"Ohh, really? My mom says athleticism runs in our family. Everyone's done some sort of sport in their life. Though, some of us chose not to go down that path." she shrugged. "Me, and two of my sisters chose to go down the art path. Another thing my mom was really good at." she explained, wondering more about Sammy's family now as she took another lick of her popsicle. "Does your family have any talents like that? Sports or something?"

Sammy finished off his own Popsicle and thought a moment. "All of my siblings and I are adopted, but mom encourages art or sports. She mostly encourages us to follow our dreams and do what we want. She said growing up she heard about all these miserable people doing what their parents wanted but they couldn't do what they wanted. She wants us to be happy." He explained, chewing on the Popsicle stick mindlessly.

Jaela nodded, smiling afterwards. "Yeah, my mom pretty much wants the same for us. But I guess she wanted us to try at least one sport, since it runs in the family...I mean, I played catch with my brother and sister, does that count?" she shrugged, "Oh, and I climb trees, too! You know, that should be some sort of sport. I would be awesome at that!" she laughed, licking off the other half of her ice cream.

Sammy nodded enthusiastically. "The new Olympic sport: tree-climbing." He said, Popsicle stick still in his mouth as he held up his hands as if showing off a new sign. He giggled and looked back to Jaela. "We'll be the coaches."

"That would be amazing! Professional tree climbing. Who ever climbs up the fastest to the top, wins. I like it." she giggled, finishing up her popsicle real quick, and sticking it in her mouth like Sammy did. She got up then, and began climbing the tree again. "Look out! Here comes Jaela the flying monkey!" Jaela shouted, shooting up the tree like it was nothing, while announcing herself as if she were in a competition.

Sammy giggled as he watched her climb up. He climbed trees a lot more when he was in elementary school, so he had gotten a bit rusty. "Wow, you're amazing." He told her, then played along with her. "Just look at that form! The Flying Monkey climbs up the tree with error, there's no way anyone can compete against the world champ!" He 'announced.'

Jaela laughed, going along with their little game. "And the flying monkey makes it to the top! The crowd goes wild! It's a new record!" she continued chanting, as she really did nearly make it to the top. Or at least as high as the branches would take her. She lowered herself down a little, but stopped midway to take a look at the view. "Whoa! Sammy, you gotta get up here! The view is awesome!"

Sammy looked up, "really?" He asked, beginning to climb, albeit a bit more clumsily than Jaela. He still, however, made it up to where she was in record time. "Wow! You can see all of Riverside it seems like!" He said excitedly.

Jaela nodded excitedly. "I wish I had my camera with me!" she added in with all smiles, not taking her eyes off of the view. She didn't even realize how close she and Sammy were now, since the higher up they were, the narrower the tree space got.

Sammy was looking out at the view with Jaela when a turn of the head made him realized just how close he and Jaela were right now. He bit his lip before mustering up the courage to give her a quick peck on the cheek before quickly looking back the other way, "Yeah uh... these would've been awesome pictures." He muttered belatedly.

Just as Jaela was enjoying the view, something made it even more interesting.... At first when Sammy gave her a quick peck, Jaela immediately perked her head up and to the side to look at him. She nearly questioned why he did that, as it was automatic for her. But he immediately changed the subject back to the view. "Yeah...it-it would have been something..." she replied, not really fully awake, as she was still wondering about that sudden kiss.

Sammy chanced a side-glance over to her, and to see her looking at him curiously only made him blush more. He climbed down a couple branches, mostly to hide better. "Actually... I kind of had a crush on you for a long time..." He admitted to her just loud enough for her to hear.

Jaela noticed him climb down a few branches, and realized how embarrassed he must of felt. She felt sort of embarrassed too. She didn't know how to react to that kiss. She didn't know what to say. Now she feels stupid. The next words out of Sammy's mouth though were partly unexpected though. "R-really?" she stuttered out, climbing just a branch down, but still higher up than him, to give him space. "How-- I mean, how long, have you liked me for exactly?" And why didn't you tell me sooner??

Sammy shrugged, picking at some bark on the branch he was on. "I dunno... Like... since we were about ten or somethin'..." He muttered in reply to her.

Jaela wrinkled her forehead, trying to remember if she saw any sort of signs saying he liked her. She couldn't. Either that, or she was just that oblivious to her surroundings. "Oh.." she simply replied back, now looking down to nothing in particular. "Well...I mean, why didn't you, you know, tell me?" she knew that was an obvious question just waiting for an obvious answer, but she couldn't help but ask anyway....
