Seraphim Tay parked her car outside the house, checking the address to make sure it was the right one. Nodding to herself, she set down the piece of paper on the dashboard before running her fingers through her dark, curly hair. She put it up in a messy ponytail before removing herself from the car. With nothing in her hands, she nervously wrung her fingers together, taking shaky breaths that came out like smoke.
Walking to the door was one of the harder things she had to do this morning. She didn't really know why it was so hard for her to get up the courage to talk to him; nothing had ever gone wrong between them. But it scared the shit out of her that there would be someone else and that his heart would no longer be hers because in truth, no one would ever have her heart but Edward Smith. "What is the matter with you Ser? Geez. You can do this...", and she rung the doorbell.

Edward had been watching a movie with Daylin as the doorbell rang. "I'm gonna go get the door, babe, keep watching Remy," he said, referring to what his daughter called the movie Ratatouille. He kissed the top of her head and walked over to the door, around the corner from the living room. He opened it and his jaw dropped. He was speechless. He shook his head, and his lips turned up into a smile. He moved forward and let his hands wrap around her waist, lifting her off the ground. "Oh my God," he said lightly. "Oh my God!"

Once she had rung the bell, she started wringing her hands together; the fidgeting just wouldn't stop and Seraph found that she was scowling at herself when Edward opened the door. Seeing him again after what felt like centuries made her entire body numb.
A tiny laugh of surprise escaped her when his hands found her trim waist. She moved just enough so that her arms could wind around his neck and she kissed his forehead, "I'm sorry for leaving you without any explanation." She looked right at him, remorse and guilt so clearly expressed on her features as she hugged him as tight as she could. "Oh God Ed, I've missed you so bad."

He shook his head at her apologies, he didn't care. He didn't need any apologies and he didn't need any explanations. Not just yet anyway. Right now all that mattered was the fact that he could touch her and hold her, she was right there again. He laughed lightly and set her down before he put a hand on her face and kissed her. He gave her a long hard kiss and when he pulled away, a good look over. He shook his head, still in complete shock. "You can't ever leave me again," he told her, simply. "God, I missed you."

His simple acceptance of her back into his life, as if nothing had changed, as if she had never left, as if they were still back in the old town and the hurricane never happened... Seraph was at a loss for words and all she could do was curl into his embrace, her face buried into the crook of his neck. Her eyes closed and she wanted to stay there for the rest of her life, just in his arms. "You can handcuff me to you, promise."

Edward laughed lightly at her words and kissed her cheek lightly and then her ear, just happy to be holding her again. He shook his head lightly. "I might take you up on that," he teased. "Daylin will be so excited, she's missed you too. Com'ere." He took her by the hand and started into his apartment, closing the door behind them, "Daylin! There's someone here to see you!" he hollered. He walked into the living room and saw his daughter, eyes still glued to the television. "Daylin," he said again, which made her look and she squealed with excitement, running up to the woman she'd been missing.

Seraph pouted lightly, she wasn't ready to join the rest of the world and she had felt so safe in his arms but she followed him into his house, her heart skipping a few beats when she saw Daylin. Momentarily releasing Edward's hands, she sunk to her knees and opened her arms, ready for a crushing embrace with the little girl who had a smile like the sun, "Oh Daylin..." The murmured sentiment was lost in her joyful squeal and Seraph's heart warmed.

Daylin wrapped her arms around her neck as tight as she could, which wasn't that tight, her being five. She grinned and said, "I missed you Ser!" she said with an overexaggerated 'r' sound that she'd recently squires in her speech from learning at school how she should really say things. "Ser should come watch Remy with us, right Daddy? She can come watch Remy?" she asked, looking at her father. Edward smiled at his daughter and his girl, hoping he still had the right to call her that. Edward nodded, "Yeah, we can finish watching with Seraph if she wants to." He gave her a smile and light kiss. He whispered something to her, "Daylin's bedtime is right after the movie, so we can hang out then," he said.

Seraph laughed and choked with emotion, squeezed her eyes shut tight as she reciprocated the little girl's hug. "Oh, you can say my name now! That's wonderful; how has your school been?" She moved so she was leaning against the couch, positioning Daylin on her lap. "Of course I'll watch Remy with you. I actually know for a fact that Georgiana loves this move." The girl glanced at Edward and the corners of her mouth turned up into a tiny smile, "I'd like that."

Daylin grinned, "Yeah! The teacher taught me that I'm s'posed to say my 'r's with an rrrrrrr," she said with a grin. "School is fun. I like home better though. There's a mean girl at school," she explained, nodding, turning her attention to the movie. The girl's father smiled as she explained things about school to Seraphim. He sighed as she talked about the mean girl, which he'd already gone in and talked to the teacher about. He sat next to Ser and looked at his daughter as she became enthralled in her favorite part of the movie when the rats start to cook. He glanced back up at Seraph and smiled at her. He really had missed her.

Seraph laughed and nodded at Daylin at the same time, "Yes; exactly!" She frowned when she heard about the mean girl at school, "Oh there's someone bullying you at school? Well, you know what they say about bullies; usually they're the loneliest people out there." She placed a fond kiss on the little girl's head as Remy tasted the mouse's concoction and found it to be quite good.
Feeling Edward's eyes on her, she turned to meet his gaze. "What?", was her mouthed question.

Daylin gave Ser a funny look, trying to figure out what she meant by that. "Why doesn't she get friends?" she asked, completely serious. She couldn't figure it out. Friends were easy to come by for her, why was the bully lonely? Edward smiled at her question and he shrugged. "You're pretty," he said lightly.

Seraph could not help but smile at Daylin; the girl was too cute! "Well...", she paused before replying, smiling patiently at the little girl, "Think about it... If you were mean and scary, no one would want to be your friend, right? And everyone is probably too afraid to talk to her. You shouldn't be so worried about her Day, I'd feel sorry for her you know?"
She scrunched up her nose and mimicked Daylin's funny look when Edward replied. And with her most serious tone she said, "I think you're pretty too." Well in truth she thought Edward was hot but for comedy's sake, he could be pretty for the night. She grasped his free hand with her own and gave it a squeeze, giving him a cheeky little smile.

Daylin cocked her head to the side. "No, I wouldn't, but that's why I'm not mean to people. I'm nice so I can have friends, like Daddy said." Edward smiled. "I think what Ser is trying to say is that you should try to be friends with her, huh, Day?" he suggested. "Maybe if you make friends with her she'll stop being mean to you."
Edward laughed at her words, rolling his eyes playfully. He smiled at her, though and squeezed her hand back when she took his. He loved having her back with him right now. It felt perfect, he wished he could spend forever just holding her hand.

Seraph winked at Edward and nodded at the little girl, "Yup. What your daddy said. She might not be mean to you if you try to be her friend; she's probably just really lonely and scared to make friends. You can teach her how; you're good at making friends after all."
She glanced at the TV screen, surprised to see the credits run through the screen, "Day, Remy finished cooking and you missed it! Come on, we can watch it again tomorrow, but it's time for you to go to bed, sweetheart." Seraph stood and scooped up the little girl in her arms, letting go of Edward's hand. "Aren't you tired?" She hummed a tuneless melody as she moved to put Daylin to bed.
