Rosanne zipped up her jacket and scanned her eyes around the street. She slung her backpack over her shoulder, and was holding two books in her hands. She was going home after school. Rosanne crossed the street and went to the sidewalk, looking up at the raindrops that were falling from the sky. The puddles on the sidewalk splashed her jeans with water. Rosanne loved the rain, but didn't really like getting wet by the rain. She began to quicken her pace, looking back to see if she had dropped anything.
Not watching where she was going, and too busy looking backwards, Rosanne bumped into somebody. She dropped her books. "S-sorry," she mumbled and started picking up her books. "I wasn't watching where I was going," she admitted.

Zim sighed softly as he walked home alone. He didn't feel like walking home with Romishi and his group of friends. He knew Romishi'd probably make up for it when he met him at home, but he could never tell. He walked slowly across the street until he felt rain drops fall on his face. He sighed. He liked the rain, getting soaked was the best part. But he hated the sound.Sometimes he wished he was deaf so he wouldn't have to hear the thunder or someone scream from it. He stopped and dropped his bookbag, then looked up, closing his eyes and letting the drops of water fall on his face until he felt someone run into him, almost knocking him down.
He noticed he'd made someone drop their books. "Sorry I shouldn't have been standing in the way." He completely disregarded her apologizes, bending down to help her. "I'm really sorry, I hope they didn't get too wet." He handed her books to her, then took off his jecket since his bookbag was already on the ground. "Here, so they wont get wet." He handed it to the girl, hoping it would help.

Rosanne shook her head. "I should be the one who's sorry. I walked right into you," she wondered why this boy was bothering to help her pick up her books. When she had them all, she smiled at him. "Thank you," she told him gratefully. Rosanne watched as the boy took off his jacket and gave it to her to keep her books dry. "Thank you, but I can't take your jacket when it's raining outside." Rosanne thanked him. "Why is he being so nice? I nearly knocked him over." Rosanne thought. She handed him back his jacket, and stood up. "Thank you, very much.." Rosanne repeated. "And sorry for knocking you over. I wasn't watching where I was going." she realized she'd repeated the same sentence again.

"I shouldn't have been standing in the middle of the sidewalk anyways." Zim smiled and nodded, his red hair starting to drip from the rain. "Please take it I really don't mind. I would have taken it off anyway." He held it out to her again, putting it over the books as it started raining harder. "You're fine. Look..." He bit his lip, trying to think if what Romishi would say. "Make it up to me by letting me walk you home." He kicked himself in his mind. That didn't sound like him at all, and he hoped she didn't think he was a complete idiotic flirt. He really just wanted to help.

Rosanne shook her head. "It's not a bad thing to stand in the middle of the sidewalk," she told him. "People are supposed to walk around you. Not into you." she looked up at the sky as it started to rain harder. Rosanne didn't want to argue, so she just took Zim's jacket when he offered. "Thank you," she told him, again. "Um, sure," Rosanne smiled slightly. "Well, if you're going to walk me home, I should tell you my name... I'm Rosanne,"

Zim laughed lightly. "Alright alright. You win the argument." he smiled at her, not wanting to argue with her. "No problem. It would suck if your books got wet. I know my cousin Annie would get upset." He smiled as she accepted his offer. "I'm Zim. The guy with an odd name to match his odd hair." He laughed a little nervously as he ran his hand through his wet red hair. "We should probably start walking." He pointed awkwardly, not knowing where to go.

"I like your name," Rosanne blushed lightly. Rosanne tucked a strand of a her long, brown hair behind her ear. "Well, my house is in that direction." she told him as she saw him pointing. Rosanne pointed towards the left. "It's on Coldwater Drive," Rosanne added. "So...you would've taken your jacket off anyway?" she asked curiously. "Do you like the rain?"

Zim smiled. "I like yours too... Rosanne. It's pretty." He nodded and held his arm out. "After you." One of his older brothers had taught him how to flirt, another had thought him how to be a gentleman. He could combine the two whenever he felt like it. He nodded. "It feels good. Like a... A moving shower is what I used to call it." He blushed, making him look like his hair and he slung his wet book bag over his shoulder. "If you put the jacket over the books, then you can put the books on your head so you wont get too wet and sick." He stated, just trying to be helpful.

"Thanks," Rosanne smiled at Zim warmly. "You're really nice, Zim," she told him kindly. It was the truth, anyways. "I like rain, too, but sometimes I don't like getting too wet." she laughed lightly. Rosanne tried what he said, putting the jacket over the books and the books on her head. She felt a little silly with books over her head, and blushed lightly.

Zim smiled. "I try to be. I don't think rudeness gets anyone anywhere." He laughed softly, looking her over. "I think you're the only soul on earth that can pull that look off without looking crazy." He put his hands in his pockets. "It's a compliment." He said, backing up his statement incase she'd taken it the wrong way.

"I agree, rudeness gets you nowhere." she nodded. Rosanne laughed lightly, "Um, thanks." Rosanne smiled brightly at him. "I like your hair," she told him, and touched some strands of his red hair. Rosanne blushed deeply, "Sorry about that..." she apologized softly.

Zim nodded again and smiled lightly when she touched his hair. "I don't mind. I get it all the time." He took her hand and let it fall onto his head, but the quickly let it go. "It's wet, you probably don't want to touch it." He said sheepishly, noticing her blush.

Rosanne laughed lightly. "It's alright that it's wet," she said, but didn't touch his hair again, anyways. "So, Zim, do you have any siblings?" Rosanne asked curiously.

Zim smiled lightly, hen nodded. "Uh huh I've got a lot. Too many to count, but my close family is 10. 3 brothers and 7 sisters that live with me. But I have a lot more that live in another house, that one just got so crowded, mom let a few of us live in another roomier house." he smiled. "What about you?"

"I've got a couple of siblings," Rosanne told him, smiling lightly. "You must have a lot of siblings, if you need an extra house for them..." Rosanne looked back up at the sky. The rain was much lighter now, and wasn't pouring anymore. It was more of a slight drizzle. "Here's your jacket," Rosanne handed him back his jacket. "Thanks...again," she hugged her books to herself.
