Cameron fiddled with his phone before tapping out a few sentences and sending them to Taylor. Are you busy tonight? I have a surprise for you if you’re up to it :) It was a Friday night and though he had been planning this for some time, he was still a bit jittery about it. He wasn’t naturally romantic like his cousins who he had asked for advice from. Mikhael had laughed at him for a bit but he would have suffered through it for the advice that he had received. It was pretty golden.
He was glad his family was so understanding and that their house was so big. Aunt Kris had recently taken steps to renovating the backyard. She had suddenly taken a liking to big gardens and gazebos and had made one for her own personal use. Someone had once mentioned that she had too much time on her hands and she merely responded with a toothy, Cheshire-cat like grin.

Taylor had just gotten out of the shower and was drying her hair when her phone went off. She didn't have any plans for the evening, so she figured that she would just go out and drive around for awhile to see what was going on. As soon as she read the text message on the screen, her face instantly lit up. Ooooooo a surprise?! Do I even get a hint? Of course I'm up for anything that involves you ;) She racked her brain, trying to think of what Cameron could possibly have planned.
As she tried to come up with ideas, she headed straight for her closet in search of something to wear. She hadn't asked him how she should be dressed for the evening, but she figured that she couldn't go wrong with a sundress. After about ten minutes of searching, she finally located her green sundress and threw it on. She loved it because it hugged her in all of the right places.

His phone buzzed once before he could dive for it and read her message; it made his smile even wider as he tapped out the reply. Naah, it'll ruin it. Dress warmly though. See you soon. He had been standing in his jeans the entire time, waiting and hoping that Taylor would come out and meet him, or else all the planning would have been all for naught. He dropped the phone into his pocket before moving off the bed to get changed. He picked out a white button down and a dark blue cardigan that he folded up to his elbows. Dark blue sneakers completed his look and with a nod of approval to the floor length mirror, he was out the door. Cameron went down the steps two at a time, passing by the kitchen but backtracking when he saw that his aunt was having coffee with Georgie. “Hey Aunt K.” She waved at the boy and gave him a thumbs up before he left. “Good luck for tonight.” He chuckled softly and responded with a wave and one of his cheeky grins. “Thanks.” He passed by the living room where Kai and Joseph were currently in a deep conversation about symphonies and orchestras and Xander was at the end of the couch, giggling like an idiot at something Collins had probably texted him. He shook his head in amusement; he couldn’t really make fun of him for it though because in reality, he was probably as whipped as Xander. He finally made it out the door and into his car. Cameron was technically Taylor’s neighbor but since he was going to take her to the beach, he needed the car for the short drive. He texted her a quick Be there in a minute before starting the car and driving the almost invisible distance between their houses.

Taylor went into slight panic mode after reading Cameron's reply. She didn't really have anything to dress warmly in. Since it was almost summertime, most of her jackets were packed away in a container in the basement. Plus she hadn't really felt a need for heavier clothes since moving to the warmer climate of Riverside. She rummaged through her closet yet again, hoping that she'd find something decent to wear.
Unfortunately, the best that she could find on short notice was an old gray hoodie belonging to one of her godsiblings. It was better than nothing, but she couldn't help but feel a little disappointed that Cameron wouldn't be able to see the way the tight way that her dress fit. After sliding on her shoes, applying her makeup, and quickly running a brush through her hair, she headed downstairs. Her cell phone went off as soon as she reached the bottom of the stairs, informing her that Cameron was on his way. She stood next to the door and kept a look out, eager to see what he had planned.

Cameron left the engine running as he got out; it wasn’t like it’d take an hour to get Taylor. Knowing her, she was probably just sitting pretty and waiting for him to get there. The thought of her made him smile slightly as he walked to her door and rang the bell. Sliding a hand into his back pocket, he waited for her to open the door. He was secretly nervous about how she’d react to his surprise; he was never the type to give surprises nor was he very romantic so this first gesture put a legion of butterflies in his stomach. He took a deep breath to try to calm himself but it seemed to only make the flurry worse.

Taylor opened the door the second that she heard the bell. In the past she would have either asked someone else to open the door or opened it herself a few minutes later. She never wanted to appear too eager when it came to Cameron or any other guy for that matter. Sure, she usually came on strong with the flirting, but when it came to dates and other more serious things, she always that it would be more fun to make them wait. However, things were different now. Even though their relationship wasn't official or set in stone, Cameron was still the only guy in her life and had been for the past year. He didn't seem to mind it when she acted excited or giddy around him, which she loved. There were still some things she needed to get sorted out, but she had never felt more comfortable with a guy in her life. "My, my, aren't we handsome?" she asked, grinning proudly at his choice of outfit.

The door opened soon enough and Cameron couldn’t help but grin toothily at Taylor. He tried a mock bow, still smiling. “For you, I try.” He took a step forward to lightly kiss her on the mouth, “I missed you Taylor.” Pulling away, he offered his arm to her chuckling softly. “You don’t seem too pleased about the dressing warmly part of my message.” Cameron had noticed the hoodie and he was sure she had a much lovelier outfit underneath it and that must have irked her somehow. “I should have warned you earlier so you could prepare.” It didn’t matter to him in truth; to him she was what made something beautiful and not the other way around.
He walked her to his car, stopping only when he was at the passenger door. “Well…” He thought of a way to remedy it, pausing to figure something out for his lady. Cameron chewed on his bottom lip before he murmured a quick ‘Aha’! Quickly extricating himself from Taylor, he shrugged out of his cardigan before putting out his hand as if he was asking for something from Taylor. “Your hoodie please?”

"I missed you more," Taylor said, kissing him in return. She gave him the once over again and laughed. "You're doing a hell of lot more than just trying. Someone doesn't just become incredibly hot by simply trying. They have to put a lot of effort into it." She took his arm and walked with him to the car. She was hardly surprised that he had caught on to how she felt about her gray hoodie. He always had this way of reading her mind. Usually, it made her nervous, but the hoodie was very trivial compared to most of the thoughts that she'd had in the past. "Awwww don't worry about it. It's not a big deal." Even though she was a little disappointed, the important thing was that they got to spend time together, not what she was wearing.
Confused by his sudden request, she took off the hoodie and handed it over to him, revealing the dress that she had on underneath. Well at least he gets to see it now, she thought to herself with a smile. "Wow, you still look hot without the cardigan. I swear, you look hot in just about anything...."

Cameron shrugged at her comment and chuckled, “No I seriously just threw this on. But thank you; you’re probably the reason for my hyper-inflated ego, but thank you Taylor.” He tucked the gray hoodie under his arm and offered her his cardigan, draping it over her shoulders. He offered her a candid shrug. “Hmm, looks good. But you know, to me you’d look hot even if you were wearing a burlap sack.” Cameron couldn’t help but check her out though. “What do you think?”

"I wasn't aware that I had made such a huge contribution to your ego, but you're very welcome." Taylor took the cardigan off her shoulders and put it on completely, covering up her arms in the process. "If you think I look good, then I'm sure I look good. I'm not sure about the burlap sack, but I'm happy you think that I look good in anything." That made her even more happier than she'd let on. So many times she had gone crazy, trying to figure out what to wear when she was around him. It was nice that she wouldn't have to feel that way anymore.
