Brody pulled up in his new car, still feeling a little bit sad about the loss of his bike. The hurricane had completely destroyed it, but the upside was that the insurance paid out more than he would have gotten had he sold it.
Walking up the front steps, he felt nervous. He should have messaged Liesl right after the concert, but what with Kylie running off on him as well, he'd been completely at a loss as to who to talk to first. Admittedly choosing neither probably wasn't the best solution.
He ran his hand through his hair and knocked on the door, then shoved his hands into his pockets and leaned against the door frame to wait.

Liesl walked to the door, pulling on her jacket there was no snow strangely, but it was still cold enough. She opened the door and then stood a bit shocked as she tried to push her arm through the second sleeve. "Brody?" She hadn't heard his knock on the door or a doorbell ring, hence the surprise. She glanced down at her watch and smiled. "Right on time to take me to the doctors." She managed to get her jacket on all the way. "I'm sorry about my text earlier, I talked to my mom she said my mood is going to fluctuate a lot and I was taking it out on you because you're my only outlet." She was a bit embarrassed, but not enough to say much more about it. "Uh, well I'm jumping to all sorts of conclusions here, but did you want to take me to the doctor?"

Brody couldn't help but chuckle softly at the surprise on her face. "Uh...hey. Sorry I didn't say I was coming over, I thought maybe you would tell me to leave you alone if I tried."
He stepped out of the way as she talked, trying to take in the explanation of how she'd turned from Jekyll to Hyde once again. "Oh, no that's fine. I totally get it, I was a jerk. I should have called you. At least to make sure you were ok. And Kylie...she's not my girlfriend. She left the concert right after you did and I haven't heard from her since."
Moving towards his car, he smiled shyly. "So I uh... bought a car. And I have a capsule at home, so I can put baby in it when she arrives."

Liesl took her gloves out of her pocket and started to put them on as they started toward his car. "I find it hard to believe you haven't made her your girlfriend yet." She said, though she wasn't trying to be mean about it. "She's really pretty." She walked around to the other side of his car and got inside. "I'm starting to show." Once the doors were closed, she pulled her shirt up just a bit to reveal a really tiny bump. "I didn't think I'd start to show until later, but I guess because I'm so thin to begin with..." She shrugged and put her shirt down a bit. "Can I ask you one thing? What is a capsule? Do you mean a crib?"

Brody scratched his head awkwardly. It seemed for a second that she was actually gunning for him to commit to Kylie. "Well with the hurricane and everything I just haven't really been focused on uh.. that kind of stuff."
Looking down at her belly, his smile widened. He refrained from touching her stomach however, unsure if she'd welcome it, or yell at him for it. "Wow...that's..mind blowing." His face flushed slightly and he bit his lip. "That's what mum calls it. She helped me find it. You put the baby in it to carry her around. And you can clip it into the car as a baby car seat thing as well. So you only need the one."

Liesl nodded. "Oh, so like a car seat." She buckled her seat belt. "My mom and I haven't gone shopping yet, but she says we'll go soon. She's tickled to death about this baby. I didn't think she would be, but she has enough money left over from the insurance pay out to get everything I will possibly need for the baby." She ran her hand over her little bump. "So are you going to call Kylie later? I'm sure she's worried about you and would love to hear from you." She couldn't believe she was telling him to do this, but she was done fighting, she'd have his baby, and naturally he'd be in her life too, if he wanted to see Kylie, then he could. She'd hold out, in hopes that Kylie would just be a phase and he'd eventually get over her and come back to her and things would workout for everyone...except Kylie.

Brody slid into the drivers seat and started the engine. "That's all I got so far, but I figured I'd go shopping once the baby is born..you know, so that I don't get all girl things and we have a boy or something. I mean, he'd still look awesome but people might get confused."
He winked at her and pulled out of the driveway. "Um.. if you ever need space or anything, my mum doesn't live with us. It's just me and my sisters and my brother. So you can come crash any time you want. I have the basement, it's pretty cool."
He nodded guitily as she continued talking about Kylie. "Well, I guess I could call her, and see if we can meet up after the doctor or something. Maybe I could show her an ultrasound picture."

Liesl laughed. "I don't think I'll be buying too many girly things, even if it is a girl. I've never been a real big fan of the color pink and I think baby girls can be just as adorable in blue as a boy without it being confusing." She shrugged. "Maybe it's just me, I know once my mom finds out the gender she's going to go crazy buying gender specific stuff. She's going to kill me with the pink if it's a girl and guess what I'll be doing..." She looked over at him and grinned. "I'll be standing in a line at the local Target returning all the pink shit and buying blues, greens, and other awesome gender things." She looked out the window as he mentioned crashing at his place.
"I'm not sure how great of an idea that would be." She looked at him with this. "I mean, I'm practically telling you to date Kylie and I can't see her being all too thrilled with me spending the night." She played with a button on her jacket and looked down. "I wouldn't be able to refrain from crawling into your bed either, I can't help it." She chuckled. "So just so we're clear, I don't really want to be around Kylie if I can help it. So after the appointment I'd like you to take me back home and in the future if I'm headed into shark infested waters, a place where Kylie is, warn me and lead me away alright."

Brody's heart sank slightly, and wondered just how the arrangements would go when the baby actually arrived. He couldn't imagine not being there every second he could for it. And if they weren't living together...
He frowned as she likened seeing Kylie to seeing sharks and nodded. "Ok. I honestly didn't mean to ambush you at the concert. You know that right? I just thought you two should maybe get to know each other?"

Liesl shook her head."I know you weren't trying to ambush me. I knew she was going to be there before I even showed up. I just didn't expect you to be in each others arms, but that was stupid of me to think that way. I was just crossing my fingers." She crossed both of her fingers for a second and then uncrossed them and looked out the window. "I should have left as soon as I heard the first couple notes to 'Baby it's cold outside' what dumbass doesn't know the two singing it are going to wind up in each others arms? It was stupid of me to even think I could go and get away with not being around her. She's never going to be a friend of mine. Even if I lost this baby and lost interest in you, she's always going to be 'the other girl' to me and I to her. We're probably best left far away from one another and it's ashame she and her family didn't stay back in the other town."
"I'm trying to be as nice as I can be to her from a distance and sadly I don't think I should be. I think I have every right to tear her figuratively from limb to limb but I want you to myself and the only way I think that'll happen is if you test the waters and then grow up and realize where your responsibilities are. I'm not saying you are responsible to date or even marry me, I just don't see you as a guy who is going to pass up on your child and I dont see you trying to beat me in a child custody battle to have full custody, in my hopeful eye you'll weigh your options and realize you need me more than Kylie."

Brody drummed his fingers on the steering wheel, at a complete loss for words. Deciding that no answer at this present time was the best option, he clicked on the radio and "Tidal Wave" played into the silence. As he listened to the lyrics he groaned and switched it off.
Pulling into the doctors office parking lot, he turned off the engine. "I'm sorry Liesl. I wish I could just drop her and be with you. But I can't, without wondering forever what could have been. I know that sounds like I think you'll be waiting for me whenever I want but that's not it. I just know that whatever happens, you'll always be in my life. Just like our baby will be."
He took the chance, and reached his hand out. Resting it on her stomach, he couldn't help but smile. "You're right. I'll never fight you for full custody. And I'll never leave him or her without their dad. There's just a lot I can't predict right now."

Liesl crossed her arms, brushing his hand from her stomach and then without much warning got out of the car. "Fine." She stated, before shutting the door and starting toward the doctor's office, she tried to button her jacket up, but it was fitted and though she hadn't gained much weight at all, the last couple of buttons wouldn't come together and she started to get frustrated. She stopped in the middle of the parking lot and gave up, completely frustrated with herself and her rollercoaster emotions. "Brody." She turned. "I'm sorry." She wiped a tear away and fiddled with the top most button that wouldn't close. "I will be waiting for you, because I'm too fucked up for any guy other than you to want me. Please..." She didn't know what to ask for. For him to hurry up and make up his mind? For him to lie to her? She took a deep breath. "Fucking hormones."

Brody followed her out of the car quickly, feeling slightly crushed that she'd moved his hand away. Catching up with her, he wrapped his arms around her. "You don't have to be sorry. I do, and I am. So very sorry. I didn't mean to sound...However it is I sounded that upset you. I swear." Keeping one arm around her, he ran his other hand through his hair. "I just don't know what I'm doing. And I don't want you to wait for me. I want you to find someone who knows for certain that you're the perfect girl for him. I know that I'll hate his guts the minute I meet him, but that's my problem, not yours. So I understand why you feel the way you do about Kylie."
Kissing the top of her head, he released her and took her hand. "Come on. Let's go see our baby."

Liesl shook her head and refused to look him in the eyes, she did however let him hold her hand as they entered the doctor's office. She had a million things running through her head and she didn't really care to share them with him anymore. I'm the perfect girl for you. There is no other guy. You can say you hate your own guts, but you won't hate yourself for admitting that I'm the perfect girl for you. And no, you don't understand how or why I feel the way I do about Kylie, because you aren't knocked up by some guy who likes someone else. She took a seat in the waiting room and stared at her shoes. In a few months I won't even be able to see my f-ing shoes. She tried to find something else to focus on, but she kept going back to Brody, or her shoes and she wasn't happy about either of them. Finally, she realized that she should probably fill out some sort of paper work and got up to retrieve it. When she returned she focused on it and then without much warning began to cry.

Brody sat down silently, fiddling with the zipper on his jacket. He hadn't been inside a doctors office since he was a little kid. The only time he'd been near a doctor lately was when he'd fallen from his bike, and he was unconcious for most of that time. Tapping his feet as he waited, he cast glances at Liesl, wondering what on earth he'd said this time to deserve the silent treatment. He watched her, momentarily confused as all of a sudden she got up, and understanding dawned on his face followed quickly by a twinge of worry. Oh right... forms and stuff for all the bills we're gonna have to pay.
As she sat down he leaned over her shoulder to look at the forms, and stared flabbergasted as she began to cry. "Liesl what..what on earth is wrong now?" He cringed inwardly, he hadn't meant to add the now. It just felt like he'd caught the train to crazy town and had just arrived.
