Diana started running through the forest. She was feeling especially light today and she had just gotten away from her sisters long enough to have some fun. She reached up for a branch and climbed the tree. She always loved being up high. She stopped to take a breath for a while, swinging her legs.
Diana ran her fingers through her purple hair. It was loose today, a little spiky too. Her sisters had thought it was cute, and her brothers had gotten a good laugh out of it. She hadn't been out to see everything yet, so she hadn't showed it off any. She loved whenever she got stares from it, because no one would think it was natural, even though it was.
Diana sighed. She hadn't been that talkative today for some reason. She fell back on the branch, hanging from her knees and letting her arms hang down as the breeze washed over her. She smiled lightly.

Emile walked through the forest slowly, looking around him as he took in ever detail he could see. He loved being outside, and anything green made him feel happy inside. It probably had something to do with it being the same colour as his hair, held back in a ponytail to keep it from blocking his view.
The forest seemed like home for some reason, or at least a way to get away from what he would call a hectic house. He didn't like anything that was nature, it didn't seem fresh and clean like the leaves and trees.
Just as Emile was looking up at one of the trees he had to stop in his tracks. A girl was hanging from one of the branches, a strange thing for him to see surely. He didn't shout out though, he couldn't really. Instead he just got closer, a confused look on his face.

Diana opened her eyes and jumped out of the tree, landing easily on her feet. She smiled, but stepped back in surprise as she saw Emile. "Oh I'm sorry, I didn't see you there." She blushed lightly and waved a litt.e "Uhm...I'm Diana. Diana Tey. You can call me D though. Everyone else does." She brightened up a little bit and stuck her hand out for the boy to shake.

Emile smiled slightly, shaking the girls hand. Atleast she was nice, he could say that. Biting his lip slightly, Emile tried to think of how to tell her his own name. He'd forgotten to bring anything to write on what he was saying this time, meaning he had to rely on his really bad attempts at signing it in a way people understood. Thinking about it slowly, Emile speeled out his own name in sign language E.M.I.L.E, taking a slight pause between each letter. He didn't know how to say anything else to the girl though. Rubbing the back of his head slightly he suddenly felt nervous about how anyone would react to him.

Diana noticed his uncomfortable movements. She watched his hands and suddenly realized what was wrong. "Emile....Oh! Uhm..." She signed are you deaf or mute? Diana had worked with deaf people at the hospital when her brother had to go there for help on his own ear. She smiled lightly, trying to make him feel a little less uncomfortable. She was a really kind girl and always tried to be on the same level with a person.

Emile watched carefully, taking in the sign language easily but signing anything back was still tricky. Thinking about it first, he started to sign. He was hoping so badly that it was right. I'm Mute, he stopped the signing, watching to see what the reaction was. That way he'd know if he'd been right. Back home no one really understood much when he signed, but he didn't need to sign much with Mari around.

Diana nodded. "Ok." She giggled lightly. "You're not very good at signing kid. But I guess with being mute, you don't always have to use it? You don't have to use it to much around me though, I get the picture most of the time." Diana shrugged. "So...uhm hi..Emile" She smiled lightly and waved.

Emile waved back slightly, using his other hand to rub the back of his head nervously. He never knew what to do to talk to people he met, especially when he couldn't write what he wanted to say down. That meant he had to try and sign or show what he meant, this could either go terribly wrong or great. Looking around slightly, he took in what was around him before actually getting a look at Diana. Biting his lip slightly he started to frown in thought before relaxing. He loved being outside, and he was sure it showed in his expression now.
sister, talks for two... Emile was slow with his signing, almost slipping up. He really needed to find some easier way to be communicating.

Diana tried following his signing. "Ah...uhm" She patted her jacket pockets and pulled out a pen. "Well I have a pen, but no paper...but.." Diana hopped back up into the tree, climbing rather fast. She grabbed a really big leaf, then peeled off a piece of bark. She dropped back down. "It' not that good, but since I have nothing else.." She shrugged and rubbed the back of her neck.

Emile looked shocked to begin with, taking the leaf and piece of bark carefully before taking the pen in his hand. He stared at them for a while before signing one of the words he actually knew, seeing as there was no point writing it down just yet.
Thankyou. Emile was smiling as he signed it, ready to be able to communicate properly now.

D shrugged and put her hands in her pockets. "Welcome." She smiled brightly, then leaned against the tree trunk. "Tell me if you run out of room, I can always hop back up for another one." She ran a hand through her purple hair and turned her head to the side. "So what brings you here Emile?" She talked to him like a normal person, not really caring if he was mute or not.

Emile thought for a moment, writing whatever came to his head on the leaf.
It's calming, being with all the nature that is. What about you?
He smiled, showing Diana the writing. He was actually finding this fun, which was suprising to him almost as Mari seemed to talk for both of them all other times.

Diana nodded as she read. "yeah. I just come out here sometimes to swing around; like you caught me doing." She laughed. "I've gotten called a monkey before because I like to jump around in the trees or swing upside down in them. You just come out here to sit around?" She smiled lightly at him.

Emile smiled, shrugging slightly before looking up into the trees and writing something down.
I do sometimes, I don't tend to climb about that much.
Rubbing the back of his head slightly, Emile showed the writing to Diana again. It was usually MAri who ran around and was energetic, but she saved hers for the shops.

Diana nodded and smiled lightly. "Hey you can sit down, I don't bit. Hard." She winked and laughed. She patted a seat next to her and leaned onto the tree trunk, lacing her fingers behind her head.
