"Really? I don't think I've ever been afraid of animals." People, definitely. Animals were her way of escaping though, because animals tended to love you no matter what. "I love the little ones! A lot of my brothers and guys don't like them because they're small but they're sooo cute." At his next words she looked up from the puppy in her arms, her mouth open in a silent "o". "Really? That'd be so awesome!"

Sakda nodded, "When I was living in my home country, Thailand, there was this mean dog that lived next door to the orphanage. We'd have to run past him every day after school so he wouldn't bite us. His owner hated kids but the orphanage was apparently built after he moved in." He explained, petting his new puppy again. He nodded again when she mentioned her older brothers not liking the smaller dogs and pointed to his own older brother, now playing with the golden retriever puppy. "He's the same way, and was practically the opposite from me. Where he grew up, they had a German Shepard stray a foreign couple had abandoned. He loves bigger dogs." He said, stressing the "love" with elongated vowels and a roll of his eyes. He giggled a little, "Especially if they see how much you love animals. Some people only do it for school or other reasons that force them too. They welcome people like us."

"You're from Thailand?!" Jackie gasped, blushing and biting her lip after her little outburst. "Sorry. I hope that didn't offend you or something..." She giggled lightly, that was the same way her twin Andrew was. He could tolerate small dogs but he would much rather have a bigger dog. Him saying that she would be looked at first for a spot here made her happy. "That's awesome. Too bad I have to wait practically a while year."

Sakda nodded, not seeming phased at all by her outburst. "Bangkok, to be exact." He piped in. "I was adopted into this family when I was about... seven? Maybe eight?" He explained, realizing he really had pretty much forgotten how long it had been since he moved to the U.S. He gave a sweet smile, "I'm sure you won't notice the time passing. It'll go by like that." He said with a snap of his fingers.

"Cool. I've always wanted to visit another country." She looked down at the puppy in her arms again. "You were adopted? I was too." Jackie stood once she realized she was still kneeling, her face crumpled in pain for a second. "I hope so. I've been waiting ever since I found out we had a shelter here."

Sakda smiled, "I miss Thailand a lot actually... It's always warm." He said with a small laugh. As she stood up, he gently took his puppy back, petting the sleepy little ball fur. "I wonder what her name will end up being?" He thought aloud.

"I like warm." Jackie returned his smile, holding out her arms for him to take the puppy. "My twin likes the cold though, I don't know why." She faked a shiver, looking back at the puppy. "Hmm, I dunno. What does she look like to you?"

"Most of my siblings are from different countries. InTae hyung (older brother) is from South Korea and likes spring; my brothers Lanh and Huong Tu are from Vietnam, and they like warmth like me; and Dali, Sammy, and Hua are all from different places but they all seem to like Riverside's fall season." Sakda explained. He looked down to the puppy and let out a laugh, "I don't know, I can only think of funny names like 'Miss Fluffy' or something." He looked up and over to his brother, "InTae hyung, what should we name her?" He called, being just loud enough for InTae to hear. InTae stood up, thanking the lady that let him play with the golden retriever puppy before looking at the little ball of fluff that was now in the family. He smirked, holding back a laugh at his own name idea. "Bof. Ball of Fluff." He said simply. Sakda just stared at him, a twitch in his lip making it seem like he didn't know whether he wanted to smile or not. "Are you serious? Bof?"

Jackie let out a tiny giggle at the name Sakda came up with, only to giggle more when InTae came up with a name. They were right though, the puppy did look like a small ball of fluff. She tilted her head to the side a bit, looking at the puppy again. "Well, Bof could be...kinda cute. I guess..." She laughed lightly.

Said a gave his older brother and Jackie a look as if saying Are you serious, then cleared his throat, holding the puppy up to look at him at eye level, "I think we should wait until you get home before we name you." He concluded, figuring his other siblings could think of better names than "Miss Fluffy" and "Bof." The puppy in return just reached out and licked his nose, evoking a giggle from Sakda.

Jackie laughed again. "Good idea." She nodded in agreement. "Although I still think Bof would be cute." She was only teasing though, giggling again to show it. Jackie did want to know what they would end up naming the puppy though, and wondered if she would ever get a chance to know. Well, he does come here often.

Sakda looked around, "I've gotta be honest though, they must really like you already if you're able to come so often without buying anything. I think if you asked, they might even let you begin volunteering a little early." He told her, then held a finger up to his lips and gave her a smirk, "But you didn't hear it from me, and don't take my word for it."

"Really?" Jackie smiled, excitement filtering into her voice despite him saying she didn't hear it from him. The fact that she may be able to volunteer early blocked anything else from her hearing. She bit her lip, giggling softly. She made the motion of zipping her lips before grinning. "My lips are sealed."

Sakda smirked, "Good. I'd suggest you talk to Mrs. Jill, do you know who she is?" He suggested, trying not to make it obvious he was giving her all this information. "She's here now, I just saw her a little bit ago."

Jackie frowned a bit as she tried to remember if the name sounded familiar. "It sounds familiar, but I can't remember if I've seen her or not." She finally said with a light shake of her head. "She's the one who hires people?"
