"hyung (older brother)!" Sakda called over to InTae, having learned the Korean word for older brother from him and using it since, "what about this one?" He asked. InTae looked at the fuzzy animal, currently sleeping. His mouth formed into a small frown as he looked it over. "It's kind of... funny looking, isn't it?" The two of them were graced with money and ability to chose a family pet. After Sakda had begun volunteering at the shelter, he wanted a pet of his own, but his parents weren't sure about it. After much convincing, he got them to agree. After more convincing, his parents got his eldest brother to go with him to make sure he "picked out the right one." Sakda frowned, "Don't be mean. There won't be any big dogs here." He argued with his brother. InTae simply pointed over to a cage they had passed already that contained a golden retriever puppy. Sakda rolled his eyes. "You're so stubborn hyung!" He said with a laugh, pushing his brother playfully. Looking at some others, he paused at another small dog. "What about this one? She just melts your heart!" He tried, the puppy in question trying to lick his hand even though the cage was made of clear plastic. InTae smiled, "Okay... That one is cute... She? Does she have a name?" "Not yet..." Sakda said, standing up to look for a worker. "excuse me, can I see this puppy?" He asked an older woman. She smiled and pulled out the puppy, giving the little fur ball to Sakda. Sakda smiled as he held her, "Thank you." He returned his attention to InTae, "Hyung, hold her." He tried, holding the puppy out to him. "I'm okay." InTae said, gently pushing the puppy back towards Sakda. Sakda held the puppy, who seemed very comfortable in his arms. "He doesn't like you cause you're not a big dog." He joked with her, only for her to wag her tail happily.

"Andrew, I'm fine, honest. There aren't usually people in the shelter during the weekdays." Jacqueline said as she pulled on a jacket. Andrew, her twin and very over-protective brother, crossed his arms, watching his sister pull her shoes on. "Jackie, I'm just looking out for you." Andrew said, following her out of their room and down the stairs. "I know Andy. But we're 13 now, and I'm not as shy as I used to be." Jackie went to the front door, turning to press a kiss to Andrew's cheek. "I'll be fine. Don't worry." With that Jackie left the house, a tiny giggle escaping her lips. Jacqueline used to be painfully shy, due to people bullying her and whatnot. She eventually got to the point where she couldn't be anywhere without Andrew being with her. Now that she was older, it had gotten better and she didn't need Andrew to be with her 24/7. Especially since she'd started going to the animal shelter. She didn't volunteer just yet, but once she got older she would volunteer every single day. Jackie finally made it to the shelter, pulling the door open and breathing a soft sigh. There were a couple more people here than she was used to, one boy she recognized but she would force herself to be calm and not freak out. Smiling at the lady who normally worked there, she turned her attention to one of the puppies who hadn't been there the last time she was here. "Why hello there cutie. I haven't seen you before." She cooed, holding out her hand for the bouncy puppy to sniff.

Sakda finally managed to pass on the puppy to InTae (whose heart was instantly melted as he got a small lick on the cheek), and went to the sound of a familiar voice. "Don't you... come to the animal shelter a lot?" He asked, hoping he could either remember her name or get away with a good excuse to find out her name. He felt like this conversation would get awkward quickly, as he still felt even though he was fine with English now, he was still more comfortable with animals than people.

Jackie looked up when she heard someone talking, eyes wide. "Uh...yeah, I do." She noticed it was the boy who was usually here when she came. They'd never talked before now, so she didn't really know what to say. "Uh, I-I'm Jacqueline, b-but people normally call me Jackie. Do you...do you work here?"

Sakda glanced back over to his brother, who was talking with the lazy about getting the little dog he was holding. He then returned his attention to the girl. "Uh, yeah... I'm Sakda. Or Dalcom." He said, adding his English name as an after-thought. "I volunteer." He added, still awkward.

"Oh. Sakda..." Jackie smiled lightly, looking back down at the puppy, who was wagging her tail excitedly. That would explain why he's always here. I didn't know he noticed me... "I just come here to see the animals. I'm not old enough to volunteer yet."

Sakda couldn't help but smile, remembering only the couple years ago he had been counting down until he was old enough to volunteer. "I know what you mean, now I'll be excited when I can get some money for doing what I love." He told her with a smile. InTae came over, still holding the little puppy. "She's ours now, so... here..." He told his younger brother, handing the dog over. Sakda let out a small laugh and took the puppy. "Uh, InTae hyung, this is Jacqueline, she comes to visit often." He explained. InTae smiled and gave a small bow, "Nice to meet you..."

"Being here everyday is nice. I love animals." Jackie's eyes lit up when the other boy brought their new puppy over. "She's adorable." She breathed, glancing back over at the puppy she'd been playing with. She'd always wanted a dog, or a cat, or any animal for that matter. But with the amount of kids in the house, they couldn't really afford to have one. "Uh, nice to meet you too." Jackie said with a tiny smile.

Sakda smiled, "Thanks, we just got her!" He told her excitedly, though unnecessary. InTae excused himself to go look at the golden retriever puppy, still liking bigger dogs. Sakda laughed as his brother left, but also kind of hated him, because the conversation couldn't be any less awkward with him there. "When you get to start volunteering, you'll feel like you have lots of pets." He joked.

"Lucky." Jackie smiled lightly at the puppy. She rose out her hand hesitantly, looking up at Sakda. "May I...?" She watched as his brother walked away and giggled lightly at his next statement. "Really? I bet that's the best feeling in the world. I would love to have lots of pets."

"Yeah, go ahead." He said happily, gently passing the puppy to her. "I wonder what we should name her..." He thought aloud, looking at the cute puppy. He smiled, "It's nice cause you don't have to care for them all the time, but they always look forward to you coming." He explained. "When are you fourteen?"

Jackie smiled and gently took the puppy into her arms, allowing her to sniff her hand before she began scratching her ear. "It's the best feeling in the world, being loved like that." Jackie said, still looking down at the puppy. "Not until September."

Sakda nodded, "I agree, I love taking care of them, but I love seeing them go to good homes, too." He told her simply, smiling as the puppy seemed to be very sociable. "I know how it feels to wait, my birthday's in December." He said with a wince and a small laugh. "It sucks."

Jackie giggled as the puppy licked her face, scrunching her nose up and moving away ever-so-slightly. "Yeah, same here. I love seeing happy faces on people when they get a pet. And I love seeing happy pets. It makes me happy knowing they'll be taken care of." She smiled up at him. "It'll be worth the wait though, if it means I'll get to finally volunteer here and do something I love."

Sakda smiled knowingly. "Actually, when I was younger, I was a little afraid of dogs..." He admitted. "But my friend got a dog, and it was so cute, I really fell in love! Especially all the little ones here." He said, petting his family's new puppy. He looked at her confidently. "I hear a lot of people like volunteering here, but since you come here often, they'll look to you first."
