THE SETTING
Riverside is a fictional town located in southern California. No, it is not the actual Riverside. In fact, the town play-bys are Torrance and nearby Ranchos Palos Verdes, both located in California.
Despite it's namesake, Riverside is sunny coastal city. Just off the coast, Seaview Shores is beachfront property with luxurious homes lining the ocean. The heart of the city is bustling with people, complete with high-rise buildings and a pumping nightlife district. Just slightly up in the hills, the suburban sector can be found. Hillcrest Pointe is about as pretentious as it sounds, this housing development is home to the Californian wealthy families with two-point-five kids and a dog. More inland lies the forest and lake and the residential neighborhoods of Coldwater Estates and Ashlawn Terrace. Just outside of town is where Riverside University is located, home to most of our high school graduates.
Riverside has warm sunny weather and cloudless skies during the Summer(June - August), with temperatures rising into the low 100s, falling into the mid to high 70s. Schools out! Look forward to days on the beach, flip flops, golden tans and short shorts in this season. Maybe you'll have a summer romance or two during these months? It seems the only downside to summer and the family vacations is those long lines at the mall and airport!
The Fall months(September - November) bring cloud cover and the occasional light rain over the city, with an average high temperature in the high 80s and an average low in the high 60s. Expect changing leaves and a colder ocean during these months! This is also the period where the old Brantley manor receives the most visits, mostly from teenagers looking for some spooky fun.
Winter(December - March) in Riverside brings colder days, grey skies, and sweater weather! On an average day in Riverside, you can expect a high in the mid 60s, and a low as cold as mid 40s. Further up in the hills, such as the forest area, you can even expect snow and temperatures in the low 50s to high 30s. Remember to bundle up during these months, you dont want to catch a cold!
In Spring(April - May), snow melts in the mountains, the snow fall becomes rain, and the trees and other scenery comes out of hiding and livens up again. Those with allergies seem to be miserable for these two months, for the floating pollen aggravates their sinuses and sends them into sickness if they aren't careful. This is the prime time to spruce up your yard with some new plants. Temperature warms up, with lows in the low 70s and highs in the mid 80s.
