Ellie walked into the coffee shop with a huge sigh. She gave a short nod to the familiar waitress, holding up two fingers for her usual. She licked her lips and slid into her usual booth, drumming her fingers lightly. The waitress came by, dropping the mug off with her warm caramel latte. "You don't have your nephew with you today?" She asked, attempting conversation like everyday. "Nope." Ellie replied shortly. "Too bad, he was cute. So talkative, even though I couldn't understand him. I saw your brother by the way, the other day." Ellie sighed, nodding. The waitress usually commented on Eian. "He was with some girl." "I know." Ellie said sharply, signalling for the girl to walk away. Ellie sighed, feeling momentarily guilty when the girl walked off, looking a little hurt even though she had excepted it. Ellie didn't like company unless it was Eian, and she was jealous that he'd been spending all this time with the new girlfriend. It bothered her that her own twin was ignoring her. She took a sip, the faintest of smiles coming to her lips when she heard her favorite song Iris, by the Goo Goo Dolls came on. She hummed softly with it, feeling that it couldn't be too far from the truth. But she never felt like getting close with anyone. She liked her twin, why couldn't he just stay with her instead.

Music blaring, the roof of his car down Joe swivered into the parking lot for the coffee shop. It held some bad memories but he pushed them to the back of his mind, he just wanted some coffee maybe a bagel or muffin to go with it and sometime along. he'd had enough of studying and his mother going on at him to find himself a summer job so he wasn't lounging around the house or to even find himself a friend so she wouldn't have to see him moaping around the place. Turning off the engine with a huge sigh he got out of the car pressing the button on the key to lock it as he pushed the door to the coffee shop open. Walking over to the counter he asked for a large black coffee and a toffee muffin to go with it and pointed over to the booth where a girl with dark brown hair was sat. He didn't know this girl from Adam but he figured she looked as miserable as he felt so why not go and join her?
"This seat taken?" he said as he sliding into the booth not waiting for her to answer him but sitting anyway. Thanking the waitress for his coffee and muffin he added sugar before stirring slowly as he gave her the once over. She looked cute but rather young for him. Maybe this is what his mother said when she said to make friends. She didn't say if they had to be male or female. But anything at this point was worth a shot. "I'm Joe and your name would be?" extending his hand infront of her face giving her ample time to shake it if she wish but not really caring if she did or not. She didn't look like the hand shaking sort of girl now he came to think about it, which lead him to dropping his hand and leaving it inching from his mug of coffee. Letting out a huge sigh hoping to get her attention she seemed interested in something but what?

Ellie looked up when someone addressed her, giving the boy a scowl as he sat down without her approval. The waitress glanced at Ellie as if asking if she'd like him to leave, but Ellie waved her off, not even in the mood to force someone out who had already sat. "Who said I wanted to give you my name?" She spoke softly without extending her hand. Some might have called her voice musical if she ever put any positive emotion into it or spoke loud enough. But it still had a tune to it that seemed like it should be placed on a sweet innocent young woman, rather than this hard-headed girl. She took a sip from her coffee again, looking past him. "Is there anything you want? Or are you just looking for conversation? I'm sure the waitress would be more willing." She took a chance to look at the boy in front of her, realizing he was probably older than her by a year or two. She couldn't see anything in his face that gave him away for the reason he chose to sit and talk to her, so her eyes shifted back to the spot just over his right ear, listening as the song droned into it's last verse.

Joe smiled a cheeky grin at her when she questioned him about wanting her name. He didn't wanna know for any perticual reason, he had given her his so he felt it was only fitting that she give him hers. "Well you don't have to tell me your number. I'll just have to give you one myself." Looking her over before finally deciding. "I think I'll just call you Fred" chuckling at himself. She would either take the bait and tell him her name or he would have to continue to call her Fred until she did so. "I'm pretty sure the waitress would like to do more than talking. But I'm just after conversation. Getting to know someone. Maybe you should try it soon" he smiled. He was really just changing the way his mum told him to go out and make friends. He might be 20 years old but given the right time he could act like a 10 year old. "So would you like me to stay or leave?" Taking a small sip of his coffee while he waited for this girl to think over his question.

Ellie raised her eyebrow. Great, a joker. This was just going to be another one like her brothers- easy. "Fred sounds fine." She took another sip, glaring at him at his comment about the waitress. Granted, she would never claim the girl as her 'friend' but she found it very immature for him to assume that she would do anything like...that. Ellie suppressed a shudder. She rolled her eyes, letting out a short, dark laugh. "Right. I'll try it soon. Tomorrow, when you're not here." She leaned back, shifting her eyebrows so that the other one was raised. "You don't seem like the type of person who takes 'get out of my sight' for an answer." Now she was basing him to be like her brothers. Someone who wouldn't take no and who would bug her until she talked just so they would go away. Or threw a punch. Whichever came last for them.

Joe raised his eyebrow at her when she agreeded to be called Fred for the for seeable furter. Watching her as she laughed it was a bit of an unusual laugh but granted that she didn't look like your usual girl. Well not after he looked at his sisters and they where the only girls he knew but he wasn't about to tell her that. She didn't need to know that about him not right now or ever if she actually spoke more than a handful of words to him. Not even commenting when she said she would try talking with someone tomorrow he was ready today and he was going to try and get this girl to talk to him one way or another. If he had to flirt, be annoying be scarcatic he would try ever angle possible. "No I don't take get lost lightly. Maybe I'd disappear for five minutes but I'd be back I never give up once I've set myself a target. And Fred that target is you, we are going to be friends I've decided" as childish as it sounded he thought he'd try the straight approach as beating around the bush had only caused him heart ache in the pass and he was looking for a friend not a girlfriend.

Ellie gave him a funny look, almost like the one he gave her at the sound of her agreeing to Fred; she didn't like that. She became grumpy. She didn't like that he had brown hair or that he made the same looks as her, or that he acted like her brothers. That reminded her of the one person she was upset with now, and she did not want to think about her twin. "I don't want to be your target." She mumbled, taking one last sip of her drink, then folding her arms, finally starring him down. She focused on his nose, the one thing that didn't seem to look like Eian.

Cocking his head to the side when she said she didn't wanna be his target, he shouldn't have said target but he couldn't think of another word to use. "I didn't mean target, maybe like project. I don't know how to put it" mumberling as he went along. "I guess I'm just looking for a friend. Plan and simple. Nothing more and certainly nothing less" he smiled. Maybe he had beaten around the bush a little in the past how ever long he'd be sat down at this booth with her. "Do you want another coffee" he simply asked her since it looked like she had finished the one she was drinking.

Ellie raised her eyebrow, then rolled her eyes. "Right. because 'project' is so much better than a target." Ellie sighed, putting her elbows on the table so she could put her head on her hand. "Why did you have to choose me? Honestly." She mumbled, shrugging. "Sure, what the hell. Caramel latte." She raised her free hand and the waitress came over, looking a little wary like she had been watching for Ellie to explode. The blonde may not be considered a friend in Ellie's eyes, but the waitress did seem to feel an acquaintanceship with her regardless of mutual feelings. "Regular. And whatever he's having." She waved her hand in Joe's direct and the waitress turned to him waiting for his answer.

"well what word do you think would describe this situation better then?" Joe asked, "you know me wanting to be your friend and you already desiding that you actually don't want to be my friend, when you actually don't know me. You're just judging me from my cover" he smiled, not really knowing where the speech had come from he wasn't one to go around making speeches. "I'm arlight still got nearly a full cup left I'll call you over when I want a refill" he said monitiong for the waitress to leave them. "As I was saying you really shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. You never know I might have one mighty fine story to tell"

"Holding me hostage." She mumbled. She suddenly sat up defensively. "I never said I was judging you, maybe I just don't like random people sitting with me and demanding I'm their friend when maybe I'm just trying to have a day off from people." The waitress raised her eyebrow at him, glancing at Ellie, who said formally, "That'll be all, then, thank you." Ellie gave him a soft glare. "Well if you're story is anything like your manners, I'll pass on it." She told him straight forwardly, inclining her head as she waited for the waitress to return.

Joe couldn't help but colaspe in a fit of laughter when she called the situation holding her hostage. "well I'm not holding a gun to your head so you could have easierly walked away as could I but I guess we both chose not to. Your just as intrigued by me as I am by you" he said giving her a cheeky wink and smiled. "and there isn't nothing wrong with my manners my ma says I'm the perfect gentleman" he said a train of thought coming into his head. But then she didn't know this side to him. She just saw the sweet Joe not the maybe arrogant annoying side to him that he could be if he didn't get his own way. Noticing the waitress was coming back Joe thanked her for the coffee for Fred and waved her off. "So tell me Fred what is it that is making you so hostile? You got something on your mind?"

Ellie gave him her eyebrow look, clucking her tongue. "My table. Ask anyone who works here." She just scoffed at his comment about his mother. "I bet your mommy tells you you're a beautiful creature as well, what's your point?" Ellie glared at him when he waved the waitress off again, leaning across the table. "Look, kid, you say 'thank you, that'll be all' and give a sweet nod, not waving her off. She may be your waitress but that's not a servant for a hand wave, it's a person for attention, and you'll get that straight now." She'd seen many people wave off the waitresses and waiters around here and she thought it was rude. He had no excuse, he wasn't distracted by anything to just wave her off. "I'm always hostile. Even if something was bugging me, that would not be of your concern." She pulled back across the table, settling into her seat again.

The grin Joe had on his face turned into a frown, she was right he was being a bit rude to the waitress and it wouldn't have done any harm for him to say thank-you, that's all. "sorry" he muttered, never one for apologising but it seemed like he should before he got another telling off. Something he didn't wanna endure from this girl not in a place so public anyway. Listening as she spoke he could tell something was up but he wasn't going to get it out of her that easy. Maybe he should try his Joeish charm not that he had in a while. So he wasn't sure if he knew how to flirt to get his way anymore. "Fred, Fred Fred" he said tapping his fingers on the table, "didn't your ma ever tell you a problem shared is a problem halved? You never know I just might have the answers to your problem" he smiled taking another sip of his coffee before setting the mug back onto the table as he looked over at this girl trying to give her his puppy dog eyes but more than likly giving her a cold harD stare.

Ellie scoffed at him, rolling her eyes. "No, actually she didn't. Didn't yours ever tell you not to talk to strangers, or say please and thank you, or to not be a pest?" Ellie gave him an odd look when he starred at her. it looked like he was giving her some cold warning, but as she scrutinized it, she realized he was trying to give her the puppy dog face. "Lay off. You look like a monster more than a puppy."
