To the Beach!

Meghan walked to the beach, wearing slippers. It was a beautiful day outside. No wonder Quinn had chosen to go to the park. The weather was warm, and the sun was shining brightly in the blue sky. It was a great day to go outside. Her siblings figured they should all go to different places, then switch. She figured Lisette's first stop was the mall. A slight breeze blew back her light brown hair, and she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. The beach was crowded with people, and she saw people swimming, having a picnic, and laughing. Perfect! she thought eagerly. I could befriend one of them. she noticed a couple of people that looked about her age, but they looked busy. She didn't want to interrupt their conversations. Meghan, looking back at the other people who looked about her age, tripped on a rock that was right in her path. Falling on her face, and getting some sand in her mouth, Meghan whined. "Ow."

BaoChen was enjoying the view of people on the beach, over-ear headphones blasting music through his ears. He kept his hands in his shorts pockets, until he noticed a girl fall. "Oh..." He muttered, pulling his headphones off and down onto his neck, "Are you okay?" He asked her.

Looking up as she heard somebody's voice, Meghan slowly stood up. "Yeah, I'm fine." she told him. "Thanks for asking." she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and smiled. "I'm Meghan, by the way. You can call me Meg, if you want." Putting her hands in her pockets, Meghan looked at the boy. "What's your name?" she asked, looking down at her foot. Since she was in slippers, there was a small cut from the rock that she tripped on. It didn't hurt too much, though it still slightly stung. Meghan bit her lip hard, to keep her from whining again.

"No problem," BaoChen muttered, using his free hand to turn off his iPod. "I'm BaoChen. Everyone I know calls me Bao, though." He told her. Looking her over, he noticed a bit of blood, "Are you sure you're okay?"

Meghan smiled, trying to ignore the cut on her foot, which was stinging. "Nice to meet you, Bao." she told him. Meghan nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine." she was slightly whimpering. "It's just a cut, that's all." Meghan smiled slightly, showing that her foot wasn't hurting. Her brown gaze went back to her feet, and she whined to herself softly as she saw that it was a deep cut, but not too deep. She noticed that the sand had gotten into the cut, which was stinging. Meghan reached down to grab her slippers.

BaoChen looked at the cut again, "Do you want to clean it up?" He asked her, pointing towards the bathroom. "I can help you, if you want." He offered.

Meghan nodded, "I think some sand got into it." she told him. She smiled slightly. "It's fine, I'll clean it up by myself." She glanced back at the bathroom, then back at BaoChen. "How old are you?" she asked. He looked about her age.

"Seventeen," BaoChen told her, a small smile playing on his lips, "What about you?" He asked, trying to stop himself from looking at the cut.

"Sixteen." Meghan told him with a small smile, trying to forget about the cut on her foot. She glanced down at her foot for a few minutes, then her brown gaze went back to BaoChen. "I'm going to clean it, now." she sighed. "It's starting to really sting." Meghan walked towards the bathroom, half-limping because of the pain in her foot. She knew that it was fine, and just a cut, but it still hurt. She finally reached the bathroom, cleaning the cut, by running it under water. She limped back out again, and smiled at BaoChen. "It's clean now." she told him with a smile, looking down at the cut that had stopped bleeding.

BaoChen watched as she limped to the bathroom, waiting until she returned to him, the cut looking much cleaner. He smiled, then teasingly asked, "So are you always so clumsy?"

Meghan laughed lightly, "I wasn't really looking where I was going." she smiled slightly, "I guess I am clumsy." she glanced down at her foot, then her brown gaze went back to BaoChen. She wasn't too embarrassed that she had tripped on a rock. She was clumsy, anyways, and tripped on a lot of things. Meghan smiled slightly, "Are you new here?" she asked curiously.

"Uh... kind of?" BaoChen replied, making a face. "I moved here with my family within the last year, I guess. I don't even remember anymore." He explained, letting out a small chuckle.

Meghan nodded, ah, so he wasn't new. She smiled gently with a small laugh. "Uh, well, if you know your way around Riverside," she started, biting her lower lip gently, "Would you mind showing me around?" her siblings and her had been looking around town, but she did need somebody to show her around. "Um, if you don't mind, of course." she tucked a strand of her light brown hair behind her ear and a small smile appeared on her face. She hoped she wasn't being pushy, she didn't meant to be pushy, but she really wanted to get to go around town. She looked down at her feet, biting her lower lip.
