boyfriend lightly. She didn't have the slightest idea what she wanted to do, she just needed to get away from the easy little life they seemed to be falling into. It was boring, especially for her. She knew he had school to keep him occupied, but she was literally doing nothing. Unable to find a job aside from helping Gracie with the twins, which didn't really count, she had sat in her apartment or with Zane, doing whatever it was that good kids do, or what she assumed they did. "Thank you for coming... I have to get out of here."

Zane strung his arm around her lower back and kissed her long and slow after she kissed him. He was longer a fan of tiny little peck-y kisses. He was tired of watching movies they'd seen a dozen times and watching old reruns of lame tv shows. "Let's just run off." He said, walking her out to his car. "It's a three day weekend, what the hell right?" The only thing holding him back from being the reckless youth he wanted and used to be was graduating high school. He'd worked so hard and in a month and a handful of days it'd be done, he'd have a high school diploma, something to show for himself for once. He chided himself silently for even giving a damn anymore, but he couldn't help it, the good kid bug bit him and infected his mind with it's values and principles. He pulled out his wallet as he got into the car and opened up the billfold. "I've got fifty bucks and a fake ID. Does that stir up any ideas in that pretty little head of yours?"

Tally loved how he turned her tiny kisses into something of much more value, both on a sentimental and sexual level. His fire was something that had drawn her in, literally, and even though the literal fire had left him as of late, the figurative fire had always been burning. Sometimes hidden, but always there. Crackling and popping. She smiled slowly at his suggestion that they run away, even if only for a weekend. Her mother wouldn't miss her, and Gracie had Avery, and they could manage for a weekend. Her head giving a nodding motion she smiled. "Let's do it." She ducked into the car and checked her wallet as well. I've got forty. So we have ninety bucks and a fake ID. We can have some fun with this." She said nix to the seatbelt and turned to look at him, raising a brow. "You just wanna drive for a while? See where the road takes us?"

Zane got the car going and reached for his seatbelt. "Sounds like a plan to me." He backed out of her driveway and sped away, they reached the city limits in no time at all and with not a cop in sight he pushed the accelerator to the floor, letting his car climb to dangerous speeds. He slowed as he came to a stop sign but ran right through it, but the next one he stopped. "Left or right baby?"

Tally grinned lightly as he reached the edge of town and blew through the stop sign. With his question she picked quickly, "Let's go left." She knew that right led to another small town, but she didn't know where left would lead, and that was the point, wasn't it? She looked over at him and smiled again, "So how far are we going to go? An hour? Two?"

Zane turned left and sped down the road and didn't slow down when the road started to curve this way and that way. He shrugged. "I don't know let's make it two." He eyed the gas needle and figured they'd have plenty of fuel to make it out two miles and still have enough to drive around and make it back to town. He wasn't sure what was in this direction but that was the point it didn't matter. He checked the time, it was four, if they drove for two hours it'd be six and where ever they were at six he'd just stop. Hopefully it would be an actual town, but if not they'd drive back to the closest town, pick up some provisions and head back.

Tally smiled and let her seat lean back a bit, just to get a little more comfortable. She glanced over at him and licked her lips. The next hour and a half went on pretty quickly, she was really just happy to be there and actually be doing something with him that wasn't just sitting around watching movies or helping Gracie around the house. Something for them. It felt right. She glanced over at him again and stretched out a little, they'd probably been through three different towns, more if you counted the little bitty ones that took about five minutes to pass through. The trip wasn't too bad, she was happy to actually be doing something for a change. "So are you planning on telling Michael?"

After an hour and a half drive Zane became comfortable, using only one hand to steer the car, he'd stopped speeding an hour ago and just in time too, because the next intersection they stopped at had an officer sitting off the side of the road. "Tell him what? That I've run off for the weekend? Yeah that'd go over real well don't you think?" He took his eyes off the road for a second and smiled at her, when he looked back, he swerved back into his lane. "I guess it's a good thing it's almost been two hours."

Tally nodded, that really didn't make much sense, but what if he got worried? "He's gonna send someone out looking for you." She just knew it. She licked her lips. "I suppose you know how to find good hiding spots, right?" she asked lightly, figuring it might not be that big a deal, but it would be a good skill to have if someone were to come looking. She smiled lightly, "And good that you stopped speeding a long time ago," she said, nodding backward toward the cop they'd passed not long ago.

Zane nodded. "That I don't doubt, but it's what he does, he'll eventually talk to Tess and she'll tell him not to worry so much, that I'll be back. That girl knows me too well." He was a sucker for her kids and if things got really bad for him in town, he'd still stick around for them, but nothing bad seemed to happen in Riverside. "But just in case he doesn't talk to Tess and just in case he gets it in his head that I've run off for good, we'll make sure to hide the car really well." He figured they only had maybe twenty miles left to go before they hit the two hour mark. The next sign they passed had a town listed at twenty miles, they were lucky. "I bet that town has more than one town, we'll just park the car somewhere and then go on foot around the town, that way if he does come looking or sends my plates out, they'll find the car before they find us." It was his best plan, his only plan. "Are you getting hungry?" He couldn't tell if the rumbling in his stomach were nerves or the beginnings of hunger pains.

Tally nodded lightly and sighed happily. This really would be a fun weekend, if no one came looking for them. "Alright, well then I guess we'll stop there. I'm starving." She watched as houses started to come into view. A grin on her face, she was starting to get excited, which was silly, but she was happy about it. As the actual town came to be seen she smiled, looking around at the restaurants. "That little diner looks cute," she said, pointing out a restaurant on the side of the road. Then across the road, she spotted a pizza place. "Oh, no, there! That sounds awesome!"

*That second 'town' in that sentence up there is supposed to be hotel.*
Zane grinned when she said she was starving because it only confirmed what he'd already thought about the rumblings in his stomach. Honestly he wasn't that nervous about running off with Tally. Now if he'd run off without her, he'd be nervous. "Pizza sounds great. But just to be on the safe side let's get a hotel room first." He slowed at a stop light. "Unless you want to find an empty house and crash there?" He'd go either way, but if they were going to live dangerously might as well live as dangerously as possible. "We'll still park the car a block or so away to throw anyone on our tail off." He was excited now.

*Lol, I wondered, but I was just like, I'm sure she'll realize it and explain... I'll just go with it.*
Tally thought about it for a second as he gave her the option of an empty house. On one hand, they weren't supposed to get a hotel anyway, since they were too young, but he had a fake ID, which was slightly dangerous, but an empty house? That sounded like a blast. She nodded, "I vote we look for a vacant house. I mean, that can't be too hard to find, right?" She nodded gently, understanding what he meant about the car. In all honesty, she would've slept in the woods if she had to, as long as he was there, it didn't really matter to her. "We'll save money if we don't get a hotel room too and maybe then we can use the fake ID for something a little more fun..."
