Olivia looked around the empty hurdles track as she limbered up, relishing the peace and quiet she couldn't find at home. What with the arrival of her cousins from MABTown, along with what seemed to be the rest of the town on top of her failing to find anywhere at her own house without a sibling in it, she'd fled to the school track as a last resort.
Pulling one knee up to her chest, she frowned. "Why do they have to come here anyway? Why couldn't they just move back to Australia and live with Grandpa? Why do they have to live down the street? Stupid Mikaela with her giant wardrobe and perfect hair and boyfriend." Letting her leg down, she picked up the other one and sighed. "Great. Now I'm complaining to myself. No wonder everyone keeps telling me to shut up."
Bending down, she positioned herself at the starting line, then heard an imaginary starting gun in her head and tore around the track, leaping the hurdles one by one.

Monte found himself gravitating toward the track at the high school, there were plenty of places in town where he could go and run, but he felt he'd exhausted them all in the days since his brother left for basic training and because his last run at the park had turned into a failed flirting session with a girl that had the body of a freaking goddess and none of the fire he was looking for he decided he'd just avoid the park altogether, just in case she turned up and thought maybe they had hit it off. If he were anyone else, he might have felt bad for the girl, but when you don't have it in his book, you don't have it and that's that. He jumped the fence to the track, though there was no logical reason for him to do this except that he wanted to and found himself standing on the sidelines of the empty track, only he wasn't alone.
She took off like a speeding bullet and his jaw literally dropped when he watched her jump that first hurtle. Lucky for him he had a great recovering system and found himself making his way to one of the last hurtles on the track that she would have to jump over. His attention to detail was outstanding, this girl was in great shape and her shorts were just short enough for him to think he might get a nice view. He positioned himself beneath the hurtle and looked up. There was a great chance that she would see him and wouldn't jump the last hurtle, but at least it would break the ice, and yet there was still that small chance that she would jump the hurtle and either not notice him getting a peep show, or simply notice and not care, unlike...*clears throat.*

Olivia kept her eyes firmly on the single hurdle in front of her each time she leaped. This was the only time her brain shut off, along with all her other senses. Complete focus was the only way she wasn't going to clip the top and go tumbling onto the ground, and the pain that followed was always unpleasant.
She couldn't help but blink, and when she did so all the thoughts that had been banished came flooding back in. Try as she might, she couldn't reign them in again and as she came to the last hurdle, she gasped in surprise. Crap. I'm going too fast, I'm just gonna have to jump him. Can I jump him? All of a sudden, the hurdle was there, there was no time to stop. Attempting to clear it, she hooked her foot on the top and came down on top of the boy underneath with a crunch. "Oof."

Oh damn, didn't see this coming. The thought ran through his head as he saw her foot clip the top of the hurtle. He did his best to cushion her fall and as she landed on top of him, his back slammed against the pavement, rubbing him raw in certain places, but he came up grinning. "Shouldn't have slowed, you were doing wonderfully." He mumbled. He sat up, bringing her up with him. "Are you alright?"

As she landed, she felt him catch her and her first thought was Man he smells good. Pushing herself off him, Olivia grumbled under her breath her face bright red and burning, doing a mental check of all her limbs. It would be just her luck to get a knee or ankle injury.
Sitting up on her knees, she frowned at the smiling boy. "I'm fine. What the hell are you doing sitting underneath a hurdle? You're supposed to jump over them." Scrambling to her feet, she put her hands on her hips and pouted slightly. "For all you know, that was my best time and you ruined it." She was lying, it wasn't anywhere close to how fast she could run it through but he didn't have to know that.

Monte's grin widened and he burst into laugher at her question. See fire... He shook his head. "I wanted to experience it from a different perspective." He got to his feet and brushed the debris from his palms and what he could from his back. "You could have made that last jump and besides even if it were your best time, what a shame it would be for no one to witness it. I for one would not be out here jumping hurdles, trying to go for my record with no one to witness or record it." He rolled his eyes. "I don't exactly get the whole, self rewarding crap. I could go out and say I caught the biggest fish known to man, but who the hell is going to believe me unless I have proof." He quirked an eyebrow. "Now tell me you aren't mad and let's kiss and make up." He was fishing for a little flirtation, the last one had been a complete flop it wasn't even funny or memorable enough to even count. I can't have lost all my charm.

Olivia's eyes narrowed as he spoke, and she crossed her arms stubbornly. "One, I don't even know you, so no I won't be kissing you. Two, as long as I know I can do it, I know that I'll be able to do it again when someone important is watching."
She fought to keep the frown on her face however, this guy was actually kind of cute. Sure he just pulled a stupid stunt, but if he'd just stood to the side she'd never have even noticed he'd been there. "So do you come hang out at deserted schools often?" She tried to gauge his age, pegging him at around 18 and wondered what on earth he'd be doing here, especially with school out til September.

Monte sucked some air in through his teeth and let it out in a sigh, putting on a fake sad face. "Sad." He breathed through his teeth as he cast his eyes downward slowly, he got a good look at her and was sure she'd notice he wasn't being shy in the least. "You're missing out on a great thing..." He gloated, not bothering to comment on the snide comment she made about him not being important, he wasn't dumb, it might not have been distinguishable to some, but he knew it was deliberate.
"I actually prefer it, to tell you the truth, not much of a fan of schools other wise ya know." He glanced at the school building not to far off and shrugged. "I was planning on using the track for my workout, but...." He lifted his hand, palm up and lowered it from her head to her upper thigh. "You were just so beautiful flying over those hurdles, I forgot I'd come here to work out. I've found the park has a few distractions I'd like to avoid and I thought the track would honestly be free."

Olivia's frown completely disappeared as he blantantly checked her out. Even though he was clearly too old for her, at least from her mother's point of view, it was nice to feel like someone like him would be interested in her albeit in just a physical way.
She returned the look, noting the muscles in his arm as he extended it towards the school. Damn, he's fine. Maybe I should have stayed down on the ground a little longer. "Oh yeah? What...distractions are you talking about? Too many pretty girls to look at? Or maybe not enough?" She grinned and shrugged her shoulders. "If you were so desperate for the track to be free you could have just asked. You didn't have to ruin my run."

Monte laughed and shook his head. "You and I both know you wouldn't have noticed me had I not interrupted your run, besides you made all the other hurdles, so you know you can do it, so next time you'll be able to do it too, you said so yourself. This last hurdle means nothing." He raised an eyebrow. "No actually there is just one girl who I thought would be stimulating and she just well..." He didn't want to go into details about another girl in front of this obviously stimulating beauty. "I don't mind running with a partner, grant it I can't jump hurdles without busting up my face but I'm sure I could run along beside you."

Olivia watched him, her eyes narrowing once more as he mentioned another girl. Not that she was jealous exactly, but her buzz at being noticed was definitely on the way down. Deciding to ignore it for the minute, she looked back out at the track.
Tracing her lip with her tongue, she thought for a minute before facing him again smiling. "Ok, deal. But I don't usually run with a partner, so prepare to be beaten by a girl." She laughed easily and placed her hands on her hips. "I ususally know the names of my competitors. I'm Olivia. Usually people call me Livie."

Monte took her turning around as the perfect opportunity to look her over again. He tried to peg her age, but he just kept coming up with an age range instead of an exact age. "I doubt you'll beat me, but I'll prep myself regardless." He raised one side of his mouth into a grin. "I'm Monte." He could have gone the same route and given her his full name, but he despised it so much and always hated when Aya called him by his given first name. Montgomery. "Do you compete often? I bet you beat all the other eight graders huh?" He didn't honestly think she was that young, but it was just provocative enough that she might reveal her true age without him actually asking.

Olivia's eyes narrowed again. What is with this guy? Hasn't anyone ever taught him manners? "I'm a 10th grader actually. And seniors here have trouble catching me."
She stalked over to the hurdle she'd knocked, and stood it back up before jogging lightly back to her starting point. Turning back to him, she all but sneered at him before she remembered her own manners. "Come on then hot shot, show me what you got." she knelt down at the starting point, the hair from slher ponytail covering her face. Eat my dust jerk.

Monte wanted to laugh at the look of annoyance on her face, but he contained himself. He did the age calculating in his head and guessed she must be fifteen or sixteen years old, he'd prefer her to be sixteen because then they'd only be a year to two years apart in age once his birthday came around, but three years difference might not be too bad. He probably wouldn't have approved of Cadence dating a guy who was three years older than her, but this wasn't Cadence it was him and he was getting ahead of himself. He positioned himself next to her and grinned. "You said I was hot. one.two.three.GO!" It was a cheap shot, probably not enough to given himself a decent lead, but it was worth it. He gunned it, not necessarily so that he'd win, but just so he might be able to keep up.

Olivia stared at him in disbelief as he took off, then remembered they were supposed to be racing and followed in quick pursuit. She chastised herself as she ran, furious that she'd let him get to her. Leaping over the hurdles, she stared daggers at his back as she sped up to run along side him.
It took all her breath to keep up that pace and continue jumping, so she bit back the retort she longed to throw at him and contented herself with childishly poking out her tongue. Putting out one last burst of speed, she edged ahead of him and jumped the last hurdle before jogging herself to a stop. Turning to face him, she scowled panting. "I did not call you hot."
