Alexia shook her head. "Like I said, I'm not a very memorable person. She probably doesn't even remember who I am." She wouldn't be able to handle it if Aya turned her away. Running her fingers through her hair, she let out a heavy sigh. "And even if she did, I'm not sure if she wants to see me. It's been awhile." The last time she had really hung out with Aya was shortly after her parents had split up. Alexia had been great at disguising her pain back then, but she was finding it more difficult to hide her emotions these days.
After picking up her guitar, she walked out the door and followed him into the hallway. She was about to turn and head home when his voice stopped her dead in her tracks. He wants to have coffee....with me? An amused expression began to spread across her face. "Sure, why the hell not? I don't have anything better to do today. Besides, who would pass up the chance to eat at a place with the word 'mud' in the title?"

With such a snarky attitude and apathetic view on life; I'm pretty sure you left a good imprint on Aya. He shook his head anyway; Seph had the vaguest feeling that Alexia wasn't what she appeared to be. Her bitchiness was probably a facade for some deep-seated pain inside her that she couldn't express well. He shrugged, he didn't know her and though it was hard he wouldn't judge her because he wouldn't have liked it if he was judged on the spot. "Try it anyway; I'm not your messenger and she'll be happy to know you got out of the hurricane alright."
He had to roll his eyes at her witty rebuttal and he walked towards the entrance without bothering to wait for her. If she would follow, then she'd be behind him... If not, then whatever. "You know what, I swear I'll pay for whatever you order there. Just please, for the remainder of our time together, stop with the crassness. It's giving me a migraine." Seph turned to face her and offered her a smile, his eyes twinkling in amusement. "I will buy you anything you want in that coffee shop if you start acting like the person Aya met. I'm pretty sure she wouldn't have taken your bullshit and if she didn't then neither will I. Capece?"

Unable to argue with his logic, Alexia let out a huge sigh and nodded her head. "Alright," she said. "If I see her, I'll talk to her." As much as she hated to admit it, he'd made a few good points. He wasn't her messenger. If one of her siblings had gone to her and asked her to talk to somebody for them, she would have probably told them the same exact thing. Nope, talking to her Aya was something that she had to do for herself, not something to pass on to someone else. Not only that, but given the type of caring person Aya was, she would want to know whether or not she had survived the hurricane. If she remembers me.....
Completely taken aback by his words, she stood motionless in front of him. Did he just talk to me like that? Nobody's ever dared to talk to me like that..... It was easy for her to get away with talking like that at home. With Jack at college and Hayden off doing God-knows-what, the weaker siblings were left at home, allowing her to have the last word in most arguments. She had them pretty much in the palm of her hand and she loved it. Yet this boy, a complete stranger that she had never seen before in her life, had actually dared to put her in her place. It was so condescending, so pushy, so....amusing. A small grin began to form across her mouth. "No problem," she said, winking at him. "I like you."

Seph shrugged as he started walking down the almost empty hall, pretty sure that Alexia was still following. "See? That wasn't so hard. Besides, I think it would help her a lot... And she'd appreciate that you didn't forget her." He wasn't really sure why he was rambling on and on; he wasn't even sure why he had asked her to go with him to the coffeeshop but he had already and it was too late to recant his statement. Truth be told, he didn't really want to either.
He smiled a bit when he realized that he had finally silenced the loud-mouthed Alexia. It was probably a first and a very rare occurrence that he mentally patted himself on the back for it as he ran a hand through his hair. Seph rolled his eyes emphatically as he continued to exit the school and make his way to the road that led to the Entertainment District. "Uhuh. Just as long as you keep the bargain..." He was happy that she was playing along; at least he'd have someone to talk to at the coffee shop; even if it was someone who wanted to chew him up and spit him out.

Alexia nodded her head and followed him down the street. "I hope you're right," she said, trying to keep her tone as neutral as possible. Because I swear to God, if she's pissed at me..... She sighed and shoved her hands in her pockets. If this was going to work; she needed to summon every ounce of positive energy that she had. The boy seemed like a pretty cool guy, so being nice wasn't a total hardship, but it was still a little difficult for her to not revert back to her normal sarcastic self.
"Are you kidding me?" she asked with a small chuckle. "You just offered to buy me food. Of course, I'll be nice to just about anybody for free food." A wicked grin spread across her face as she thought of the terms of the deal. I wonder what would happen if I ordered everything in the place.... "You seem like a halfway sane person, so it's not too hard. Plus, I'm an expert at winning bets." She continued following him, glancing at all of the various buildings that she passed. Riverside wasn't looking like such a bad town after all.

Seph quirked a brow at her as they continued to walk side by side. He could see the familiar sign of the coffee shop and was a bit relieved that they were close. He wanted hot chocolate. "So you mean you'd be nice to anyone who bought you food? Even a serial killer who wanted to add you to his collection or a rapist who would drag you away afterwards?" His mouth quirked into a rare grin, full of amusement. "Well, this isn't a bet is it? It's more of a proposition; besides it can't be a bet if it's a win-win situation. I get a decent conversation out of you and you get free food; see? No one loses." He opened the door to the cafe and gestured for her to step inside first.

Alexia's wicked grin developed into full blown laughter at his comment. Most people would have been completely caught off guard and offended at such a reference, but not Alexia. It fit in perfectly with her sarcastic and pessimistic sense of humor. "You're not a some kind of homicidal maniac, are you?" she asked jokingly. "Because that could put a real damper on this good mood that I'm supposed to be in right now." She stepped into the cafe and glanced around, trying to figure out what to order. "You actually think that having a decent conversation with me is as good as getting free food?"

He raised a brow and looked at her as if she was the crazy one. "No Alexia, I'm not crazy." He was pretty sure his serious tone would have made his little sister laugh at how seemingly offended he was at being labeled a homicidal maniac but that was just how he was; he didn't know how to take a joke. Seph followed her in and closed the door behind him, already knowing what to order. "Only if the conversation isn't with a pessimist." He waggled his eyebrows as he moved to the counter and ordered a hot chocolate in their biggest size and a piece of honey bread. "Do you know what you want to order?"

Alexia sighed a little at his serious expression, pretending not to be offended that he didn't laugh at her joke. She had thought that she'd made a new friend of sorts, someone who was on the same wavelength as her, but apparently she had been wrong. Instead, she had unintentionally hurt his feelings. She wanted to yell at him and tell him to lighten up, but that wouldn't bode well for the possibility of her receiving free food. "Okay then," she said, simply nodding her head in agreement. She plastered on a huge smile and ordered a large black coffee and a brownie. "Shall we now begin our non-pessimistic conversation?"

Seph looked at her oddly when she smiled; he couldn't very well just say how pretty she looked when she did that. It would have been downright embarrassing! Instead he cracked a tiny smile. "Please, I don't think I could ever get used to you smiling. It's so alien to someone who first met you as a smartass." He shook his head and chuckled as he ordered her food and paid for everything. He found a booth near the counter and slid into one side of it. "So how did you and Aya meet?"

Alexia smirked and slid into the booth across from him. "Well, you're the one who asked for the alien," she said, her smile still fixed on her face. "I can go back to being a smartass if you want. Then again, you only have to deal with me for however long it takes you to drink a cup of hot chocolate, so you don't have to really get that used to me." She placed her head in her hands and thought back to the time that she first met Aya two years ago. "We met at a club opening," she recalled, chuckling fondly at the memory. "It was this place in Little Tokyo near Mabtown called Club Harlem Air. She was new in town. I think I was like her first friend or something."

Their food arrived and he thanked the waitress gruffly as he sipped at his hot chocolate. Seph sighed as he enjoyed the chocolate flavors the melded in his mouth. "Didn't think she was the type of person to go clubbing before...", he grinned as he tore a piece of the honey bread and popped it into his mouth. "Ser probably dragged her along, huh?" Joseph raised a brow and looked at her. "Then again, you don't seem like the type to go clubbing either; how'd you get there?" He briefly remembered Kris talking about Little Tokyo and he smiled a bit. "They used to have a cafe there right? The Wishing Star... They want to make a new one you know; probably because Georgiana's flooding the house with pastries and they have no idea where to put them."

"Yup," Alexia said, lifting the hot cup of coffee to her lips. She took a couple of quick sips and exhaled deeply, delighting in the strong, unsweetened taste of the drink. "That's her sister, right?" She munched on her brownie, trying to remember the names of Aya's siblings that were mentioned earlier. "I went with my siblings," she continued, "I wasn't really a club person either, but I was really into Japanese stuff at the time, so I went mainly for that." She nodded her head when he mentioned The Wishing Star. "I remember that place. Aya's family ran it and she used to work there. I never really got a chance to go and check it out..."

"Mmm, yeah her older sister." He tore another piece of the large fluffy piece of bread and bit into it, making a mental note to beg Georgie to make him some when he got home. "Yeah, I can kinda tell that clubs aren't really your scene." Seph grinned at her. "I kinda see you more as a person who goes to gigs and open mic nights..." He sighed softly as he took a sip of the chocolate-y drink. "I hope they make the cafe again; Georgie gets antsy at home with nothing to do and Jackie, my little sister, is worried she's getting fat from all the free pastries. I personally, am glad to be Georgie's guinea pig for her new creations." He ran his free hand through his hair as his gaze wandered out the window.

"What are you, psychic or something?" Alexia asked, forcing a smile to hide her slight discomfort. It usually bothered her whenever people tried to read her or give some sort of assessment to her personality. She was used to them being completely off-base about her, but the fact that he was so dead on in his assessment made her a bit nervous. "Would it be a bad thing if I was like that?" She wasn't sure why it mattered to her so much; it really shouldn't have. Attempting to change the subject, she took another sip of coffee. "Is there a possibility that I could join the ranks of the guinea pigs? I'd love to have a never-ending supply of sweets." Laughing, she sunk her teeth into her brownie yet again.
