Naomi pulled into the driveway of their apartment, grabbing the few groceries out of the back seat and letting Arielle out of her car seat. She watched her daughter run up to the front door and followed, unlocking it and going up to their home. She barely got a foot in the door when the headache from earlier came back worse than before. Naomi stumbled, dropping a few things from the bags and clutching her head with one hand, the wall with the other. Mommy...? She vaguely heard Arielle call out for her, but the pounding in her head was drowning her out.

Max drove right behind Naomi back to the house, with Matt in the backseat cooing and babbling up a storm. Pretty soon, he started to cry and whine, reaching out his hands to Max wanting to be held. "Hang on, buddy. We're almost home." Max tried soothing the baby as he carefully turned into their driveway next to Naomi's car, and got out to get the fidgety baby from the car seat. "Alright, Matty. You're alright. We're home now, okay?" he continued to soothe the baby boy as he began cooing and giggling again once he got back in his daddy's arms. He was about to walk through the front door then, when he noticed Naomi on the floor, grocery's crashed onto the floor. And by the looks of it, Naomi seemed to be in some sort of pain. "Nai?!" he ran straight to her, bending down with the baby balanced on his hip and his other hand on Naomi. "Nai, sweetie. Are you alright? What happened? Where's Ari?" he questioned her, even though he thought it probably wasn't the best idea to do to her after what had happened.

"Daddy!" Arielle piped up as soon as he walked in the door. She flew to his leg, clutching it tightly as tears filled her bright green eyes. "Daddy...mommy..." She whimpered. Naomi winced as even more voices flitted through her mind. It was no longer just the thoughts of the people in the room with her, but even their neighbors thoughts were penetrated her mind, causing the headache to once again worsen. "Max!" She gasped, tears streaming down her cheeks. "My head..."

Max was about to bend down further to see how Naomi was doing, when Arielle suddenly flew at his leg crying out his name. "Hey there, Ari. What's wrong, sweetheart?" he asked, but wasn't able to get an answer quick enough before Naomi shouted his name in pain, causing him to flinch. "Naomi. Baby, what's wrong? Your...your head? Wait..." Max had a feeling there was something he should be remembering, but he just couldn't come to it. "Didn't...didn't your head used to hurt before? I think...?" he asked her with his face full of worry now. "Hang on, baby." he got up real quick to set Matt in the living room with the rest of his toys and blankets, sending Arielle there too. "Go play with your brother for a little bit, Ari, daddy's gotta see what's wrong with mommy." and he returned back to Naomi within another blink, bending down at her side. "Naomi....what is it? What's wrong?"

Naomi slid down the wall with her back against it, placing her head between her knees. She hated this, she'd thought they had left, that she was normal. She didn't know if she'd be able to live with this, knowing she was once again a freak. And it wouldn't be fair to Max to have to deal with this again. Speaking of Max, Naomi managed to look up when he returned, even though her eyes were blurred and filled with tears, and her head was still pounding. "My head...the voices." She closed her eyes again, throwing her arms around Max. She pressed her cheek against his chest, trying to focus on the sound of his heartbeat and nothing else. "It won't stop..."

Max held Naomi close as she fell against him. He placed his hand around her backside, rubbing her gently, while rocking her slowly to try to calm her down some. "The voices in your head?" he questioned at first, suddenly remembering a bit more about when he first met Naomi. "Wait...you... you can read minds again?" he asked again, this time in more of a whisper, as if he didn't want the kids to hear about it...not now anyway.

Naomi nodded slowly, keeping her focus on the sound of his voice, and the feel of his heartbeat. Her head was starting to lessen, just barely but going away nonetheless. "Not just voices though." She spoke quietly, the pain making it impossible for her voice to be barely above a whisper. "I can feel too. Emotions." She dare not look up at him, for fear of seeing something on his face she didn't want to see. "It's worse...I'm more sensitive than before. Max....I don't understand why it's come back now..."

Max practically froze himself when Naomi added in that one other little detail. "Emotions? Really--I...I don't remember you feeling those before..." he admitted. Of course he didn't remember though...because of his stupid brain damage, he can only remember some things from long ago. Max shook his head from his past entering his mind again, and put all his focus back on Naomi and her situation she was having right now.

"That's because I didn't!" Naomi pulled away from Max, the sudden action causing pain to explode in her head. She gasped, gripping her head and rolling into a ball. "I'm turning into a bigger freak than I was before!" She began crying again, pulling herself against the wall. She was sure he was going to leave her, she wouldn't doubt it. Who would want to deal with someone like her?

Max flinched when Naomi suddenly exploded on him. That didn't stop him from keeping her close in his arms though. "Shh...Naomi. It's fine. Naomi..." he looked down to her, moving his finger under her chin to look up at him. "Naomi......You're not a freak. I don't think you're a freak. You're family doesn't think you're a freak. Not even your own children do. We all love you. We love you way too much to even think about leaving you. I know that's what your thinking, Nai. I don't need special powers to know what you're thinking, you know..." he tried reassuring her, continuing to rock her gently in his arms.

"It's not! It's not fine Max!" Naomi sobbed, tears falling full force. "I'm a freak! You shouldn't...I don't understand why. I thought I was okay. All these years..." She stopped suddenly, a small hic escaping. She looked up at Max with wide eyes. "Why would you want to stay? I'm nothing but trouble for you. I always have been." It always baffled Naomi. Everyone else abandoned her at first signs, so why not Max? It wasn't that she wanted him to leave, she would be devastated if that were to happen. But at the same time, she didn't want Max to have to go through anymore with her than he already was. "It's not fair..."

"No--Nai--Naomi..." Max did everything he could to stop Naomi from babbling on and on about how horrible she was, but it was no use. It was like she lost it. Finally, after her final words, Max was able to get something in. "Naomi." he started in a very stern voice, looking directly into her eyes, so she would do the same. "Listen to me...you are not a freak. You may think you are, but you're not. You're just different. Everyone is different. Everyone has some unique quality about them that makes them different. But trust me when I tell you this....even if I were to call you a freak. You're my freak. And I wouldn't want to change anything about you...." he said, finalizing his word and giving her a tighter hug before adding in, "...but, if I were to change something about you. It would be your negativeness about yourself. But that's it."
With that said, Max noticed Matt crawling towards them followed by Arielle. "Daddy...what goin' on? Wai momma cwyin?" Max shook his head. "It's nothing baby girl. Mommy's just...she needs some time alone. I'll play with you later, but for now just take your brother and go play in the living room some more."

Naomi tried to stop her crying, finally getting it down to just the tears rolling down her face. The tears now were for the headache that was still pounding in her head, made worse by her tears. Luckily too, because that's when Ari and Matt decided to make their way to where they were, concern on the little girls face. Naomi turned her face into Max's chest, hating herself for breaking down like this in front of the babies. She waited until the two were gone again before turning sad eyes up at Max. "You really love me that much...that you would stay with me even after everything I've put you through?" She sniffled, rubbing at her eyes.

Max waited till the two were gone and back in the room before he answered Naomi's question. "Of course I do, Nai. The love I have for you...nothing can break that." and with that he pressed his lips to hers, not even caring if he was getting wet from all the tears on her face. All he wanted right now was to get Naomi into a better mood. A better one than this anyway...

Naomi closed her eyes when Max's mouth touched down on her's, her entire body growing warm from it. From just that one kiss she could very well feel Max's love, and it was almost overwhelming. But at the same time, she'd never felt anything like it, and in response pressed against him, kissing him back, headache forgotten for the moment. When she pulled away, it was to show the tiniest of smiles on her lips. "I love you Max. I'm so lucky to have you in my life. I don't know what I'd do without you."
