After checking her cell phone yet again, Sophie sat on the sand and sighed happily. It was a miracle that she had found the strength to sit down at all. Ever since she had texted Vic and invited him to the beach, she'd found herself pacing around her house in circles, completely giddy about seeing him. Some of her siblings had noticed the way she was acting as well, causing them to question her about the identity of her mystery visitor. Normally she would have yelled at them for being so nosy, but she couldn't really blame them. While she was normally a cheerful person that smiled all the time, she had never gotten this worked up over just hanging out with a friend. Her excitable mood was what led her to go to the beach early. She figured that a quick walk and a nice scenic backdrop would calm her down somewhat. There was nothing, absolutely nothing, that could shake her good mood right now.

Vic saw the text message after he got out of the shower, which is why it had taken him so long to reply, but he grinned when he saw who it was from. he shot one back that said he definitely wanted to come and he'd be over after he got dressed. He was seriously chomping at the bit and dried off hurriedly. He nearly ran to his room and put on a pair of swim trunks and a tank top. He shot back out of his room and ran straight into Bo.
Bo let out a laugh, "Geez, you're in a hurry. Got a hot date?" heasked, laughing lightly which made Vic blush violently. Bo raised a brow, "Oh, you do. Just a helpful hint, that shirt doesn't match those shorts." Vic looked down, Bo was telling the truth, he was mismatching and he would've said he didn't care, but the fact was, he really did. Sophie was into fashion and she would notice that sort of thing. He licked his lips and nodded before he went back and chose more carefully. Bo followed him and smiled, "Hey. Good luck. Its not Mady by any chance is it?" he asked, talking about his best friends little sister who they'd tried to set Vic up with. Vic glanced back at Bo and shook his head, "Uhm, no. Her name is Sophie. Me and Mady are just friends." That was the truth. Mady didn't like him that way, he wished she did, but the chemistry just wasn't there for her and he wasn't going to argue. Especially now that he'd met Sophie.

Sophie's face practically lit up when she read his text message. Yes! He's coming! She would have felt really silly if he'd said no, especially considering how gussied up she was. It wasn't too abnormal for her to wear a brand new designer swimsuit to the beach, but it was certainly out of the ordinary for her to paint her toenails, put on make-up, and fix her hair for what she considered a simple trip to the beach. Usually she just threw on a nice swimsuit with a pair of matching flip flops and called it a day. Her hair and nails had never really been a priority until today.
The funny thing was that she hadn't even realized that she was going so overboard with it. It had somehow seemed normal for her to frantically go through an entire container of nail polish in search of the right shade of fuchsia to compliment her bikini and matching cover-up. Washing and blow-drying her hair had seemed somewhat reasonable too, even though she was going to get it wet again later. It wasn't until she had started putting on eye-shadow when she realized exactly what she was doing and why she was doing it. "Just what is it about you, Vic?" she wondered out loud with a smile. "I need to figure that out." She sighed and glanced out at the ocean. Hopefully she'd be able to figure everything out real soon.

Bo smiled at his younger brother, "Hey, don't worry about it too much, alright? You're a great guy. Just be you, I'm sure she'll like you." Vic licked his lips and looked up at his older brother, the guy he'd looked up to for his entire life. He was giving him a piece of advice and he definitely planned to listen to it. He nodded, "But what happens if she wants me to kiss her? I--" he cut himself off and shook his head. "I don't know how, I don't think I'll be any good..." Bo smiled, "Hey, man," he said, patting him on the back, "Just do what feels right. It'll be the right thing." Vic nodded. Bo gave him one more pat and walked out of the room. Vic left very quickly and grabbed his skateboard, running to start himself before dropping the skateboard and hopping on, headed down to the beach.

Sophie continued staring at the ocean as she thought of her current predicament. She had already decided that she was definitely going to tell Vic about Chris today. She knew that it was risky, but she also knew that it was the right thing to do. That was the only thing that she was sure of; everything else was still so complicated. She had no idea to bring up the subject or how to phrase it in a way that wouldn't damage Vic's high opinion of her. She also realized that she'd eventually have to own up to her crush on him as well, which could make things even more confusing depending on whether he liked her back or not. "If only I had a crystal ball or some crazy thing that tells the future," she said looking down at her phone. "Then I'd really know what to do."

Vic spotted her not that far away and hopped off of his skateboard and started making his way toward her on the warm sand. It wasn't too far off, so he walked slowly, trying not to seem too eager to get there, just in case she would think that was weird. He heard her wish and licked his lips, hopefully she wouldn't get mad at him for eavesdropping, "I think I have a magic 8-ball back at the house. I could grab it for you if you want," he said with a smile as he strode up beside her.

Sophie's face broke out into a huge grin as soon as she heard his voice. A part of her wanted to leap up and hug him, but she knew that it probably wouldn't be a wise thing to do. It would be in her best interest to refrain any gesture that involved touching until after everything else got straightened out. "Hey there," she said, turning to face him. "Thanks for offering, but I think I'll be fine. Although it could be interesting if I had one." She giggled and covered her mouth as she blurted that out.

Vic smiled at her as well and shrugged, as she turned down his eight ball. "Alright, but if you change your mind, let me know. I know it sounds crazy, but those things are right most of the time," he said, teasing her mostly, there was no way he'd believe in what an eight ball has to say. He smiled again as she covered her mouth. "So... I guess we'll walk first and then get in when we get hot?" he asked, licking his lips, looking down at the ocean, trying to hide the nerves that welled deep in his stomach. He hoped she wasn't judging him too hard on what he was wearing. It was Bo approved, but that might not really mean anything. Cybill hadn't seen him, and Sophie was a Fashion Guru (so he thought) and might expect more that a Big-Brother-Approved outfit.

"Oh really?" Sophie asked, teasingly. She wasn't sure whether or not he was kidding, but she knew very well that magic eight balls weren't exactly the best source of information. A friend of one of her siblings had one of them and they used to spend their spare time asking it the most ridiculous questions. According to the eight ball, the sky wasn't blue and it was very doubtful that the grass was green. She giggled at the possibility of using the eight ball for her current predicament. She could just picture it saying "Ask again later". "Sure, walking sounds good," she said, nodding her head and glancing down the beach. "I guess we could have another one of those amazing conversations." She figured that this walk would be a good time to tell him about Chris. If he got mad at her or looked at her funny, she could just run out and jump into the water.

Vic smiled at her, "Oh yeah, totally," he said, trying his best to be convincing. "I mean, I asked mine if I should come to the beach with you and it obviously said yes or I wouldn't be here right now." He nudged her lightly, to let her know he was teasing. He started down the beach in their walk and looked out at the ocean. "God, it's gorgeous isn't it?" he asked lightly before he looked back to Sophie. "So what have you been up to today?" he asked yet another question, trying to keep the conversation going so he wouldn't be stuck in a weird situation. He had a million of them so he didn't get trapped in embarrassment and just forget to speak like he seemed to be so good at, lately.

Sophie grinned at him again. "I guess that I should really thank the magic eight ball then. If it wasn't for its wisdom, you might have stood me up today." She nudged him back, informing him that she was kidding as well. She headed down the beach with him, trying to resist the urge to hold his hand. "Yeah, it really is gorgeous," she said, glancing out at the ocean that had just been hit by a large dose of sunlight. She loved it when that happened because it made the ocean look sparkly. "Nothing exciting really happened today. At least, not until now. Before I texted you, I was doing really boring homework."

Vic smirked and shook his head, "Nah, I could never just stand you up. I would've at least called and told you that my eight ball said it was a bad day." He smiled at her, but then looked away again for fear of embarrassing himself. He let out a huge sigh and glanced up at the sky before looking back out at the ocean. He looked back at her when she started to speak about her day and smiled, "Really boring homework, huh? Doesn't surprise me. I'd figure all homework is boring, really. I've yet to see homework that I had fun with."

Sophie smiled at him, pleased with his explanation. "I think that's very thoughtful of you. I hate it when guys just disappear like that." She immediately stopped herself, realizing that she was letting on way too much than she had intended. While it was a perfect opening to explain everything, she didn't want to just yet. She wanted to just spend time with Vic, having fun and staring at the ocean. Still feeling a little guilty, she tried to relax and laughed at his response to her boring homework. "Yeah, I agree. I was home-schooled up until eighth grade and even then it was boring. I thought it was so stupid that we got homework in the first place."

Vic nodded lightly, "Well you know, I try not to be that guy," he said with a shrug. "You know, the guy who says he wants to hang out and is really lying to you about it, or is like playing hard to get, which in my opinion is bullshit. Pardon the language, but 'hard to get' is kind of a stupid concept in my opinion..." He shrugged and smiled at her as she started to talk about being home-schooled. He listened intently, even though there really wasn't much to follow. "Wait, you had homework when you were home-schooled? That seems kind of silly, doesn't it?"

Completely blown away by his words, Sophie continued staring out at the ocean. "You don't seem like that guy at all," she said, realizing that she was referring to her boyfriend and not just a random guy in general. "I know it sounds weird because we haven't known each other very long, but it's true." Blushing instantly, she quickly changed the subject back to home schooling. "Yeah we got homework. My dad wanted to try to make it as close to real school as possible. It was very hard to slack off, not like that's a good thing to do, but sometimes you want to just have fun, you know?"
