"My sister's." She said simply. "She says the same thing and it's annoying." Ellie gave him a look that said 'are you seriously asking that question?' but the truth was that she did know. And it hurt too much to remember, so she never thought of it again. Ellie sighed, closing her eyes and putting her fingers to her temple. "Shut up, shut up, shut up! Sheesh you sound like a shrink! If I had known I was going to get a lecture, I would've left you here with a note that said 'bye loser' when I had the chance to ditch you." She looked at him grumpily. "If you insist, then fine. But I do not want to hear any more of this 'talk to you brother about how you feel' crap. Do I look like a person who gushing her feelings every time she doesn't get her way?" She shot him another one of her looks. "I may act like a child when I'm upset, but I don't whine if I can't help it." She closed her eyes again; she had probably just sounded like whining to him a second ago when she told him why she was having such a pissy day.

Joe let out a chuckle probably a bit louder than he had expected he didn't want to draw attention to them, it was the last thing he needed getting his head bitten off for if someone was to come over and ask them to take their dispute somewhere else. He was gonna say she sounded like a princess but he'd promised he wouldn't call her anything like that and he was sticking by his words. She could get a bit nasty when he knew she knew he was speaking the truth even if he did sound like he was a shrink and she was a patient. That wasn't his intention he certainly never acted his way, he would have normally told her to suck it up and quit acting like a kid but he knew that approach wasn't going to work on Ellie and he really didn't want another telling off. "Hey no need to call me a loser and if you really wanna go you know where the door is" he said all huffy and puffy. If she wanted to be mean then so be it. "but just remember if you do leave that I did try to help and try and be your friend you just didn't wanna hear it. And from what I can tell you are hurting. And if I was to hurt one of my sisters this way I'd want them to come and talk to me and tell me what I could do to improve their mood and make them feel good about themselves again" he said, hoping for the love of god that she wouldn't think he was lecturing her again cause he most certainly wasn't. Not this time or any of the times before like she thought he had done.

Ellie just stopped listening when he started talking .She could tell she was getting him aggravated and she really didn't care. Finally, when he kept prattling on, she looked up, blinked once or twice, the grabbed a napkin. Carefully tearing the side, she rolled up a ball then looked at him again, waiting for him to finish. When he was, she flicked the ball at his face. "Are you done yet? Because I thought we were done with the shrink-y business." She stuck her tongue out, , laying her head on her arms on the table. "You're starting to bore me." Leave it to Ellie to get bored after a few minutes of talking.

Joe couldn't help but scowl at this girl, he just gave a momentum speech about what he would want his sisters to do if they ever felt like this and she failed to listen. Shaking his head when he felt something hit him in the face he couldn't help but screw up his face. He was really done trying she was a tough nut to crack. "So is this what you're like with everyone but your pressious twin?" he said, not really caring if it hurt her feeling she had hurt his over and over since the moment he had sat down. "and like I said before Ellie if you're bored you know where the door is" he said pointing over to it just incase she had forgot.

Ellie nodded slightly. "Pretty much. Though since you claimed you were the ditch-er, I wouldn't expect you to know." She raised an eyebrow at him. Now they were on the same level, both aggravated, both not caring if the other got hurt with the words they spat. She could get used to this. She didn't want uplifting. She wanted a good argument. "Seeing as how you seem to frequently forget, you sat at my table. If you wish to leave you may."

Joe shook his head at her comments she was right he had been the ditcher and now that was paying off cause it seemed he didn't know how to make friends. He was twenty years old and had no friends to name other than his siblings. At least she was right about one thing but he sure as hell wasn't going to let her know. "Maybe I should leave since you don't seem to be budging what so ever" pulling out his wallet he put enough money on the table to pay for the coffees they had order. "Make sure the waitress gets that I wouldn't want you or her to thing I wasn't doing the gentleman thing and not paying" he said scooting towards the end of the booth, giving Ellie one last look before he made he mind fully up if to leave or stay and get grilled some more.

Ellie still wasn't listening until he put money on the table. Then she closed her eyes, sighing. "Come on, I was just starting to think you weren't so bad." She looked at him. "I hate lectures. I like arguments. My kind of friend is someone who doesn't expect me to talk but doesn't always want to know why I'm frowning. Can you do that, Dr. Phil, or am I going to have to ask you to take your money back?" She straightened up, folding her arms. She wasn't exactly sure if she wanted him as a friend or not but she couldn't say he wasn't interesting. She sort of liked being able to talk to him.

Joe looked back at Ellie as she spoke, how nice of her to let him know that she was starting to like him just as he had about made his mind up about leaving. "Well Ellie arguments are really not my strong point. Maybe you should take me letures as arguments? That's the only way you will ever get one out of me. And even if I did like a good argument I wouldn't do it in public, not the overly dramtic type" he smiled, shaking his head at her Dr Phil comment. No one had ever called him that before, they just mainly told him to shut up when he went into one of his long rants or speeches as he liked to think of them. Now he thought more about it, it seemed to happen more and more when he was in the company of a girl. Maybe that was his downfall the reason it took him so long to make friends. He should try and relax abit more and not be as up tight, but he found that hard when he was filrting and he sure wasn't going to flirt with Ellie she would suss him out straight away. "And no, no need to give me my money back. I talked you into getting the coffee you ordered so only right I pay. And I guess I won't ask again what you're frowning about. I'll just sit and wait in silence until you tell me" he said giving her a cheeky grin. That always seemed to work and at least win some people over but he didn't know if Ellie was the cheeky grin type.

Ellie rolled her eyes. "Oh we can agree that everytime you start on some pointless lecture, I'll sock you in the cheek." She held up a fist to show she wasn't being entirely serious but actually attempting to lighten up. Maybe this whole 'friend' thing could work. The majority of her mind doubted it, but there was always a small bug in the back of her mind that told her it might be worth leaving Eian to his girlfriend and showing him she didn't care and she could find her own people to hang out with. She had grown up too so neh. Ellie threw up her hand in mock exasperation. "Finally!" She said as if she'd been waiting for him to come to that conclusion the entire time. When she looked back at him, she couldn't help but crack a small smile. Cheeky grins were used in her family all the time, usually after a sibling did something stupid but humorous or what her younger siblings had done if they were about to get in trouble. It always seemed to have a mischievous plot behind it, according to her. "Yeah right. I don't think you can be silent, not if your life depended on it."

Joe kept his grin on his face as Ellie spoke. He could see she was softening a little, he would have to work on the letures he wasn't sure if she was joking or not about punching him in the cheek if he did so and he didn't feel up to taking chances. "see I knew my Joey charms where working on you" he commented when she smiled. Even if it was a small one it was something other than the fierce look she had held for so long. "Honestly I'm really not that a bad of a guy. I guess you will see that friend" he said with a nod of his head. "Oh I so can be silence. Wanna see who can last the longest?" he chuckled, know all to well he wasn't going to last longer than a minute if that. He always got told he sleep talked so even when he was sleeping he didn't shut up. But he wasn't about to confess that.

Ellie raised her eyebrow when he called himself. Joey. "See, now that's not fair, I can't call you that, but you can call yourself that?" She pretended to glare at him, rolling her eyes at his next statement. "Well trust me, I am that bad of a girl so if you seriously want this friend thing to happen, you're going to have a lot of practice in patience." She raised both of her eyebrows at his challenge. "Sure. On three. One...two...three..." She closed her mouth, leaning back in her seat and folding her arms. Silence came naturally to her. Since Eian was the loud and outgoing twin, she was the silent and shy one. She hadn't always been anti-social shy though.

Joe smiled when Ellie mentioned him calling himself Joey. "Oh I'm allowed to. I can refer to myself as Joe, Joey or sir'' he chuckled. "Maybe when we are closer friends I just might let you call me Joey." he said moments before Ellie counted down to them being silent. Regretting it the second she said one. Taking out his phone he checked the time putting it back in his pocket. Wanting to pull it out and check it again but it wouldn't say anything different, it would only tell him the same thing time was going slow cause he wasn't talking. Folding his arms over his chest he settled into the booth locking eyes with Ellie, if he was good at one thing he was good at staring someone out. He would just have to use something he was good out to try and weigh out all the negatives of being silent.

Ellie rolled her eyes, but grinned when she saw him pull his phone out. It would probably be easier than playing with Johnny, one of her fidgety ADHD brothers who couldn't sit still or stop talking even if you paid him. When he locked eyes with her, she stared back, flexing her fingers so her knuckles cracked. She gave him a sly smirk, picking up her drink and drinking the last sip or two she hadn't finished while they had been arguing.

Joe cracked a smile as he watched her crack her knuckles and drink the last of her drink, making him wish he had a drink at least that would take away some of the tension that was making him wanna talk. They had to be going at it for at least five minutes yet it felt like hours, how was he meant to win when he wanted to talk. Closing his eye he counted to ten before opening them again, wriggling his eyebrows at her in the process trying to do something to distract her and make her talk so that he would be able to say 'haha I won' but she was stiff competition he didn't see that happening anytime soon.

Ellie raised one of her eyebrows when he wriggled his own. The waitress came over and asked, 'Can I get anything else for you two?' since she could see the tension between the two of them had disappeared. Ellie grinned at Joe, then looked at the waitress and signed 'no, thank you.' by shaking her fist side to side, then putting the tips of her fingers to her lips and bringing them down. The waitress nodded, being surprised that Ellie was listening when she went off on her spiel one day about going to learn sign language in college and being the only one who served deaf people in the diner. That was when Ellie first became a regular and the waitress was determined to turn Ellie into a conversationist. The girl smiled, still confused as to why Ellie was speaking in sign language, then turned to Joe to see if he wanted anything else. Ellie gave a wicked grin to Joe, looking purely evil.
