Joseph turned and offered her a wicked smile before shaking his head. "Nope, just a very intuitive person." He thought about her question over a sip of hot chocolate before shaking his head. "Naah, I mean I'm not saying that people who like clubbing over gigs are bad people either but it all depends on what you like to do with your time. Personally I like the jazz clubs; I can hide in the corner with a coke and listen to the music without anyone disturbing me. It's great." And it reminded him so much of his father. He chuckled. "Well our entire family is a set of guinea pigs for Georgiana. And then there's Daylin, Seraph's boyfriend's daughter."

Alexia sat back in the booth and smiled, listening carefully as he talked about music. Apart from the jazz club part, she could sort of relate. Sure, she was a rock and roll girl that preferred to sit in the front row of a concert screaming her head off, but sometimes she just wanted to remain inconspicuous and just focus on the music. "That sounds nice," she said, finishing off her brownie. "I actually rarely play in public that much. I've just been goofing off for almost ten years. I mean, I can play a lot of songs very well. I just don't have that wow factor." Her expression warmed at the mention of Daylin. "Awww I think I know her. My little brother and her used to play together. She has red hair, right?"

Seph quirked a brow, more in curiosity than any negative emotion. "Why? People don't need a 'spark' to play. Besides, when I do play in front of a crowd, it's for myself and not them. I could be sitting in a closet for all I'd know with no one watching me but I'd still give the same performance. The music I play is for me, not for them." It was a selfish philosophy on music but it was how he learned not to be scared of what other people thought. It was impossible to please everyone but if he focused on pleasing himself with his music, he knew he could give his all. He grinned. "Yeah her. Apparently, Ser promised her that we-- as in all the boys-- would make her a fort. I dunno when she's coming over though."

Alexia sighed and took another sip of her coffee. "I don't really have stage presence," she said, thinking of her estranged older brother, the aspiring rock star. "I get nervous on stage. Plus, I don't really have the whole look down. There's nothing about me that stands out." She used to believe the way that he did, that it was just about the music and nothing else, but past unfortunate experiences taught her that other things did matter. Trying not to look sad in front of an almost complete stranger, she forced a smile. "You build forts for little kids? How sweet....."

Seph shrugged as he finished his hot chocolate in one long swig. He smirked at her. "When has it ever been about the look? I'm a classical musician but do I look like one? Not really." He shook his head, wondering where the confidence of this girl went. It seemed like she had used her bitterness and anger as a mask for the fact that she was insecure and afraid... Just like the rest of the world. "It doesn't matter if nothing about you stands out Alexia... I know that sounds mean but what I mean to say is that your music should be the only thing that stands out. That's how you're going to make a name for yourself. It sounds overrated but it will always be about the music." He shrugged again as he tore a piece of bread for himself. "Kinda why The Beatles never go out of style. They knew what they were doing." He chuckled. "Yeah kinda... Only when forced though. Besides, Daylin's a sweetheart. We're all eating out of the palm of her hand honestly."

Alexia sipped her coffee and took a long, good look at him. "Well, you don't have a powdered wig like all of those other classical musicians that I studied in school," she said with a small chuckle. "But you have that serious look about you..." Forcing her gaze off of him, she shook her head. It had always been about looks. Whenever her brother walked into a room or on stage with his blue hair and leather pants, everyone noticed him. Whenever she walked on stage with her plain jeans and leather jacket, hardly anybody noticed her. She just didn't have the look, the attention-grabbing look of a rock star. "You're not being mean, you're just speaking the truth. Nothing wrong with that." She finished off her coffee and placed the empty cup down on the table. "I understand what you mean about Daylin," she added. "My two year old sister has all twelve of us wrapped around her little finger and she knows it."

Joseph made a face at that; he wouldn't have worn a powdered wig even if he was paid an idiotic amount of money. He quirked a brow at her and pointedly stared at her in curiosity. "So just because you don't have that serious look about you, it means you aren't serious about your music?" He shook his head at her. "Alexia, the only person who seems to have a problem with you is you. That's your issue. When you can get over that, you'll do fine with your music. If you say you're good enough, then you are." He smiled at the thought. "Yup; it's always the little ones who have that manipulative innocence in them. It's creepy sometimes but it works."

Alexia pressed her lips tightly together to suppress her laughter. The look on his face was almost as hilarious as the idea of him wearing a powdered wig. Her restrained laughter died down at his statement about her music. Of course, she was serious about her music. She'd always had been, even if she considered her talents to be slightly mediocre at times. Still, he had a point, as much as she hated to admit it. "You make sense," she said, making a face. "I hate that." Realizing that they were both finished eating, she stood up. "Well, I got free food and you got a halfway decent conversation. I guess I better go disappear now, seeing as we both got what we wanted."

Seph shrugged; he had been known as a brutally frank person all his life and though he never meant to offend people, he usually did. He hated it when people couldn't handle the truth and that was just how it was. He looked at their empty plates and mugs and smiled a little, sighing softly. "Yes I guess." He stood as she did and slung his bag over his shoulder before giving her a tiny smile. "Nice meeting you Alexia; see you in the music room I guess." He picked up his case and made his way out the cafe, glad to have made a sort-of-friend.

Alexia nodded and threw her bookbag over her shoulder. "Yeah, it was nice meeting you too! Ummmm....." she called after him. She searched her brain trying to remember what his name was, only to discover that he'd never told her. Oh well, what do I care? It's not like I'll ever see him again..... Breathing a huge sigh, she waited until he was completely out of sight and headed out the cafe in the direction of her home on Seaview Circle. As she walked, she pulled a cigarette out of her pocket, lit it, and took a few long puffs. Surprisingly, she hadn't felt the need for one for the past hour or so.
