Cason woke up early Monday morning and immediately grabbed his board. He set it outside the bathroom and pulled on a pair of blue and black board shorts before he grabbed his board again and headed out to the amazing swell that he would have missed had he slept any later. He paddled out into the ocean and grinned as he saw the perfect wave headed toward the shore. He caught it and stood quickly on his board, balancing perfectly as if he was born surfing. He flowed through the water with seemingly little effort and smiled, feeling the spray of the water against his face. He finally got to the side of the wave and rested back on his board, without ever falling. He glanced back to the beach and spotted several girls watching him. He also saw his mother on the back porch of their beach house. She didn’t look happy. He thought about just ignoring the fact that he’d seen her, but it probably wouldn’t end well if he did and started to paddle back to shore. It was quite disappointing, since the waves were coming in perfectly today.
He scooped his board up under his arm as he reached the beach and ran the rest of the way into shore and smiled at his mother. “What’s up, momma bear?” he asked lightly. “What’s up? I got a letter from your school yesterday saying you withdrew from all of your classes? Are you kidding me, Cason??” she asked, the angriest face he thought he’d ever seen on his mother showing through. “Yeah. Chill mom, it’s not like that’s going to define the rest of my life. I can do plenty without a degree.” “Oh, can you? Can you get a good job?” she asked sharply. “Can you support a family? I don’t think your surfboard can do that for you, young man!” “Maybe not, but who cares?” “Everyone Cason! You should care!” she hollered. “Well I don’t. I don’t see what the big deal is. I’m not happy in school, I’m happy out here.” “If you aren’t in school, then you can not live here. Get a job, Cason, you’re gonna need it.”
His eyes opened wide, “What the hell mom? You’re kicking me out, seriously?” he asked, yelling back at her now. “Pack up, son. I’m not supporting you. This is the last straw.” With those words she walked into the house and said nothing more to him.
--
“Please, Tad. She’s fucking serious. Dad can’t talk her out of it. I’m dying here, man!” Cason begged through his phone to his older cousin who had been living on his own for a long while now, or at least with a roommate. Tad let out a sigh, “Of course, Case. We don’t have an extra bedroom, though, so you’re going to have to sleep on the pull out couch.” “That’s no problem, bro. Thank you so fucking much.” Tad let out a small chuckle, “No worries.” “Alright, I’ll give you a call when I leave.”
--
Cason pulled up to the apartment complex at around 3 AM on a Tuesday. Tad had been working all day Monday and had been to Molly’s house, where normally he would have stayed the night, but he was now asleep in his bed waiting for his cousin to show up. Cason dialed the number once again and Tad woke up not long after the first ring, answering with a faint, “Hullo?” “Hey Tad, I’m here. I’m just gonna bring in a suitcase and my board for now. I’m beat.” Tad nodded, “Me too, come on up, it’s 2A. I’ll be at the door when you get here.”
Cason followed the instructions and headed up the stairwell with his bag and surfboard. He hadn’t showered from his surf session earlier and had sat out in the sun for most of the day. His mother hadn’t let him in until his father got home, for fear that she might change her mind. When he got there, Tad made a face. “I know I reek, man, don’t say it. Mom left me outside all day and I didn’t have time to shower before she kicked me out again.” Tadeus nodded and led him to the bathroom telling him to wash up. “Use whatever you want. There’s a new toothbrush under the sink, if you need it. What’s mine is yours. It’s also Axle’s though, but he doesn’t mind sharing. You’ll meet him tomorrow.” Cason gave a nod and licked his lips lightly. “Seriously, bro. Thank you. I can’t even begin to tell you how glad I am that you rock.” Tad smiled lightly and gave a shrug, “Not a problem. I’ll get your bed pulled out and then I’ve gotta crash. I’ve gotta get up at 6. So I’ll see you tomorrow sometime?” Cason nodded, “Yeah, tomorrow.” “Night.” “Night.”

Cason woke up around eleven the next morning. He stretched out on the couch bed and ran a hand over his face before opening his eyes. What day is it? he wondered, blinking awake. He licked his lips, realizing where he was and sat up. It looked a lot different in the dark. He had never been here to visit Tad before, but it was a nice place as far as apartments go. Axle walked out of the kitchen and smirked. "Good morning sleeping beauty. What time did you get in last night?" he asked. Cason had met Axle before, only once, but he remembered he had liked him. Giving Axle a half smile he shrugged. "Maybe two?" he said, forgetting what time it had been when he finally rolled up to the apartment complex. "Do you guys have anything to eat around here?" Axle nodded, "Yeah, fridge is full stocked. I just went shopping. Make yourself at home." Cason nodded and got himself out of bed. He was wearing a pair of dry board shorts that had been in his bag. The rest of his clothes were in his car along with his surfboard, which was tied to the top.
As he walked to the bathroom he stopped in front of the mirror and smirked. He had the perfect amount of bed head, which meant he only had to take a leak and brush his teeth. Probably put a shirt on. Maybe he'd wait a bit. When he'd finished his two tasks he stepped out and walked through to the kitchen where Axle was sitting, reading a comic book and eating a bowl of Froot Loops. Cason shook his head, "Oh I'm sleeping beauty? You're just now eating breakfast." Axle shook his head, "This is lunch, I just really like cereal." Cason gave him an odd look, but chuckled to himself. He too poured a bowl of fruit loops and started eating them as Axle finished. "I'm going back to work, bro. Could you do me a favor and empty the trash? The dumpster is around back." "Yeah, yeah, no problem, dude." "Thanks," Axle said and he grabbed his backpack before he walked through the front door, leaving Cason to himself in the unfamiliar Apartment.
After he had finished, he emptied his milk in the sink and took the trash out of the plastic bin and knotted the bag. He sighed lightly and started toward the door, still no shirt on, but what was the harm? It was sunny out today. Just as he was stepping out, a woman stepped out of the door opposite Tad and Axle's apartment. A song by Pierce the Veil was swimming into the air of the outdoor hallway. She was beautiful, hair long, flowing down to the middle of her back, dressed only in what looked to be a sleeping gown. In actuality, it was a slip that she used as a nightgown, not that Cason knew the difference. The woman raised a brow, "Well, who do we have here?" she asked, her eyes giving him a once over, going slowly over his groin area before landing back on his sky blue eyes.
Cason raised a brow at the girl. "I'm Cason. Tad's cousin. He's helping me out a little, so I'll be staying here for a while. And you are?" "I'm Annie, the neighbor. I come over for dinner almost every night, so I'm sure you'll see me sometime soon, although, I see you're going to the dumpster as well, so maybe we won't be parting so soon." Cason nodded at her, "You are correct, could you possibly show me where it is? I haven't been out there yet." Annie gave a nod, grinning at him. "Walk with me."
Cason did as he was told, following her as she started down the staircase. "So, Cason, how old are you?" she asked. "I'm nineteen." Annie gave a light nod, "Alright, so you're legal. How's that feel?" Cason let a smile break on his face and shook his head, "Not that great, still not legal enough to drink, just smoke, buy porn and go to jail." Annie laughed lightly, "Ah, well that's fun enough. It's not that great, anyway. The bars. Typically full of wanna-be's and guys who are too horny for their own good. And I know you aren't one of those, are you?" she asked, brushing a light hand over his chest briefly. Cason smirked at her, "Oh yeah? Well are you one of those? I mean, I can clearly see that you aren't a guy, but a wanna-be? Could be possible." Annie raised a brow at him, "I don't know, maybe I am. I mean, who knows what other people call me. I can't define myself."
They reached the dumpster and started back toward the two apartments. She shook her head lightly, laughing at a joke he'd just told her as they reached the place where they would part. "Well it was very nice meeting you, Cason." "Likewise," he said gently. "Let Tad and Axle know that I'm ordering pizza tonight, and you guys can come over. Let him know Molly and Julian are more than welcome too." Cason nodded, "Will do. Have a good day, Annie." Giving him one last smile, Annie nodded, "You too, Cason."

Cason had all but relived those few moments of the day all day long. He figured that he would be able to go to the dinner, he didn't have anything better to do, anyway. However, he had to tell Tad and Axle still. He didn't know Axle's number but he pulled out his phone and sent a call to his cousin. "Hey bro, what's up?" Tad answered light heartedly. "Hey, uhm, your neighbor, Annie invited us over for dinner tonight. She said you could bring Molly and Julian along with you too. She's ordering some pizzas and some other guy is coming? Bo?" he asked, trying to remember the story. Tad nodded, though Cason couldn't see that. "Alright, well, I'm going to have to decline. Molly and I are going out with Julian tonight. Tell her thanks though. I'll shoot Axle a text. You should still go, though, if you'd like. I'm sure she'd love to have you."
Cason hung up and smirked, of course he was going to go. He wanted to figure this girl out. He stood from where he sat and walked to the bathroom to shower and prepare for that night. He wanted to look his best, which wasn't hard for him. It took him a shower, brushing his teeth and a dab of hair gel and he was done. Paired with some cologne, and he was hot. He left the room in only his towel, headed for the bag he'd brought and got a grey top and a pair of dark wash jeans and put them on quickly, not even bothering with underwear. He ran a hand through his hair and smiled.
It was about that time. He had gotten a text from Tad telling him that neither of them would be home this evening and Cason should go have dinner with Annie. That didn't bother him any. He walked across the hall and knocked on her door. She came and opened it not too long after and Cason nearly had to push his jaw to get it to shut. She was even more attractive than she had been before. Her hair was still down, styled the same, but her night dress had been swapped for a tanktop that was cut way too low to be an accident paired with a pair of Daisy Dukes. She smiled at him, "Just you?" she asked, not as if she were disappointed, more just an inquiry. He nodded and explained where the other two boys were tonight and she nodded, "Well then, looks like it's just the two of us. One pizza should be enough. D'you want breadsticks?" she asked, walking into the apartment, leaving the door open for him to follow. He shook his head, stepping inside and shutting the door behind him, "Nah, I'm fine without it. Uhm, what happened to your... uh... friend?" he asked, not sure what to call the last boy she'd mentioned. "Bo? He had to do something with his girlfriend's diner or something. No big deal."
Score, he thought. He licked his lips and stepped into the living room, making himself comfortable on the couch as he waited. She returned to the living room and smiled, "It'll be about thirty minutes, she said, sitting next to him and curling her feet up underneath herself. They sat and talked about nothing in particular, friendships, boats, surfing, sharks, zombies, ghosts. The conversation flowed effortlessly, taking strange turns that lead to laugher and a lot of flirty arm touching by Annie. The bell rang and Annie started to stand up, but Cason stopped her and got up himself. He started toward the door and she shook her head, "No, it's okay, Cason, she said, beating him to the door and opening it before he had a say. She leaned against the doorframe and gave the delivery boy a gentle and seductive smile. "Hey. How much do I owe you?" she asked, her hand running down from her neck to the middle of her chest where her top dipped down way too low. God damn, that's hot, Cason thought to himself. The boy stumbled over his words, but finally spit out that he thought he was a little bit late, so it was free. She smiled at him and gave him a thank you before she closed the door and raised a brow at Cason. "Aren't you glad I did that?" she asked. "He would've made you pay."
Cason laughed lightly, "Yeah, but I didn't steal from a poor delivery boy who is probably not legal, by the way." "Doesn't mean he can't look. I'm sure he looks at things online all the time," she said with a wink. They returned to their places in the living room and before too long they were both full and were back to talking about anything and everything that their minds took them, but when the conversation moved to the death penalty, he seriously wondered how they had gotten there. All of a sudden though, she was right next to him, drawing small circles on the hair of his arm. Que sex playlist, Cason thought to himself with a smile. He had a very strange sex playlist if he said so himself, but he thought it was perfect. It started with "I'm Not Calling You A Liar" by Florence and the Machine and ended with "Million Dollar Houses" by Pierce the Veil. As he said that he started it playing in his head.
"I don't know about that. I think that if you kill someone, you don't deserve to live yourself," he said, agreeing with what Annie had been saying. She licked her lips and let her eyes move from his arm to his eyes. Apparently the wine she had been drinking all night had made its way through her bloodstream and he wasn't complaining. "If I killed someone would you help me hide the body?" she asked, with a huge smirk, obviously joking. He let his face move a little closer to hers, looking around the room as if making sure no one could hear him before he looked straight into her eyes, the same smirk playing on his lips, "Of course."
She looked at his eyes for a second more and then moved her lips the few inches they needed to go to be touching his. Cason's arms instinctively moved around her body, pulling her closer as he returned the fire that her kiss was feeding him. Before he knew it, she had his shirt pulled off over his head and it was tossed across the room. Somehow they had moved to a lying position, Annie on top of Cason and he wasn't about to change a thing. She sat up. She was straddling his groin and he smirked up at her. He licked his lips and his mouth grew into another grin, "Impress me."

Cason woke up naked in an unfamiliar bed. The girl that once laid there was no longer in bed with him, but he heard a shower running, and he figured that must be where she was. He sat up in the bed and grinned, remembering the night before. He rested his shoulders against the backboard and clasped his hands behind his head as if he were proud of himself. He had to admit, this girl was sexy. One of the best girls he'd ever been with, and she didn't have a horrible personality like the rest of them. She was classy, but hot. He liked that. Well, she was as classy as a girl who sleeps with a guy the first day she meets him can be.
He remained like that for a while, smiling at Annie as she stepped out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel. She grinned back at him, "Good morning, stud," she said, a glint in her eye as she walked over to her dresser, but then thought about it and dropped the plan entirely. She moved, still wrapped in her towel back to the bed and laid down next to him, "How would you feel about staying in bed with me today?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. God forbid he object to her desire. That just wasn't his style. When a woman asks you to stay, you stay. It might have helped that she was basically hanging sex right in front of his face. Good sex.
It wasn't as if he really cared about her, although of course he did. Maybe not romantically really, but he didn't want a relationship or anything. That wasn't really his thing. She seemed like the type that would understand, after all, she'd basically used her body to get free food the night before. He knew Tad and Axle would probably wonder what happened to him, but he figured they were big boys. They could put two and two together to get four. He jerked his head to the side, motioning for her to cuddle up to him and she didn't waste any time. She moved to her knees and pressed as closely to him as she could before she took his face in one hand and kissed him, much like she had the night before.
