"Garret Walker would pay to watch me cower like a bitch. I don't know if he'd kill, but I wouldn't put it out of the equation completely and I'm not a terrible liar, I just can't lie to you, there's a big difference, you're the human lie detector as far as I'm concerned." He closed his eyes and let her fingertips trace over the lines of his face. "You know me too well around you I'm an open book. Half the time I don't know why you let me get away with the shit I get away with. If I ever took on some top secret job and the bad guys wanted to get to me all they'd have to do is sit you in the room with me and that'd be the end of me." He grinned and shook his eyes as she closed hers and stated that she didn't know what it was and asked if he knew. "I wish I knew." He let his finger slide down her nose and leaned forward to kiss her. "Is there something going on with your family that you're concerned about?" He had another question on his mind, but he was hoping he wouldn't have to ask. "You still thinking about Dan?" He didn't mean for it to sound like he was accusing her of it, if she needed to think about him that was her business and he couldn't hold it against her. His mind traveled back to the question he didn't want to ask about her health. God he hoped she wasn't in danger of coming out of remission. He couldn't bare to lose her again, he had half the mind to make sure if she did that he was prepared to travel wherever it was she was going for treatment that way they'd be hard pressed to lose communication again.

Aya scoffed at the second part of Monte’s statement; the first part she had no doubt about. After all, she was sure Garret would have paid big money to see Monte cower. The second part however did leave much to be debated about. “Me? A human lie-detector? Yeah right. I think I can only tell when you and maybe Garret are lying. Everyone else… I highly doubt it.” She had never really thought about it but he did have a point. Aya always did have the knack for determining whether Monte was talking shit or not. She shrugged lightly and smiled at his next comment. “I’m not sure about why I let you get away with it either. Maybe it’s love. Maybe I just get tired of calling you on your shit.”
“No problems other than Seraph getting apeshit crazy for her upcoming nuptials…” She tried to think of another problem her family was currently going through but was distracted by his light kiss. It made her blink slowly and smile. “Mmm, nope. Can’t think of anything else.” Aya bit her bottom lip guiltily; she had been thinking about Dan lately. “Well, I’ve been kind of worried about him. I haven’t seen hide nor hair of him and I guess that’s understandable; him wanting to avoid the bitch who broke his heart and all that…” She shrugged helplessly; it still hurt to think about let alone talk about it. “I just… I hope he’s okay.” But she had a feeling that wasn’t what was bothering her either; she had been concerned about Dan ever since the last time she had seen him and her sudden insomnia had only begun a couple of days ago.
Aya looked at Monte, meeting his gaze before smiling a bit. “Maybe I just missed being with you is all.”

"Alright you got me, but what I meant is you're a human lie detector for me. Doesn't matter in the event you were going to beat me up, I'd stand up and take it if Garret were around, just cause my pride can't take that sort of humiliation." He grinned. "It's love, you put up with me because you love me and maybe a fourth of the time it's because you're just tired. But if I didn't lie so much in your presence we'd have no fun." He sighed. "I only do it to entertain you, you know."
"Have you tried calling him?" He asked after a second. "I'd understand if you needed to talk to him. Heck maybe you could convince him to let me off the hook. Beautiful girl like you, bewitching the minds of handsome lads all over Riverside..." He joked, but was completely serious about her calling and talking to him if she needed it. He was about to ask if that was what had bothered her, but she interrupted him.
He tightened his arms around her and rested his head on the pillow next to hers. "I'm here and I've nothing important to do for the next couple of months so I won't leave until you're sick of me." He turned his face and kissed her temple. "You want to sleeping again?"

Aya laughed softly and nodded in agreement; his pride really would refuse to bow down if Garret Walker was around. Men and their pissing matches; she could only shake her head in amusement. “Alright then I promise not to make you cry like a bitch around anyone, especially Garret.” She shook her head again and laughed. She quirked a brow full of disbelief at him. “You do it to entertain me and not yourself? Why do I sense this is more of your bullshit huh?” Aya couldn’t help but giggle again; she was sure he enjoyed it a lot more than she did. But he did have a point; their relationship wouldn’t be the same if he didn’t talk so much shit. Dare she say that it was something she loved about him? Maybe.
She scoffed and moved closer so she could lightly pinch the bridge of his nose. “You’re mean Monte Mondego.” Aya let go of his nose but thought about his proposition. Maybe she did need to talk to him… Then again, would he even listen to anything she said? Would Dan even answer the phone if he knew it was her? “Maybe I will… But what if he doesn’t want to see me? He may not be ready yet… Hell, I don’t know if I’m ready yet.” She chewed on her bottom lip thoughtfully as she weighed out her options. It definitely was an option now—to talk to Dan. Maybe it could help with her sleeplessness.
Aya turned on her side so she could face Monte; smiling lightly. “I’d never be sick of you Monte. I wonder if you’d mind much if I asked you to sleep over for those couple of months.” She laughed softly and curled into him, putting a hand on the nape of his neck. “But I bet you’d like that huh?”

"Yeah, I only do it for your benefit, I get absolutely nothing from lying and bullshitting." He laughed at himself and closed his eyes, not responding to her pinching his nose or calling him mean, he already knew that much about himself. "If he doesn't want to see you, he's crazy and doesn't deserve your time." He said before he could filter it and make it sound less like an asinine comment. "Do it when you feel ready, you've always seemed to be a pretty good judge for telling when it's the right time to say or do something."
He opened his eyes and smiled at her. "I'm sure if we spent the next several months in one another's company without a break you'd be sick of me. I'd get on your nerves, I might not even make it out alive after a week." He grinned. "Let's do it." He kissed her lips softly, then entertained a better, longer kiss. "If you don't think your mom and family would mind that is? Otherwise I'm sure Avery wouldn't put us out."

Aya laughed softly and shook her head. “So basically you’re saying me avoiding you and the rest of the world after I broke up with Dan and getting you and Garret worried so sick that he actually yelled when I called him is an example of good judgment?” She ran a hand through his short hair and smiled, curling up further into him. “Mmm, thanks Monte. I get what you mean. I just… I dunno. I’m a bit scared to be honest.” And she was a bit nervous to confront him; she did want them to be friends again but that also seemed cruel to Dan. As if she was adding salt to the wound.
She couldn’t help but close her eyes, pulling him closer to her when he tried for a longer kiss. It made her dizzy and she was sure when she pulled away, she was smiling. “You know I’d never get tired of you.” Aya buried her face into the crook of his neck; she was afraid she’d get all weepy and ridiculous. “After all that drama and time we spent apart; I’d be glad for a few months where I’d see you every night before I slept. Kai and Cameron would probably mind a bit but I’m willing to risk it.”

"Alright, maybe not in that situation, but every other time you've been pretty good about it. You held your tongue the first time we met until you knew it was safe to take a stab at me." He grinned, their first meeting was amusing on more than one level. "I don't know what else to say to give you the confidence to approach him without fear. But you'll figure it out, you always do." He kissed her nose and tightened his arms around her.
"If you're sure I won't make you sick of me I'm up to the challenge." He ran his fingers through her hair and smiled to himself, he'd liked it short, but he always loved it when she kept her hair long. "If Kai and Cameron get to the point where they can't stand seeing me around, I'll just kidnap you and take you to Avery's alright. We'll deal with their gripes when we feel up to it." He closed his eyes, but continued to play with her hair. "Get some sleep, I promise not to leave." That was a change of pace for sure, how many times in the past year had he settled next to some girl and made it appear as if he'd be there in the morning when they woke? Too many to count for sure, some of them he hadn't even given them false hope, he'd just left after he got what he wanted. That same pull was never present with Aya, everything was different with her and he liked it. The emptiness of all the other meaningless hook ups was missing, pleasant.

She giggled softly and nodded. “Your faith in me is incredible Monte. Thank you.” Aya couldn’t help but cup his cheek and kiss him lightly. “What would I do without you huh? Life would be so drab and gloomy.” Aya couldn’t help but cringe at the thought of Kai and Cameron’s faces when they figured out Monte was with her every night. “You know what? I don’t care what they think about it. I love Kai and Cameron; I’ve relied on them ever since I was little but I hope they do realize that I’m growing up and I want to make my own decisions.” Her eyes were closed and she was finally getting a bit sleepy. “You’re my choice Montgomery Mondego. “
Opening one eye, she smiled at him and leaned in for one more kiss. “I know you’re not going anywhere. It’s you after all; you’d never leave me.” Maybe it was because she knew deep down what a great person Monte was, or maybe it was just that she knew he would never break her heart again. Maybe it was a combination of both, whatever it was, she knew he’d be there in the morning.

Monte accepted every single one of her kisses, but said nothing more as her eyes closed. He smiled when she opened the one eye, then closed his and thought to himself. He thought about how funny it was that she her life would be so drab and gloomy without him around, when he was usually a pessimist. He thought of himself as the gloomy cloud that loomed over her, what would she accomplish, who would she have loved if he hadn't been sulking in her mother's cafe? Would she have fallen for Dan and loved him like she loved him if he hadn't screwed that up for her? What would he have done without her was the real question?
Would he have joined the high school baseball team if he didn't need a reason to stay out of trouble? Of course he wouldn't have, he'd already said he would have laughed at Avery if he'd asked. So where would he be? Would he have even made it out of high school? Questions kept assaulting his brain and finally he just stopped thinking and settled himself in next to her for the night.

Thoughts about the future flitted through her mind; choices, options and decisions she would make in the near future that concerned the direction her life was taking. It made her realize that she was growing up; she was finally, really and truly becoming a woman who needed to stand firm in her beliefs and to keep growing and making mistakes and learning from them. These concerns were like a loud neighbor blaring techno music in the middle of the night while she was trying to get a good night's rest and she realized that none of it mattered. Not at that very moment anyway; all she needed to think about was what she had: Monte, beside her promising to stay with her and never leave her. And that's all she really needed to know.
A soft smile graced her lips as she finally fell into the hands of Morpheus, blissfully sleeping away the worry, stress and the questions that she had been trying to answer for the past three days. Sleep came easily to her then and when she woke up hours later, she knew she had been dreaming but she couldn't seem to remember a single one.
Aya woke, moving lazily like a cat and yawning as she turned to see Monte slumbering beside her. His face was so innocent the way it was; asleep and unaware of the world that continued to go on, he was at a standstill. She bit her bottom lip to keep from grinning and moved out of his embrace, fumbling for the Polaroid camera her brother and Cameron had bought for her last Christmas. She managed to catch it with her index finger and thumb and moved ever so carefully so that she could take a picture of her sleeping boyfriend.

Once Aya took the picture of him sleeping he began to stir, he'd noticed her absence and it startled him awake. He sat up and searched the room for her, breathing a sigh of relief when he spotted her with her camera. "Getting another illegal picture in huh?" He ran the base of his hand in his eyes to wake himself up. "Have you been up long?" He asked, fumbling with the blanket he'd somehow got himself tangled up in so he could get to her. His hands encircled her waist and pulled her gently to him.

She almost fell out of the bed in surprise when he moved to alertness. Aya giggled softly as she took the picture from the Polaroid, fanning it until she could see his picture printed on the paper. She bit her bottom lip when she saw it; this... This was her new favorite. Her eyes were dancing when she met his gaze and she grinned; she couldn't help it really. "Illegal or not, you know you let me take them anyway so hush." Aya shook her head as a reply, letting him move her back into the bed. The picture and the camera lay forgotten on her bedside table as she curled up into him and lightly kissed his mouth. "No, I just woke up like... 5 minutes ago. I swear."

Monte shrugged a shoulder and then kissed her mouth, not caring in the slightest that they both had morning breath. "Yeah is that right?" He asked, sneaking a quick look around the room. "You sure you haven't been snapping polaroids of me for hours to use against me?" He kissed her again and then pulled the blanket over both their heads. "You just love piling up stacks of pictures to blackmail me with later don't you? Was my mouth hanging open with drool running down my face?" He knew it hadn't, he just liked to tease her. "I survived one night, you think anyone knows I'm here?"

Aya scoffed and laughed at the same time, lightly hitting him on the shoulder. "Monte, do I look like a stalker to you? Besides, I've never used the pictures to blackmail you; I'm pretty sure if I asked you for anything you'd let me do it so it's not a big deal." She giggled like a schoolgirl when he threw the covers over them. Aya felt like they were all alone in their own little world; hidden from reality and its cruelties. She bit her bottom lip and grinned at him. "I don't think it's possible for you to not look good in a picture so hush."
Falling silent, Aya considered the possibility that her family was still unaware of her boyfriend's presence in the house and then quickly dismissed the notion. "You drove here didn't you? They probably see your car outside." It was a time like this when Aya wished her family members, especially her mom, weren't so intuitive. "Then again, they haven't called you down for breakfast so I guess they're pretending they don't know." How long Cameron and Kai could pretend was another problem altogether; one she didn't want to think about in the slightest.

Monte laughed. "Actually yes, yes you do, you are the sexiest stalker I have ever known and you can stalk me any day." He grinned down at her and then couldn't prevent his laughter from flowing out of him. "You used the first picture you ever took of me to blackmail me into asking you out, so don't say never. But you're right I always look good, I'm like Barney Stinson that way, I always look good."
"I did drive here, I parked on the street so why haven't they invited me to breakfast?" He asked. "I like pancakes." He buried his face in her neck and sucked gently. "I especially enjoy pancakes with miniature chocolate kisses." He pressed his lips to the soft pink mark on her neck. "How much time do we have before someone comes barging in?"
