Jaela sat up in her usual tree, waiting for her best friend to arrive. Luckily, she had her drawing pad and pencil to help pass the time. She looked out from behind the branches and leaves, and onto the playground, eying a couple of kids swinging on the swings, then a couple more sliding down the slide. She dangled her legs over the branch she sat on, placed her pencil down on the blank page, and started doodling.
About five minutes have passed, and from what Jaela saw, Sammy still wasn’t here yet. “If only I had a cell phone...I could just call him..” she mumbled to herself as she pulled her legs up on the branch so she couldn’t be seen and continued her doodles quietly.

Sammy ran out the doors and to the "usual tree" he and Jaela would meet at. Looking up, he smiled at her. "Sorry! My teacher made us stay in until we finished the assignment." He explained to her before climbing up the tree. Sitting down next to her, he smiled and looked at her sketchbook. "Were you drawing something?"

Jaela was in the middle of one of her final sketches of the playground, when she was startled by a sudden voice below her. She smiled wider when Sammy came climbing up to sit with her. "That's alright. Yeah, I was just doing a few doodles. Wanna see?" she offered, bringing up her sketchbook so Sammy could see better of the unfinished drawing of the playground in front of them.

Sammy nodded enthusiastically. "Of course! I love your drawings! I wish I was half as good as you!" He told her enviously. He looked over the picture, truly in awe of how good it was for someone their age. "You're gonna become an artist when you grow up, right?" He joked to her lightly.

Jaela giggled, blushing slightly at the compliment he made to her. "Thanks." she mumbled softly, watching him grin wider from looking through her drawings. She laughed harder at his next question then. "Well, I'm hoping I will be. And if drawing doesn't work out for some reason, then I'll be a photographer!" she exclaimed proudly, pumping her chest out slightly to show her excitement. "You could be my model!" she said, holding up an imaginary camera pretending to shoot Sammy in different angles.

Sammy quickly made some model poses before laughing. "I don't think I'd be a very good model, would I?" He asked her, tilting his head to the side.

"You'd be great!" She exclaimed, dropping her hands back to her sketchbook and pencil again. "We could add it to the scrapbook we're making too!" she added in, nearly forgetting about the scrapbook they started together when they were younger. "I don't think we've worked on it in a while actually. I think we need some more pictures of us and other stuff to put in it. Got any ideas?"

Sammy smiled, extending his legs in excitement as he remembered the scrapbook they had started in their earlier years. "Oh yeah~ I forgot about that thing... hum... maybe we can go do something fun like... go to a theme park?" He shrugged, trying to seem nonchalant about it. Or a date...? He thought, but didn't have the nerve to say.

"Ohh! The theme park! I like that idea!" she exclaimed, shaking the tree for bouncing so much. "We're gonna have to take lots of pictures in order to catch up on the book though." she mentioned in a calmer tone then. "That would be fun though...I haven't been to the theme park in a long time..." she grinned wider.

Sammy smiled widely. "I don't think my mom will let me until it's summertime, but maybe then we can go to a theme park together!" He was excited at the thought, not able to sit still even though they were in a tree and it would've been smarter to do so. He smiled, again, looking to Jaela, "And we'll make sure to take tons of pictures!"

"Yeah, same here...I couldn't even leave the house today until my homework was finished... I've gotten a little behind lately." she shrugged. "And I have studying to do when I get back home too! Ugh!" Jaela added with a groan. She smiled again though when he mentioned taking lots of pictures. "Yeah! It'll be great! We gotta go on as many roller coasters as possible too! Those are the best! I love the spinny ones, what're your favorites?"

Sammy thought a moment. "I like anything that goes fast!" He told her, cheating a little, but it wasn't a total lie. He'd say he liked them all, but that'd definitely be cheating. He was excited for the thought now, and nodded enthusiastically as Jaela mentioned how her mom was being strict about going out. "My mom's gotten like that too..." He scrunched up his face in dissatisfaction. "It's annoying." He complained.

Jaela laughed at his response. "Me too! Like upside-down rides? I love those!" she exclaimed, adjusting herself on the tree branch as she was getting fidgety again. "I know, it is annoying...I already get good grades, why do I need to study more?" she said, although she did leave out her worst subject, Math in which she had a low C in.

Sammy nodded, then nodded more enthusiastically as she mentioned her grades. "I know! Me too! It's so annoying! My worst grade was in my worst subject and it was only a C+." He groaned. "I'm already in tutoring for it. What more do they want from us?" He asked her, playfully making it more dramatic than necessary.

"Seriously..its not like we're in high school yet. I'm still focusing on my Art, anyway." she added in, casually flipping through her sketchbook for the thousandth time. "C+, huh? Better than me... I have a C- in my Math class... It's not that bad though. It's still a C. C is average. Average is still good in my book."
