Annie sighed, walking through the park. She smiled at the little kids running around as she moved her red hair behind her ear. Nothing exciting was going on at her house and everyone seemed to be busy, so she was bored. her sister, Qi, claimed Annie was always bored because she didn't make friends. She was just shy, she couldn't help that. it wasn't a crime to be shy and quiet, so she stayed that way/
She sat down by a tree, pulling out her favorite book that she'd read almost 6 times now, Time for Andrew. She played with a little leaf on the ground. She could talk to little kids, since it was them doing most of the talking with all of their energy. But when it came to kids her age and older, it was difficult. She was always afraid she'd slip up, or say something wrong. She had too many freckles, her hair was too tangled, her clothes were a mess; she felt like anything could be wrong and it would get pointed out. She sighed, flipping through to the part where Drew didn't feel like he belonged. She skipped over the fact that he didn't really, since it wasn't his time, but it was how she felt a lot. She could only connect with her characters in her books. She sighed again, not paying attention to what was going on around her.

Ron walked through the park slowly, no real destination in mind. He, like the rest of his poor siblings, had been forced out of the house by his mother in order to make friends. He let out a soft sigh, slipping his hands in his pockets. He wasn't one for talking to people. Not that he was shy or anything, he just didn't see the need to talk unless it were necessary.
He walked by a tree, almost immediately noticing a red-haired girl sitting there, reading a book. He glanced at the title of the book, not stopping to talk to the girl. He'd never read the book though, and it seemed interesting. "Excuse me." He said, changing his mind and slowing down. "Do you mind if I sit next to you?"

She hadn't heard anyone walk by since she was engrossed in her book. She quickly looked up, startled as a boy spoke to her. Almost immediately her cheeks flushed a light pink, almost unnoticeable from her many freckles, but she tried to pass it by, calmly putting a leaf as her bookmark. "Uhm, s-sure. I don't see why not." She moved over, as if it were necessary, and folded her legs, putting her book in her lap. She bit her lip, then moved her hair behind her ear again, forcing herself to look at him. "I'm Annie." She tried a small smile, folding her hands in her lap over her book.

Ron sat next to the girl, drawing one knee up to his chest as he returned her smile. "I'm Ron, nice to meet you. What is that book you're reading, if you don't mind me asking?" Ron couldn't help but ask. Reading was one of his favorite pass times and he tried to read as many new books as possible, though he did have a book or two that he read over and over again.

She bit her tongue as he sat down, fidgeting with the tattered cover of her book as he asked about it. "It's Time For Andrew. Mar Downing Hanh is one of my favorite authors. She writes ghost stories." It was probably the most she'd said fior meeting someone new, and she started to gain a little confidence. It may have only been a sliver, but it was still something. "It's a really good book." She turned it over to the back and passed it to him to let him read the summary. it was about a boy who switched places with his look-a-like ancestor a hundred years before; he could only go back to his time by beating Andrew in a game of marbles. Drew got the help from Andrew's sister and made friends with his brother as well.

Ron quickly skimmed the summary of the book and smiled. "It sounds good." He said as he handed it back to her. "I will have to go to the library and see if they have it." He paused, chuckling lightly. "As soon as I figure out where said library is." He was actually surprised he was talking this much to a stranger, not that he should have been. If the topic interested him, Ron could go on for hours.

Annie nodded. "It's one of my favorites. Fiction is always a little more exciting than reality." She laughed lightly. "If you know where Ashlawn Terrace is, it's a few blocks from there." She shrugged. "So you like to read a lot I'm guessing? What kind of books?" She took the book, leafing through the pages briefly then putting it on the ground beside her.

Ron chuckled. "I actually live on Ashlawn Terrace. I'll find it." He smiled. "Well, I tend to read a lot of everything. I like to read mysteries the most. But I like fiction, maybe historical-fiction?" He shrugged. "Like I said, a bit of everything."

"Oh."Annie finddled with a ring on her hand, a little modd ring her sister had gotten her out of a vending machine when they were six. "My cousin lives there and she goes to the library a lot. That's a funy coincidence though." She smiled a little. She nodded. "Ghost stories and mystery are what I read most. But I'll read historical fiction a few times, lie the Holucaust or something." She shrugged slightly. "I just like to read." She muttered.

Ron smiled and nodded. "I understand. I don't have a particular favorite." He was quiet for a bit before asking, "So, Annie. Do you have any hobbies other than reading?"

Annie smiled and nodded, but bit her lip, running her hand through her hair when he asked her a question. "I..uh.. Well I like to listen to music and I've been playing guitar. I like to write stories and read them to my little cousins too." She blushed lightly. "What about you Ron?" She smield lightly, but a bit bigger then what she had been trying at earlier.

"You like to write? So do I." He grinned a bit, leaning forward on his knees. "To be honest, I don't do much. I read and write, and I like to tutor and read to little kids. I want to be a teacher someday." He smiled. "I'm not very musically gifted. Guitar is nice, though I think I would play piano if I could play instruments. What type of music do you listen to?"

"That's awesome. What do you mean you don't do much? That sounds like a lot of stuff to me." She leaned back on the tree a little, her hands still in her lap. She nodded. "It's not easy to learn but my cousin thought I needed something to do so he took it "upon himself to teach me." " She rolled her eyes. "He's an idiot." She laughed lightly, looking over at him. "All sorts. Anything that sounds good at the time really. I don't really have a preference. What about you?"

Ron shrugged with a smile. "I'm boring I guess." He laughed softly, looking up at the sky. "Hmmm, well I mostly listen to classical music, and jazz." He shook his head, looking back down at her. "I like to sleep to it. It's peaceful. I don't really listen to a lot of other stuff. If my siblings have something playing I'll listen to that but otherwise...." He trailed off with another shrug.

Annie shook her head. "You're not boring." She propped her elbow on her knee and rested her head on her hand. "My brother Quo listens to jazz a lot. It puts me to sleep mostly rather than to just listen to it." She laughed lightly and nodded. "Any favorite songs or artists?"
