Eric's "Secret" Relationship
May 29th 2012
It was finally summer, and Beverly and Eric both decided it was time to hang out again. Ever since high school started, it seemed like the only times they actually hung out together was either at school or at home. And even then, it wouldn’t be for that long. Sure they teased each other like any other teenage siblings would do, but they loved each other. They were each other’s twin, and they missed sharing secrets with each other.
So they decided on their old hang out spot, the lake in the forest. Eric would climb up the tallest tree, and cannon ball into the lake, getting Beverly completely soaked, not to mention pissed. She got him back though, like any other sister would. She did just the same, climbing up the same tree, and cannon balled in the same spot where Eric had landed, dunking him under with her, and not giving him mercy. It was like old times with these two.
It’s been about what seems like an hour of them just splashing and goofing around like old times, and then Beverly had to bring up that subject. “So how have you and Batari been?”
Eric practically choked on the imaginary water he had in his mouth, not believing that his sister actually went there. “Uh, we’re doing fine. You know...still good friends, hanging out....good friends.” he told her, his tone getting softer and softer towards the end.
Beverly raised a brow at him. “So....that’s it? Nothing else major has happened between you two?”
“Yeah, that’s it. I mean besides the fact that I’ve been teaching her how to surf like I promised. Nothing else has happened. That’s it.” he said as a matter of factly.
Beverly couldn’t believe it though. Something about the way her brother was talking wasn’t making any sense to her at all. Something had to have happened. She knew Eric, she always have. And knowing how he was, there had to be something else, and Beverly was going to find out what.
Till then, Beverly just rolled her eyes as simple as that, and swam over to a rock to hop out and rest on for a bit. Eric watched her give him the silent treatment for a bit, knowing what was going on in her head. “Bev, seriously! Nothing is happening. Why don’t you believe me?” he tried persuading her again.
Beverly just continued ringing out her hair nonchalantly. “I never said I didn’t believe you, Eric.” she said simply, whipping her hair behind her.
“But you were thinking it. I know you were. Twilepathy, remember?” he reminded her, tapping on his temple when he mentioned their twin telepathy. Beverly always hated it whenever he mentioned that, seeing as she rolled her eyes at him again. She didn’t believe in it, but Eric seemed to for some reason. “Bev, come on....let’s just enjoy this day without any arguments for once, alright? Please? I miss chilling with you.” Eric pleaded, swimming over to the rock to rest his forearms on, while getting in better contact with Beverly.
Beverly furrowed her eyebrows at him, as if she just figured out something just by looking at her brother. “You and Batari kissed, didn’t you?!” she finally exclaimed. Eric’s facial expression answered that question though, and Beverly let out a laugh, throwing her head back. “I knew it! You guys kissed! And now you’re going out now, huh? Tell me its true! Oh my god, my brother finally has a girlfriend! That’s epic!” Beverly screamed out, unable to control her rambling anymore. Well, until Eric splashed her in the face with a glare. “What? I’m proud of you little bro.” She laughed, leaning over to ruffle his hair, only to cause him to push off the rock back into the water away from his suddenly peppy twin sister.
“Nothing happened.” Eric repeated, having his back to her now. “Yeah, we kissed....so what? It’s just a measly little kiss, alright?”
“You liked it though, huh? Come on, Eric, admit it.”
Eric shook his head, feeling suddenly annoyed with Beverly. After a short moment he spun back around, still keeping his distance in the water though. “Fine. I’ll admit it! I liked it! No...I loved it! It felt amazing, Bev. My first kiss....my first girlfriend. And guess what, it was on our first date that we shared it too! And you want to know what else? I cannot wait until our next date. I don’t know when or where it’ll be....but I can’t wait. I love Batari, Bev. Probably as much as you love Chai. I don’t know how to explain it, but....” he turned back around, seeming to cool off a little bit, “There’s just this feeling I get everytime I see her. O-or even talk about her...”
Beverly gladly listened to Eric’s rambles. She was just happy to see her brother finally in a committed relationship with a girl he really cares about. Not to mention admitting it to her full on. As he got to the end though, Beverly couldn’t help but grin wider, answering his question for him. “It’s called love, Eric. You’ve fallen in love.” she smiled deeper, just so proud to finally see something different about Eric, rather than the usual tough, competitive side to him. Is it possible to love your siblings even more than you did before? Because that’s how Beverly felt with Eric now. He was changing. In a good way, too.
