Yi Wu was born in Shanghai, China to an older couple who have unfortunately passed on by now. He works in international business and is mostly fluent in English, but he tends to not speak much in general, and has a naturally shy and passive demeanor. Because he is not naturally talkative, he tends to have a hard keeping up with his kid's lives, but he really does care for and love them.

Ying, as her friends call her, became a typical housewife after her daughter was born. She went to college and majored in psychology, and was a school counselor until she began taking care of her own kids. She loves kids and knew from a young age she wanted more than one (which only one child is allowed in China). Because she's so caring, she is more involved in her kid's lives, and for the years JuLong was under the influence of drugs, felt like she had failed him, so she put all her energy into caring for her other two kids. Her English is only at a beginning level, but she immediately enrolled in an ESL class with the help of her husband. Learning English, as well as walking along the beach, has become her hobby these days.
