I'm A Human Too and I Have Value

Mady smiled lightly at the man standing across from her. They were having a clothing drive at the town hall and she was one of three people working the drive from three to five. She was almost finished with her shift, only having about twenty minutes left. "Thank you so much, the people at the shelter will really appreciate this," she said gently as she took the bag of clothes from him and walked back to the truck to load it in the bed.

She licked her lips and wiped her brow with the bandana she had wrapped and tied around her wrist. It wasn't a particularly cool day and she had been there during the hottest part of it. It wasn't too bad. She liked helping people and it made her feel good about herself.

Logan's mother had told him that there was a clothing drive at the townhall, and had asked him if he could bring the clothes that didn't fit him or his sisters anymore. Logan had agreed to donate the clothes, and had them put in a bag. He smiled and walked up to one of the girls who were helping out with the drive and held out the bag full of the clothes he was donating. "Uh, hi." he said, with a small smile. He liked to donate to the charities, it made him kind of happy to know that he was helping out.

Madalyne smiled at the boy as he handed his bag over to her, "Hey, thanks. Are you new around here?" she asked lightly, not having seen him before at school or around the town. She glanced over at Vic, a boy she was working with who was also her friend, and he smiled at her, raising his eyebrows and taking the bag. He took it to the truck so she wouldn't have to. She licked her lips and smiled at him, "The people at the shelter really appreciate the clothes by the way."

[Gigi]

"No problem," Logan told her with a small smile. He really didn't mind donating clothes to a shelter. It made him feel happy and good about himself for helping out. "Yeah, we moved here...two days ago." he said. His family and him had moved from New York City. Despite that his sisters were annoyed by the move, he really wasn't too annoyed. He wasn't popular in New York. "I'm Logan McGinty, by the way." he told her, smiling. He would have volunteered if he knew that there was a clothes drive before.

Mady smiled at him and nodded, but licked her lips, a bit confused. "Why wouldn't you donate the clothes you didn't want before you moved?" she asked, not trying to make fun or anything, just actually wondering. "It just seems like you'd have an easier time if you had less to bring along." She remained innocent, not teasing or joking in any way. She smiled as he said his name, "Madalyne Bicek. Or Mady, I suppose. That's what everyone else calls me," she said with a light smile, suggesting that he call her that too. She held out her hand for him to shake, the proper thing to do in a meeting as she was taught.

[Gigi]

Logan laughed, "Good point." he said, feeling embarrassed. Mady didn't seem like she was teasing, or laughing at him. He bit his lower lip. "Maybe it's cause we were all busy packing." he told her, simply. Mady was right, he and his family would have saved the trouble of packing clothes that didn't fit them anymore and bringing them in Riverside, only to donate them. It would have been better to donate them while they were in New York. They wouldn't have much to carry. The boy shrugged it off. He noticed that she offered her hand in a shake. Logan reached out and shook her hand, a small smile appearing on his face. "Um, it's nice to meet you, Mady." he told her, shaking her hand.

Mady smiled lightly at him, understanding what he meant, "I guess that's true. Moving is stressful. I haven't done it since I was in elementary school, but I could definitely see where it would keep you too busy to think about donating stuff." She smiled at him again. "Nice to meet you too." She wasn't really very forward ever, it wasn't her thing. Vic walked up behind her, having heard the whole thing, then landed beside her at the table, "Hey Mady, why don't you show him around since he's new?" he asked her. "We've only got ten minutes anyway."
Mady licked her lips, she could do that, she nodded and looked back at Logan, "Uh, if that's okay with you, I'm happy to..."

Logan smiled, relieved that Mady understood what he meant. He really didn't want to look like an idiot when he was meeting new people, being the newbie in town. What a great way to get popular, right? Despite that Logan didn't mind not being popular, he didn't want to look like an idiot. Never. The boy bit his lower lip. Mady hadn't moved since elementary. So, Mady wasn't new in Riverside, like him. She had been here for quite a while. Logan noticed a boy from behind Mady suggest that she should show him around, cause they she only had ten minutes left of her shift, anyways. A small smile appeared on Logan's face at the suggestion for Mady to show him around. "Y-yeah, that would be great, if you could." he told her. "Thanks." he said, his smile widening eagerly.

The boy seemed to get excited with her question and that made her blush for some reason. She licked her lips and giggled lightly, "Alright, well, let me get my bag and I'll go show you around," she said gently. She turned around and bit her lip, with the light smile still gracing her face. She couldn't believe that this was happening. She hadn't really had much luck in the boy world, although, this could turn out to be another Vic thing. They had been set up by their older brothers, but it didn't really work out. They made better friends than anything. She grabbed her messenger bag and walked back over to him. "Ready?" she asked lightly.

[Gigi]

"O-okay, thanks." Logan said with a small smile. Logan hadn't had much luck with girls either. Despite that he had dated some girls in New York before he moved, he had never really been "in love" with them. Maybe he'd meet a girl in Riverside and fall in love with her. But it was fine with him if he didn't meet the girl, Logan wasn't really looking for a romance. Maybe friends, but not really a relationship. Not at the moment. He smiled when he noticed Mady started walking towards him with her bag. Logan nodded. "Yeah," he told her eagerly, licking his lips. "I'm ready." he smiled at her.

Madalyne smiled at him when he answered positively. She nodded and started to walk to the sidewalk. "So I guess we'll go north first and work our way around and back to the center of town. Does that sound good?" she asked, looking over at him. She felt like she was probably going to embarrass herself at some point in time though this little tour. She had a pretty easy time doing that to herself, after all. She licked her lips and looked at him, "So where did you say you were from?"

[Gigi]

Logan smiled and nodded, "Yeah, that sounds great." he told her, licking his lips. "I'm from New York City." Logan said. He had been living in New York for his whole life--it felt kind of weird when he moved to Riverside. But it was fine with him. It gave him a chance to start over and make other friends. Of course, he'll miss his friends back in New York. "So, uh...what about you? Where did you live before you moved here?" Mady had said that she hadn't moved since she was in elementary.

Mady nodded at him as he told her where he was from. "That must be weird. Going from New York City to little bitty Riverside." She licked her lips. She couldn't even imagine the change it had to have been. She had moved from a 'city' but it was no where near the size of New York. She shook her head lightly. "Have you ever heard of a town called Evansville? It's in Indiana. That's where I'm from. It's bigger than Riverside, but a lot smaller than New York." She bit her lip again and smiled, "So what's New York like? I've always wanted to go..."

Logan laughed softly, "Yeah, kind of," he told her honestly. "I never heard of Evansville before." he said, with a small laugh. "New York is really busy," he told her, biting his lower lip. Heather got into traffic a lot there, and was late for work. Logan smiled gently, "What about Evansville," he asked, "Is it busy there?" he bit his lower lip. "What's it like there?" Logan asked her. He hoped he wasn't asking Mady too much things, he didn't want to seem like a chatterbox. Logan bit his lip lightly.

Mady smiled at him and shrugged, "I didn't figure you had. It's pretty far away from New York, and it's not really a big city." She smiled at him and nodded, imagining all the movie's she'd seen that were set in New York City. She licked her lips and looked up at him, "But is it anything like they portray it in movies or is it totally different?" she asked. She'd always wanted to go to New York to help at shelters there. She looked down to the ground and shook her head, "It's not nearly as busy as New York, or I can't imagine it would be. I mean, there's traffic at rush hour, but other than that, it's kind of a normal pace, you know?"
