Tonight was the night. David and Aeryn have been practicing for weeks, months even. But they finally agreed that they were ready for the big performance. That is, if you consider the Xania Music Venue a big performance place. It was certainly a bigger crowd than the coffee shop during one of its karaoke nights. “How many songs you gonna play, daddy?” Asked Brooklyn, who was bouncing non-stop in her carseat on their way to the Music Venue. “Hm..I don’t know, Brooky. However many they’ll let us. We gotta get them to like us first, you know.” David told her, making a final turn into the parking lot, and turned around to the back to face Brooklyn directly. “You ready for this, baby girl?” Brooklyn’s mouth grinned even wider with excitement as soon as they were parked. “Yeah! Rock out, daddy!!” she squealed, pumping her fist in the air just like her daddy showed her. David chuckled, pumping his own fist in the air a little bit, pounding it lightly against Brooklyn’s before sliding out of the car to get his squirming daughter out next. “Is Maddy gonna be here too?” “She should be. I asked her to come along, and she agreed.” David said, as he started looking around for her, as well as Aeryn to see if she was already inside getting set up. Aeryn’s car was there alright, so she must have been inside already. And as if it were great timing, Madison came parking in next. Brooklyn flailed her arms excitedly, waving to her daycare teacher. “Maddy! Hi! Hi Maddy!”

Dressed in the most casual jeans and t-shirt that she could find, Madison reluctantly got out of her car and shut the door behind her. She was starting to have major second thoughts about coming. Sure, she had nothing better to do tonight, but spending the evening with David was definitely not the best idea in the world. It was bad enough that he managed to creep into her brain, no matter how many times she tried to avoid seeing him in person. Considering that she was his daughter's teacher, the avoiding hadn't exactly been the easiest task in the world, but she had successfully done it for the most part. There was only one occasion where she was unable to avoid him, which resulted in him asking her to come hear him play and her agreeing to it. She wasn't a hundred percent sure, but there had to be some sort of rule against going out with the parents of students. If there wasn't, she would definitely create one for her own sanity. "Hi Brooklyn!" she exclaimed, putting on a smile for the benefit of one of her favorite students. Despite her apprehension about being around David, she was still extremely happy to see Brooklyn.

David looked up when he heard Madison's voice slowly approaching them. And to be honest, if it weren't for Madison's cheery smile for seeing Brooklyn again, David would of guessed that Madison didn't really want to be here. Of course he didn't bring that up, though. Not in front of Brooklyn anyway. "Hey, Madison. Glad you could make it." David said with a soft smile, still chuckling at his overly excited daughter bouncing on her toes. David looked at his phone for the time then, and noticed that if he wanted to have time to set the stage, he would have to get back there pronto. "Hey, uh, Madison. You mind if you take Brooklyn from here. I gotta get backstage to help set up and such." "Maddy don't mind, daddy!" Brooklyn interrupted, running over to Madison's side, grabbing her hand. David simply chuckled, still waiting for Madison to answer herself.

Madison looked over at him and waved politely. "Hi David. I-it's was very nice of you to invite me here tonight." Wow, how lame did that sound? In an attempt to remain calm, she redirected her excitement back to Brooklyn. "Of course I don't mind at all," she said with a huge smile as she grabbed Brooklyn's hand. "We can hang out and have big girl time. Doesn't that sound like fun, Brooklyn?" Brooklyn was her key to getting through the evening. She had to think of this like a babysitting job. It was the responsible thing to do. "Have you seen your daddy perform live like this before?" she asked, kneeling down to Brooklyn's level.

David nodded simply at her, waving them off so he could get ahead of them to meet up with Aeryn who hopefully was already inside. "I like big girl time!" Brooklyn squealed, jumping up and down on her toes excitedly. "I only see daddy play at home. My first time seein' him play at big place like 'dis." she explained happily. "You see daddy play music like 'dis before?" she asked out of curiosity shown in her big blue eyes.

Madison grinned back at Brooklyn. "Yeah, big girl time is a lot of fun, huh? I can't remember the last time that I had some big girl time." Ironically, all of her "little sisters" were adults now, thus making every moment they spent together "big girl time". But sadly, those moments were few and far between. Her sisters were too busy getting boyfriends and going to school, and in her youngest sister's case, moving to an apartment, getting engaged, and planning a wedding. She stood up and made her way towards the entrance, still clutching Brooklyn's hand. "Nope, I've never seen your daddy play music before," she said, a tiny blush spreading across her cheeks. "But I've heard him singing on those cds that you bought to school with you, remember?" And if his voice had the same effect on her live as it did recorded, then she was a goner for sure.

"Me eifer." Brooklyn responded back, smiling wider when Madison mentioned about the CD's she's been bringing to class lately. "Yeah, he weally good, huh? I like guitaw 'da best!" she explained excitedly, moving her arms around as if she were playing her own kind of air guitar. She still didn't get the concept of the 'air guitar', but you could tell she was getting better from watching her daddy play all those times at home. The crowd inside was getting louder all of a sudden, and one of the microphones was being tested, meaning David and Aeryn would be going on real soon now. Brooklyn's eyes widened, grabbing Madison's hand again and pulled on her to follow her inside. "Come on! Let sit up fwont!" she encouraged, continuing to pull on Madison's hand to move a little faster.

"Yeah, I like the guitar too," Madison agreed, joining in Brooklyn's attempt at air guitar. "Does your daddy play any other instruments?" She wasn't sure what was worse, that she was so curious about David or that she was pumping an innocent three year old for information about him. Oh well, it's not like I asked if he had a girlfriend......wait where did that come from?! She silenced her inner voices and walked faster to catch up with Brooklyn. "Yeah, let's sit up front." She managed to locate two seats in the middle with a great view of the stage....and David. She picked up Brooklyn and placed her carefully in one seat before taking the empty one next to her. "This is fun, huh? Can't wait for the show to start." What the hell is wrong with me?!

"I don' fink so." Brooklyn furrowed her brows, trying to think. "I neva seen him pway anyting e'se." she explained, giggling softly as she was picked up and put in her seat. She was giddy with excitement now. She bounced in her seat, and clapped her hands, her legs were even swinging under the table in excitement. "Weally fun!" Brooklyn exclaimed. "Daddy gonna be so good! Aeywin too!" Before then, the room dimmed, and the curtains pulled back revealing David and Aeryn on stage ready to perform. After a few opening speeches and cheers they told to pump up the audience a bit more, they started their first *song. (*skip to :28 for the actual song, and just pretend that there's a female voice singing somewhere in there too, lol)

"Yes, really fun!" Madison placed her hand on top of Brooklyn's knees and patted them gently in attempt to get her to calm down. "I know you're excited, sweetie, but let's try and save some of it for the show, okay?" She ruffled the girl's hair a little and smiled back at her. "I'm sure your daddy's going to be great and so is...." She paused in the middle of her repetition of the toddler's statement. Wait a second, who's Aeywin? Is that some other act that's playing too?
Before she had a chance to ask the question, the room went dim, signaling the start of the show. She applauded politely, her stomach filling with butterflies as she anticipated seeing David on stage. She might have been excited to see him, but she wasn't about to turn into one of those crazy groupies that threw her underwear on the stage. Nope, she planned on keeping her adoration of him buried deep inside. She glanced up at the stage, surprised to see a pretty blonde girl standing with him. Oh so I guess that's Aeywin then.....no big surprise there..... She continued watching the show, resisting the urge to sink down in her chair.

"Oh! Aewin is..." Brooklyn was just about to explain Aeryn, when the lights dimmed and the room silenced getting ready for the show. Brooklyn sat there, only bouncing slightly as their song began. As soon as that as well as another song or two ended however, Brooklyn was standing on her seat, yelling and clapping her hands excitedly. Even if she didn't understand the song's lyrics, it was all in the music and sound of guitar that she loved so much. And her daddy's familiar singing voice of course. "Yayy!!! Go daddy! And Aewin too!" she giggled, waving to the two on stage. She probably wasn't heard much over the large crowd cheering loudly behind herself and Madison, but she cheered anyway. "T'ey were gweat, huh!" she squealed, turning to Madison to see her reaction.

Despite her newfound jealousy, Madison was actually a little impressed by Aeywin. The girl had a excellent singing voice. Then again a lot of singing voices were excellent compared to Madison, who could barely carry a tune at best. It was really obvious why David had picked her for his singing partner; their voices blended really well together. Under different circumstances, she might have actually enjoyed listening to them. If it wasn't for Brooklyn, she would have bolted out that door immediately and tried to reclaim at least some part of her dignity. However, there was no way on earth that she would leave a three year old unattended in a public place, especially a place as loud and crowded as Xania was. She remained seated until the show finished, applauding politely when it did. "Yes, they were great," she said to Brooklyn. "I guess it's time for me to head home now. Come on, let's go find your daddy." She picked up Brooklyn and held on tightly to her as she made her way through the crowd.

After the huge applause both the crowd and Brooklyn had gave the duo, Brooklyn couldn't help but let out a small whine at Madison's last comment. "Awe...okay." She really didn't want Madison to go home already, she liked being around her a lot. Not as much as her own daddy, but pretty close. It probably helped that she was Brooklyn's favorite teacher aide, too, though.
They went ahead and waited near the entrance to the backstage, Brooklyn continuing to bounce on her toes until her daddy and Aeryn came out. "I can' wait till nex' show!" she squealed, while hanging onto Madison's hand until she spotted her daddy come out next. "Daddy!" she ran straight for his legs to hug before David immediately lifted his daughter into his arms lovingly. "Hey, there Brooky. How'd you like the show, sweetheart?" "I wuved it! I wanna see anot'r one!" after she said that then, she looked around her daddy expecting Aeron to come out next. "Whe'e Aewyn?" she asked curiously. "Aeryn had something she had to take care of, sweetie. You probably just missed her leaving in the crowd." he told her, hugging her again as she gave a pout. He turned to Madison then. "So, how did you like the show?" he asked with a sweet smile.

"Yeah, I gotta go, sweetie," Madison said, trying not to let Brooklyn's whine affect her too much. She loved spending time with Brooklyn and felt guilty about leaving, but it was the right thing to do. She wasn't really dressed or in the mood to spend time with David and his singing partner girlfriend.
Wow, there's another show? Won't be making it to that..... She smiled a little as she watched Brooklyn go to her father. She couldn't believe how much she had misjudged David in the past. He was far from a deadbeat. Anybody could clearly see just how much he loved his daughter. She certainly couldn't say the same for her own father. She couldn't help feeling a tiny stab of jealousy when Brooklyn asked about Aeryn. What about me? I thought we were buddies....I guess not....wait a second, I'm fighting for the attention of a three year old? What's wrong with me? She struggled to get her thoughts together and appear as calm as possible. "Oh, I thought the show was very nice," she said, smiling back politely at David. "I should probably get going though. Thanks for inviting me."

"Thanks, again." David smiled at Madison, realizing that she was about to leave just then. "Oh, wait!" he called after her, tapping her lightly on the shoulder. "I mean, you don't have to go home just yet. What I mean is, I was gonna have my brother and his wife watch over Brooklyn later today anyway. Do you think you would want to, you know, go out to dinner with me?" he asked, adjusting Brooklyn in his arms as she started fidgeting again.
