Lanh looked down at the table. He had promised himself if Jasmine brought it up he'd tell her, but the swell of emotions that rose after she asked such a seemingly simple question-she was only worried for him-he didn't expect. "Um..." He began, only to clear his throat and shift in his seat, becoming more rigid as he thought of how to tell her. "Actually, both of my parents died at sea. Places like the pool, or something simple like a shower, I'm fine, but... I have Thalassophobia, or um... a fear of the ocean." He explained.

Jasmine kept her gaze on Lanh, her eyes widening ever so slightly at the mention of his parents dying at sea. She gave a light gasp, clasping her hand to her mouth. "Oh. I...I'm so sorry, Lanh. I..." she honestly didn't know what to say..except that she was sorry that she had brought it up. She was glad she knew a little more about him though. Even if it was something as uncomfortable as this...it reminded her a bit of when she told him about her own past. The feelings behind it anyway.

Lanh took a few more seconds in the solemn silence before taking in a breath and looking back up at her, a weak but sincere smile on his face. "I've been working on fighting the fear, and it's in the past, right?" He brought an arm up, motioning as if something was soaring, "All we have to look forward to now is the future, right?" He told her, his eyes displaying a happiness he only got when he was with Jasmine.

Jasmine's mouth remained partly opened, wanting to say something but couldn't. She gave a slight nod when Lanh started explaining, managing to give him a soft smile in the end. "Right. The future." she said more confidently than before. "And..our future looks bright together. We...we will still be together, right? You won't leave me?"

Lanh looked at her with furrowed eyebrows, seemingly frozen in his spot, "Why would I leave you?" He asked her. Bringing his hands back down onto the table and covering her hands with his owns, he looked her in the eyes, "Jasmine, I love you so much, I don't think even I can understand it." He told her honestly, letting out a small smile. "Tôi yêu bạn nhiều hơn so với thế giới riêng của mình (I love you more than the world itself)." He added, then with a small smile, added in her home language, "really, ti amo (I love you)."

Jasmine looked down at their hands entwined together, then back up when he started speaking to her again. Even in his own language she could almost completely understand what he was telling her. But maybe that was because he added the last bit in her native language. "I love you too." she smiled back to him, water starting to fill her eyes. "Más que la vida misma.(More than life itself.)" She squeezed her hands tighter in his, not wanting to let go. Not just yet anyway.

Lanh looked at her eyes lovingly, only to break it a few second later, finally feeling the embarrassing effects of what he had just told her. He chuckled nervously before taking a few deep breaths and apologizing. "Sorry, I meant what I said I just... I never knew I could get that..... romantic." He told her, giving her a peck on the cheek.

Jasmine giggled. "It's okay." she leaned over to kiss him back gently. "I don't mind being romantic." she winked, grasping hold of his hands tighter. "Well, at least now we both know more about each other."

Lanh nodded, seeming to have calmed down from his giggling. "I meant to tell you sooner, but it never came up..." He admitted. He let out a relaxed sigh and gave her a smile, "Obviously now was the time."

Jasmine smiled gratefully at him. "Well, I'm glad you finally told me." she said softly, stroking the top of his hand with her thumb now, leaning over to kiss his cheek again. "I love you, Lanh."

"I love you, too." Lanh replied with a smile.
((Sorry for the one-liner, but this seems like a good end.))
