Lit a Match Just to Heat Things Up

Cybill leaned against the chain link fence that lined the skate park, her Punisher skateboard leaned up on the fence beside her as she lit her cigarette and took a long slow drag. She hadn't seen Ilan it what seemed like years, although in reality it had only been about six months. She wasn't having a bad day, but it wasn't particularly good either. She had her hair in a bun on the back of her head and a handkerchief tied around like a headband to keep her hair out of her eyes, the knot turned to the top. Her Rayban knock-off sunglasses shaded her eyes from the sun and in her usual tank top and board shorts, she looked like a big tomboy, which in actuality wasn't true at all. She was very girly, but when she was skating, she had to fit the part. The actress in her wouldn't allow her to act like a girl in the bowl or even near the bowl. There were several boys here today that had been watching her skate, and were now trying to stare at her without being caught. She smiled lightly and put her cigarette to her lips again. Maybe today would be interesting after all.

Mason had gone to the skate park to practice his tricks, and had been there for a few hours. His brown locks were sticking up in all directions because he was constantly pushing his hair off his forehead to escape the heat of the summer afternoon. Mason was sweating, and the black wife beater he wore was clinging to his muscled frame. He skidded to a stop on his Mongoose, and picked up his backpack that rested on the chain-link fence.

Tearing out his black bandana, he quickly wrapped it around his forehead, to keep the hair out of his face for good. He glanced at girl a few feet away from him and smiled slightly, she was the only girl here and she had balls. Not literally, of course, at least he hoped. In a split second decision he took off his shirt, and then grabbed a water bottle, downing the thing in seconds.

Cybill scanned over the boys in the skate park with only her eyes so that her looking was masked with her mirrored sunglasses. None of them really seemed that interesting, some were boarding and some were on their bikes, one very nerdish boy was on rollerblades, but there was one that caught her eye. As soon as he did, she watched as his sweat-soaked, black wife beater was torn off over his head. She licked her lips and took another drag off of her Marlboro 27 and then let the smoke blow out. He looked hot, in both definitions of the word, and she wondered why she’d never seen him before.

She didn’t move toward him. Instead, she dropped her cigarette to the ground and put it out with the sole of her Toms. Picking up her board she walked over to the bowl and dropped in without a second glance at the boy with the bike. She didn’t like to brag, but she was pretty good. Her brother’s friend, Axle, had taught her and with all the practice time she’d put in with Ilan, she was mobile and pretty damn good on a skateboard.

Mason smirked at the girl with sunglasses' back as he watched her drop into the bowl. He sat on his bike and watched her skate for a few minutes, willing his heartbeat to slow and his body to cool down. He had been putting in long hours of practice how that school was out for the summer, and wanted to perfect his tricks. Once he decided that he had rested long enough, he rode away from the fence and to the set of half pipes near the bowl. Mason gained speed and when he reached the ramp, his bike launched into the air. He flipped the bike while in the air, and landed perfectly on the other side of the ramp.

Mason's face broke into a huge grin. His blood was pumping fast, the adrenaline of the air making his his heart beat erratically. He lived for the thrill of the stunts he did, and when he succeeded, it made all of the long hours of practice worth while. He looked around at the other skaters, some were cheering him on. He nodded to them, before taking off to practice some more of his stunts.

After she had gotten enough adrenaline from her skating she landed herself on the outside of the bowl and kicked her board up to her hand and held it like any veteran skater does. She glanced up to where the boy had been and sighed when she realized he was gone, but hearing the commotion at the half pipe, her eyes turned there second and she spotted him. He was the one drawing so much attention. She smiled, she'd picked a good one. Hopefully he'd take the bait she planned to set out. She walked over to the small concession stand that had water and just a few food choices for when the skaters took a break. "Two water bottles, please," she told the kid behind the counter, who was no doubt working for minimum wage, just so he could skate free anytime he wanted. When she received them, she headed toward the half pipe, opening one of them and drinking about a quarter of it. She stopped about ten feet away and watched the boy skate. She smirked again, her signature sideways number, which usually killed with the guys.

Mason had enough of his bike for the moment, and propped it up next to one of the guys hanging with his buddies by the fence. The guy nodded towards him, and gesture for him to come closer. Mason made his way over to him, and the guy smiled. "That was awesome, man!" He told him, "I wish I was a good on a bike as you. Unfortunately, I'm not. I'm Brandon." Mason grinned, "Mason. Thanks, man. All it takes is no fear, and some practice." He gesture to the guy's skateboard, "Do you mind?" He asked, Brandon so no, and that he was done for the day.

Mason took the skateboard, the first thing he learned how to ride professionally, and rolled over to the halfpipe, not seeing sunglass' girl until he was already there. He rolled up to the top of the pipe, opposite side of her, and launched of. Once he'd and gone back and forth a few times, he launched into the air and executed McTwist, and landed safely rolling back down the pipe. He ran over to give the guy back his board, hi fived him and grabbed his bike.

As soon as he was finished and he made his way over to the fence she raised a brow. He apparently hadn’t seen her, which was fine by her, just made the game a little harder. Then he took the other boy’s skateboard and she assumed he saw her when he turned around and was just trying to show off, now. She simply smirked and watched as he played around on the board for a few minutes. She shook her head, Good on a bike, and a board. This guy is better than I thought… she thought as he walked back over to the boys beside the fence. She dropped her board to the ground and put a foot on it so it wouldn’t roll away. She put the water bottles under her arm and started to clap slowly, hoping to pull his attention away from the skaters by the fence. “Nice moves, Wheels! You got a trademark on some of those jumps?” She was only about twelve feet away from him, so she didn’t have to yell, but she did have to speak up, which was no trouble for Cybill at all.

Mason shot a confused look in the girl's direction, before grabbing his bike and walking toward her. "What? That?" He asked, slightly surprised that she had been watching. "That was just having fun." Mason smiled at her, and turned to go grab his stuff. "But thanks," He told her over his shoulder as he walked his bike away. He didn't think a girl like her would ever be interested in him. She could have any boy she wanted, god knows everyone at the skate park was willing.

Mason smiled softly to himself, and pulled the bandana off his head, shoving it into his backpack. He quickly ran his fingers through his hair to flatten the messy locks, his back muscled rippled with the movement of his arm. He decided against putting the shirt back on, and shoved that into his backpack too. Mason shoved his arms through the straps, and got on his bike, ready to leave.

She licked her lips at his ‘Just having fun’ and smirked. Just showing off, you mean, she thought. She didn’t think he was actually only showing off. You could tell he was having fun, but there’s always dual purpose, right? She watched as he walked away and raised a brow. Did he really just walk away? What the hell is going on here? I’m the one who walks away… This isn’t normal. As he got on his bike, she panicked. “Hey!” she hollered. “You look a little hot!” She started toward him, slowly on her board. As she started to pass him she held out the second, un-opened water bottle. “You know you want it….”

Mason was utterly confused with this girl. Why was she following him, or being so persistent? She was beautiful, even in her boy-like attire. He looked at her, and then at the bottle she held out. He couldn't just say no, or deny the sweetheart that resided inside of him. He smiled, and took the bottle from her, and their fingers brushed. His were warm, hers were cold from the bottle. He opened it, and took a drink. Bringing the bottle back down, he looked at her again and a smiled crookedly at her. "Mason." He told her softly.

Her smile grew as he took the bottle from her and drank it, "There you go, doesn't that feel better?" she asked jokingly. "I'm Cybill. You've got some crazy tricks, bud. How long have you been coming here? I've never seen you before." She opened her bottle again and took a swig, it was really hot and she was legitimately dying. Sighing lightly, she lifted her tank top over her head revealing her navy blue bikini top that was covered in little, white anchors. "You don't mind, do you? Sorry, I'm just scorching." She figured he wouldn't mind, what guy would? She knew she was being pretty full of herself, but that was her last tactic and she wasn't about to let this one just ride away without her trying everything.

Mason didn't some to the public skate park much, only when he wanted to practice his tricks with the pressure of an audience. He shrugged dismissing her compliments. He didn't let things like that go to his head. He did what he did because he loved it. "I don't come here much." He replied, "My family owns a home out by the beach. All my practice equipment is there." When she took off her shirt, his mouth went dry. He took gulp of his water, to have something to focus on other than those little anchors. "Whatever makes you happy," He replied, keeping eye contact and not staring at her chest. "You're a good skater." He commented, "I saw some of what you did, and it was cool. Ever think of going pro?"

Smiling lightly, knowing her last trick at worked, Cybill nodded. "That's awesome, I feel like this place is my second home. It'd be ten times better if I had skating stuff at my real home," she said with a smirk and a light-hearted laugh. Wow, that's not a stupid thing to say... She licked her lips, feeling ridiculous and laughed again at his question. "No way. I'm not good enough for that. I play around, but I've never been that good." Taking another swig before her next question so she could word it a little more carefully than that first sentence. "So are you up in that professional ballpark then? Seems to me you're good enough."

[Alisha]

Mason smiled, "Yeah, it is pretty awesome." He agreed, "It helps that nobody is ever there. I have the beach house to myself pretty much all of the time. Makes practice easier." He leaned on the handlebars of his bike, and watched her. "I think you could do it. There aren't many female skateboarders in the circuit." He looked down for a second, he didn't exactly want to tell her his status, for fear of being called a show off or something. "Uh...yeah." He said, looking back up at Cybill. "Yeah, I actually am." He smiled, "I am sponsored by some pretty big companies. And I participate in the X Games every year." He scratched the back of his neck. "I'm also in the motocross circuit."

Cybill shook her head, "Yeah. Right, even if I was good enough there's no way anyone would sponsor me," she said with a soft laugh. It was very unlikely that she would ever be a professional skateboarder, although if she was she may be able to break into the acting world... She shook the thought from her head and listened as he told her about his professional experience. "Oh. Oh my god. Seriously? I would kill to go to the xgames, much less participate in them. Holy shit." She caught herself and covered her mouth. She rarely lost her composure, but she was in the presence of an xgamer, that's only to be expected. "Sorry," she said, blushing a little and then laughing it off. "I just... That's cool..."
