Amoni slowly made her way through the crowded cafeteria. It seemed like every student in the school was in the cafeteria for lunch. She missed her old school more than ever right now. Her parents had both made the decision to move without asking her or her brothers and sisters, but of course she wasn’t angry about it. Her mother thought that moving would be best for the family; they could have a new start. How can anyone be against what’s best for their family? But there were downsides to the move. Amoni’s father had to stay in France for a few months for work while the rest of the family had to come to riverside and get settled in.
Amoni stood at the back of the lunch line, phone in hand texting. The line was moving slowly and Amoni was growing a bit impatient. She crossed her arms and tapped her feet impatiently as the line moved one inch every two minutes. seriously, what are they doing up there!? she thought angrily.

With her book in one hand and a lunch tray in the other, Elisabeth continued taking steps inch by inch. Though it didn't really bother her too much, for she was busy with her nose in the book as usual. Normally she would be chatting it up with her new boyfriend, but since he had a club meeting to get to, she would be sitting alone today. She didn't really mind though, she was used to being alone anyway.
Although, after a turn of a page, Elisabeth kept hearing an annoying tap tap tap going on behind her. She turned her head just for a quick glance, and saw that it was the girl behind her tapping her foot on the ground. And by the look of it, she was growing more and more impatient. Elisabeth gave a light smile, closing her book gently as the line moved up a couple more inches. She turned back to the girl with a sweet grin. "I see you're new here." she giggled, hoping that would ease up the girl's frustration she held in her eyes. "Or its just your first time buying lunch here, cause the line is always this long...and slow." she added considerately, holding her friendly smile on her face.

Amoni was so wrapped up in her thoughts she almost didn’t notice the girl talking at first “Huh? Oh. Yeah, I’m new.” She said, stopping her impatient foot taping. She figured it had gotten the girls attention and probably pissed of a few people behind her, so it was best that she stopped. “Really? That sucks.” She said plainly. “I guess I’m gunna have to start bringing my own lunch.” She added. Amoni took a look at the girl, she didn’t look older than her but you never know in high school. “I’m Amoni.” She stuck her hand out to shake the girl’s.

Elisabeth giggled at the girl's second thoughts about bringing a lunch. "Yeah, that's what I mostly do. The reason why I'm buying today is just because I accidently slept in, and didn't really have time to pack my lunch this morning. Which is quite a rare thing for me to do, really." she explained, quickly stopping herself before she continued rambling on to this girl she never really knew at all. "I'm Elisabeth." that is, until they introduced themselves, as she tucked her book under one arm to shake the other girl's hand politely. "So, what grade you in, Amoni?" she asked out of curiosity, moving up a few more inches as the line moved again.

Amoni listened quietly while the girl spoke. It was weird to her how complaining about the slow line was actually making her forget about how much it angered her. “I know what you mean. If I had known the line would be like this,” she pointed at the students in front of them “I would have already had my lunch packed and ready to go.” She giggled. Amoni noticed the book Elisabeth tucked under her arm but before she got to ask her about it she was asked a question herself. “I’m a junior. How about you?” she asked, taking a few steps forward as the line moved. She was grateful that Elisabeth started talking to her because she probably would have given up on standing in the line completely.

"I know right?" Elisabeth laughed with her, quite glad and in fact proud of herself for actually being the first to strike up a conversation with meeting someone new. She had always been the shy and quiet type, much like her mother, but ever since she's been making more and more friends, not to mention getting a new boyfriend at last, she's been feeling more confident and secure about herself lately. "You're a junior? So am I!" she practically squealed, even more ecstatic that her possible new friend is the same grade as her. "What classes are you taking? Maybe we have a class together."

When Elisabeth said she was a junior Amoni gaped at her for a second before she replied “Seriously? Ohmigosh, this is perfect!” she squealed. She found herself thinking about how she and Elisabeth could be great friends and hangout and do each others hair, of course she was getting ahead of herself but it just felt good to met someone who was in the same grade as her and could possibly become a good friend. Amoni had to think for a second; since she put her schedule in her locker on the way to lunch she wasn’t exactly sure what classes she had. “Er... I think English III honors, U.S. history honors, I’m pretty sure I have chemistry and geometry, and for my electives I’m taking photography and A.P. French.” She said with a nod. She was sure about the last two classes because those were pretty much the only classes she had gotten to choose. The rest of her classes were based on her old test scores.

Elisabeth giggled, squinting her eyes in excitement before opening them up again listening to the classes Amoni had. Elisabeth's eyes widened once more, before stepping forward as the line moved again, getting them closer to the food. "Well that's two classes we probably have together." she giggled, moving forward again. "I also have Geometry and Photography. I'm not in the Honors classes though. I have AP classes instead." she shrugged, still thrilled about possibly having two classes together though.
