Apollo chuckled again and put up his hands to show he was on no one's side. "Hey, hey I'm Switzerland on this matter. I mean, whether you like it or not Brody, he's your brother... Not just that but your older brother and until you're 18, he has a say in your life. I know this sounds a lot overrated but I'm pretty sure he does care. He's just worried." Pol folded his hands across his chest and looked at Brody. "Really? Is it that you don't know who you like more, or that you don't want to admit that you like one of them more? You have to understand that you're hurting the both of them by doing this Brody. You get that don't you?"
He shook his head and watched Brody vent by throwing more stones into the river. Apollo thought about the Burkehearts and the Tays and shrugged. He thought about Aya. "At least you don't have cancer." He thought about Xander and his siblings. "At least you still have your parents."

Brody snorted derisively and shook his head. "I don't have my parents. I have my mother. My dad took off when mum found out about Dan. I've seen him once since I was 11. I get that this situation is not ideal, in fact it plain well sucks. But you don't understand. Both of those girls are amazing. And neither one of them will react well by me telling them I'm not interested. I like my body in one piece. Plus, I don't want to lose my best friend. Kylie is his sister and he'll kill me if I hurt her. And if I choose Kylie, I run the risk of losing Bean.."
He buried his face in his hands, finally giving in to the despair he'd been feeling and let the tears course down his cheeks. "I just want someone who can tell me how this is supposed to go."

For the first time in the entire conversation, Apollo was angry and he glared pointedly at Brody. He took a deep breath and spoke silently, the anger resonating from his still voice. "Well at least they aren't dead." The kid was selfish but Apollo understood; he was after all... Just a kid, and it couldn't be helped. "Brody that's what I've been trying to say; you have to pick one... You can't just avoid the issue because you're scared that the other will get hurt. The both of them are hurting right now because they expect the other to be chosen. Don't you see that by prolonging this agony, you're prolonging their recovery? How long will they have to wait till the one you don't pick can let go of you since you held on for so long to them?" Apollo wanted to tell Brody he was selfish, but the kid was crying and so he ran his fingers through his hair and sighed softly, leaning against the boulder he had been laying on previously. "You know, they say tough guys don't cry. I say, screw that. You're barely 18... Still a kid... And you're going through a lot; I promise I won't tell anyone... Go ahead and cry Brody Arthur. It'll make you feel better."

Brody wiped his eyes wearily, it had been years since he'd cried. Even when he and Evie had ended, it had ended in anger not tears. He sighed and lifted his head, running his fingers through his hair. His voice caught as he spoke. "I know. But it's easier said than done. I mean, are you telling me you've never kept something from someone, just so that they didn't hurt for a little while?"
He smiled ruefully, and stood up to stretch. "Can I send you as messenger to whichever girl I end up hurting?" He rolled his eyes to show he was kidding, and balanced himself back on the rock. "Ok, enough emo on my part, why are you do down?"

Apollo chuckled and covered his face with his hands, still laughing. "Oh it's funny you should say that." He looked at Brody and shook his head. "My parents are what you could call the classy high end society type crowd back where I'm from. The problem is that they're getting a divorce. It's why they sent us to stay with my aunt; they didn't want a scandal and they didn't want their kids to be affected. I know because... Well they had to tell someone right? My three younger sisters don't know. I can relate to what you're saying Brody 'cause I'm keeping it from them too." He smiled and shook his head. "My sister, Mel, knows that I know something she doesn't and she's really mad at me for keeping it from her. Kinda why I'm so pissed. She's harping on me day in and day out and I want to tell her... But it'd break her heart."

Brody couldn't stop the chuckle as Apollo spilled his story. He knew it was innappropriate but try as he might, it burst out of him. He shook his head and ran his fingers through his hair. For some reason, even though he hadn't come to any sort of decision he felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders.
"Sorry. I know divorce isn't funny, I've been there, done that got every merchandise there is. But I guess I get to give you the same advice here man. You gotta tell them. Or at least, make your parents tell them. Cause it's not fair on your sisters if they think everything is all ok. It'll hurt them worse if you don't. And...Mel was it? She'll be more pissed when she finally does find out, if she finds out that you've known all along. I'm guessing she trusts you right?"

Apollo rolled his eyes and leaned back against the boulder, still facing Brody. "Well I don't think my parents want to tell them; they exiled all of us after all to keep from making the scandal too big." He shook his head. "Mel... Mel just doesn't like not knowing things; I am going to tell them but only when it's over. Moving itself has stressed them out already, they don't need more drama in their lives." He shook his head. "Besides, you don't know my sisters... They'll be a lot better not knowing for now. Though..." Apollo paused to think... "I have this feeling that Doll knows."

Brody shrugged, a lingering smile on his lips. "I dunno man. I think most girls are the same about when a guy keeps something from them. Pissed as hell. So why don't you try it out first on um..wait. You have a sister called Doll? Please tell me that's short for something not that your parents had a mental blank when she was born."
He shook his head and shrugged again. "Anyway, try it out on her if you reckon she already knows. That way, she won't be mad cause she's in the same situation right? Believing that no one else knows about it?"

Apollo shook his head and smiled. "Okay, you have a point; most girls are like that." He burst out laughing at the horror in Brody's voice. "Her real name's Isabelle but she looks like a doll. High cheekbones, pale face, permanent flush on her cheeks, small mouth, wide eyes... The works." He grinned. "She was teased a lot as a kid and they kept calling her doll; even my dad calls her dollface."
He shrugged. "Yeah, I will... Maybe she won't chase me around the house with a violent item if I tell her first."

Brody breathed a sigh of relief as he explained the history behind his sister's name. "I think no matter what me and Liesl end up having their nickname is gonna be Bean. Everyone I've talked to thought that's what we were actually naming it.." He rolled his eyes and smirked. "I'm not mean enough to purposely name a kid something that will get them teased forever."
He raised an eyebrow, not sure whether to laugh or not. "Violent object? Does she do that..often? I mean that's not a very good first reaction is it?"

Apollo quirked a brow. "Wait, why Bean?" He chuckled softly and shook his head as he repeated what Brody had said earlier, "I hope that short for something and not that your parents had a mental blank when he was born."
Pol laughed at Brody's hesitance and waved his hand around to show it wasn't really a big deal. "Well, I'm known to play a lot of pranks on my family members, especially my sisters...", he trailed off as he thought about the last time he had switched shampoos and had been chased around the house by an angry horde of females. "Now they have a habit of picking up the nearest violent looking objects --decorative samurai swords, baseball bats, the works- and chasing me around the house with them." He grinned at Brody. "They don't really mean anything by it though; just how they show me they love me. Instead of punching me in the nose, they chase me around the house."

Brody looked over the water and shrugged his shoulders. "Cause in the first ultrasound it looked a lot like a tiny bean. with a head." He grinned and pulled out his wallet and fished out the sonogram. It was creased now, he'd pulled it out to look at every night before he fell asleep. Passing it over to Apollo, Brody swelled with pride. "Here's Bean. Aren't they photogenic?"
Brody laughed and shook his head. "I'm not game to play pranks on my little sister anymore. I pulled one on her and her friends at a birthday sleepover once a few years ago and since then she hasn't spoken to me unless she's had to." He frowned momentarily as Miki's face swam into his mind's eye. "Your sisters must be awesome to still love you if you're pulling that stuff."

Apollo chuckled and shook his head, "Okay that makes sense." He took the picture from Brody and looked at it, smiling at the way Brody swelled with pride. Yes he was still a kid, but the baby was his and it was only natural for him to feel happy about the life he had created. "Yes, yes they are."
He shrugged, thankful that his sisters were more understanding than stubborn. "Yeah I dunno why they tolerate me so much. I guess it's because they are the only 3 people in the world, aside from my parents, who know that I'm actually a responsible person and that I would never do anything to really harm them." Apollo chuckled softly when he remembered something his younger sister, Doll had admitted to him once. "You know, one time Doll even admitted to me... She said, 'You take care of us, keep the family stable, and protect us all the time... I think we can manage a little with the childish pranks you pull since it makes you happy.' So I guess that's it." He grinned at Brody. "I wouldn't want your sister and she'd definitely not want me; she'd probably butcher me and keep my parts in the freezer or something."

Brody burst into peals of laughter, nodding his head vehemently. "Exactly. I lock my bedroom door at night for fear she's going to come get me in my sleep. It's lucky I'm a light sleeper, cause she tried once but I woke up before she got to my bed." Shuddering, he remembered the evil glint in his sister's eyes and the pair of scissors she'd been holding.
"She'd planned to cut all my hair off. And I'm vain enough to care about that." He grinned sheepishly as he ran a hand through his shaggy blonde hair. "So from then on I've locked my door, and never sat anywhere that she can sneak up on me. Cause I'm sure she's still waiting for her chance."

Apollo's eyes widened; he hadn't really expected Brody's sister to do something like that. "W-woah... That is a bit... Crazy." He chuckled and shook his head in disbelief. "Though I don't really do anything to cause them harm; my cousin Cameron usually helps them get their payback though." He shook his head and smiled softly as he remembered all the pranks that he had been victim of as well and knew that he and his sisters were on a level playing ground. "I don't think I ever cut hair though; I'm pretty sure if I did, my sisters would beat me to death so I take a lot of pains not to overstep my boundaries 'cause I could get into a lot of trouble."
