Garret put a finger to his lips, teasing her and then slipped through the doors of the library. Once in his truck he took out his cell phone and sent Aya a quick text.
You know with that adorable comment you can make a guys head spin round in circles. It's not nice. lol Does 'Romeo' know you and I are friends? Cause he might see things differently.

She glared at him, tempted to flip him off if the librarian's beady eyes weren't still on her. Aya sunk back down in her chair, nestling her chin on the top of her arms; looking at her phone. She was surprised when it discreetly beeped, informing her of a new text. She rolled her eyes when she saw it was Garret's and what it said.
Well I'm not nice. =p & he knows; he doesn't like it but he'll deal She sent the reply and sighed at the thought of Monte and Garret ever meeting.

I suppose this is where it ends, if Aya calls him after the break up with Dan, which she doesn't really have to, then it can be here.

It had been a week since Aya had had any contact with the outside world. She had a feeling that both Monte and Garret had been calling her and messaging her nonstop but unfortunately, she had blocked all incoming calls and messages effectively by turning her phone off and tossing it into a bunch of unwashed clothes inside her closet. Now that she was feeling a bit better and ready to face the world, she dug the phone out of the unsightly heap and sat down in it, uncaring.
She turned on the phone, her eyes widening in surprise when message after message turned up on the large screen. Missed calls rose up to 30 and she winced as Garret and Monte's messages turned desperate. Oops. She knew she should have messaged Monte first but for some reason, the thought of Garret's encouragement seemed to matter more to her at the moment. She pressed 6 which was Garret's assigned speed dial number and the green phone button as she rocked back and forth and waited for him to pick up the phone.

Garret dove off the bed and crawled on his elbows toward his phone, after his last attempt at calling Aya he'd thrown it across the room, nearly shattering it to pieces, but luckily only knocking off the protective casing. He warned everyone he knew not to bother calling or texting him and settled in his bed in the hopes that Aya might try to reach him.
"Hey, damn did you lose your phone? I suppose you don't need me to tell you that I've been calling you non stop for a week. Are you alright, you've had me worried?" He realized he wasn't giving her any time to respond and zipped his mouth closed with an imaginary zipper.

Aya winced as Garret fired question after question at her. She could almost imagine the spittle fly from his mouth and she shuddered at the thought. "Um... Hi Garret." She shrugged and leaned against her closet door. "Sorry about being all incommunicado on you; I had my phone off all week and I was just... I dunno, I felt like being alone for a bit. Sorry for worrying you." Aya fell into silence as she chewed on her bottom lip. "I did it. I ended it with Dan..."

Garret bit the corner of his mouth and sat up. "When did you do it? Just now or a week ago? I don't understand what happened to you a week ago that made you want to be alone?" He stopped for a second and then thought of another question for her. "Have you talked to Monte?" He wouldn't admit it to Aya, but he would certainly be jealous if she said she had gone to Monte first or even anytime during the last week.

"A week ago." Aya sighed softly and kicked at her dirty clothes as if that could help with her rising temper. She didn't want him to hear the quivering waver in her voice but she knew he did anyway as she dropped her voice to a whisper. "I-It hurt so much to do it Garret. It was terrible. I've never seen him so hurt. So angry... It was like I betrayed him... I guess I did betray him though didn't I?" Aya shut her eyes tight as she tried to get a grip on herself and shook her head, forgetting that he couldn't see her do it. "No, I haven't told anyone else... I need to talk to him after this but I wanted you to know first." Garret would have accepted a brief phone call, that she knew. But Monte would have wanted to see her and secretly, she wanted her friend to know first before Monte. Aya wasn't sure why but that was what she felt. "Anyway, I don't know why I wanted to hermit around but... I guess I just wanted some time to myself after that you know? I'm sorry for ignoring you..."

Garret opened his mouth to say she was damn right about betraying the guy, but then he remembered he was supposed to be a supportive friend and not try to cut her down. "I'm flattered that you wanted to tell me first." He kept his snide remark about her putting him before Monte to himself. "I think you have every right to hermit around whenever you want, perhaps next time you just tell you're close friends that you'll be unreachable for awhile so they don't worry so much. I almost went to Monte and you know how that would have turned out." He paused. "You're alright though? Dan didn't do anything to hurt you right? I don't know the guy that well, but what I do know of him, he isn't aggressive, maybe I got the wrong impression and you're just covering for him? Been sporting a nasty shiner or some other bruise?" He made sure his tone was light, so she'd know it was a joke.

Aya laughed; a soft bitter laugh. "Yeah I didn't think that out that well did I? Sorry." She shook her head and ran a hand through her hair. The highlighted streaks had begun to fade away, leaving the lustrous chocolate brown of her natural hair color behind. A ghost of a smile passed her lips as she heard the teasing lilt in Garret's tone. "Yeah Garret, that's why I hid. Because Dan couldn't handle it and got agressive." Her soft laugh broke theough the dry tone she had spoken with.

"It's alright as long as you're alright and everyone else is going to be alright. Now if I had gone to Monte and he'd knocked me out then it wouldn't have been alright, but lucky for you I didn't." He grinned, though she couldn't see and all the tense nerves he'd had before she called loosened and he relaxed. "I guess I'll be the bigger man here and let you go so you can call Monte, though I would really rather tie you up in a long rather pointless conversation for a couple of hours just so he has to wait longer for the pleasure of your company, but I won't." He sighed, though he was smiling. "Unless you want to keep him waiting...?"
