Avery loosened his hold on her. "Is Tally?" He knew Zane would be a wreck if he had a kid on the way, it wasn't in his struggling game plan, he want a kid or kids somewhere down the road, but not until he was stable and though he was far more stable today than he was last year, but he didn't have Avery's resources and having a kid would put a stop to all progress for Zane whereas Avery, it would be a small bump in the road, but not a full blow out problem. "When are you going to tell her?" He asked, he'd gauge when to tell his mom off when she was going to tell hers, unless of course it was five months from now, he'd feel weird about telling his mom through a letter or over the phone that he was going to come home from BT and tech school to a one year old son or daughter. Chances would be good that he wouldn't come home, because his mom would find a way to kill him before he got the chance, just for telling her in that manner.

Gracie gave him a confused look and she giggled and shook her head, "Oh, God no... we just kind of dared each other to take them. She's not pregnant." She smiled and sighed lightly and set her head on his shoulder and shrugged, "I guess soon," she said. "I mean, I can't go without going to the doctor. As much as it scares me to tell her I want the baby to be healthy and ready for the world when he or she is born." She smiled at him softly, "When will you tell your mom?" she asked before she licked her lips. She pulled her head up and looked at him with a smile, "I thought about getting my mom a shirt that says grandma. But I don't think she would think that was funny..."

Avery nodded, at least Tally wasn't pregnant. "I want the baby to be healthy too so yeah we should get you to a doctor and I guess that means telling our mom's. Uh, do you want me with you when you tell yours?" He couldn't decide how he should tell his own mom with or without Gracie. Maybe without her would be better so she'd be free to go off without feeling rude, though she would be. "I guess I'll tell her tonight?" He wasn't sure, and wanted her input.

Gracie smiled at him and nodded. She shrugged at his question though. She figured it probably wouldn't be good to have Avery there, but at the same time it would make her feel better to have some sort of rock to hold onto while her mother screamed at her. She sighed lightly and shook her head to answer his question finally. "No, you don't have to be with me when I tell her. I don't want you to catch her wrath," she said with a light giggle. Honestly she wasn't able to think poorly of anything right now. She was quite excited. "I'll have Tally with me to protect me." She licked her lips and nodded, "That would probably be best," she said. "Don't you think it's better to get it over with?" She kissed his cheek and sighed lightly. "Let's go sit down and talk about this..." She led him to the living room and sat down on the couch, patting a cushion for him to join her.

He followed her and felt bad for sitting on her couch with how sweaty and nasty he was. "I'm not really sure what to talk about." He admitted. "It seems a little soon to talk about names, and Uh..." He was a guy afterall he looked around for some help. "I'm sorry I'm no good at this. I'm excited, scared out of my mind because we're young but hopeful because you are amazing and I trust you to take care of yourself. Do you want a place of your own or do you want to stay here with your mom? I don't want you stressed out the entire time."

Gracie nodded, she got that, it was a little soon to talk about names, but she'd already decided on the middle name. If it was a boy, the middle name was Martin and if it was a girl, Cadence. She hoped he'd go for that, but she'd address it later when they were discussing what to name he or she. She smiled and turned sideways on the couch, resting her head against the back so that she could watch him. She nodded, "Yeah, I know. I'm all jumbled too, but I've kind of decided that I like excited best. I feel like it's going to be a good thing." She furrowed her eyebrows as he asked his question, though. She didn't understand what that meant, really. Did he want to buy a house? She licked her lips, "Well, Ave, I don't know. I mean... I just assumed I'd stay here unless she kicks me out, which is very plausible, but... my own place? You mean like buying us a house? Because I can rent a cheap apartment and get a job, its not a big deal..." She shook her head at him. She sighed, "But I would be stressed living here, I guess..."

"I'd rather not have you stressing yourself out in a job or being over worked." He hated how that cane out. "I'm not going to come home from tech school and live at home with my parents and if staying here with your mom is going to stress you out then why not have a small place of your own? I can get a place, my dad will co-sign if need be and I can send you my pay checks fir food and anything else you might need while I'm gone. And if you're worried about being alone Tally is welcome to stay until I get back. I want what is best for you and the baby." He wondered if she would start laughing at him, he felt like if he weren't in the situation and he over heard what he'd just said that he'd laugh. It was like a bad sitcom script or something.

Gracie listened to him but shook her head lightly. It sounded kind of silly. She shook her head and moved forward to take his hand, "Avery, its alright, women work while they're pregnant all the time. Unless I'm put on bed rest I'm perfectly fine to work." She smiled at him and squeezed the hand she was holding. "A place of our own would be nice, but I don't know if its possible to make house payments on a private's salary, I don't even know how much you'll make. I'll need a job too, even if we do get a place. Besides, what else am I gonna do? I can't just sit and wait for a baby to be born, I need to do things." She laced her fingers with his. "I just think you're putting most of this on your own shoulders when we should be sharing it. It's our baby, Avery."

Avery smiled and nodded. "OK you can work, but no heavy lifting." He kissed her cheek and forgetting all about his soaked clothes he leaned back into the couch. "I can get a house right now, well except for my age, but my dad isn't going to tell me no. The payments wouldn't be expensive with the amount I can put down on it and we won't have a car payment so I think we'll be fine on my salary, but if you want to work until the baby is born then fine, but what about when he or she comes?"

Gracie giggled lightly and rolled her eyes, "Oh, I don't think they'll make a pregnant chick do any heavy lifting," she said with another laugh. She watched his eyes as he explained the house and the payments and nodded, figuring that he was probably right. "Yeah, that makes sense. I suppose I'd just drive you're car, since you'll be in training," she said, just thinking aloud. She shrugged with his last question, "I don't know. I mean, I guess I'll take maternity leave and see what happens from there. If I'm not ready to leave the baby when my days are gone, then I'll quit... I mean, as long as you're sure you can support a house alone..."

He shook his head and nodded. "I'm positive that I can support you, myself, the baby, and a house right now." He kissed her and ran his fingers through her hair. "And yeah, you can drive my car, I'll put you on the insurance before I go and you won't have to worry about anything." He kissed her again and let his fingers run down from her hair to her belly. "We're going to have a baby." He kissed her again. "I need to go before your mom comes home, she'll be pissed at me for soaking her couch." He was still smiling and kissing her even as he stood. "I love you Gracie girl."

Gracie smiled with his answer and nodded. She listened to everything he was saying, so glad that she was still with Avery. With anyone else this day would have been horrible, but not with Avery. He felt safe and protective, which he was and he also felt secure. She put her hands over his on her stomach as he kissed her and returned his gentle kiss. Giggling with his last statement, she took one of his hands again. "Don't worry, I'll febreeze it and it'll be good as new," she said before she kissed him again. She pulled away and licked her lips. "I'm telling her as soon as she comes home. But I'll see you later, Daddy." She kissed him one more time, this time on the cheek and started to walk him to the door.

Avery liked her hands on top of his, he knew they would have no problems raising a baby together, if anyone their age was going to have it, they were probably the best suited and having her hands on top of his, made him feel completely sure that this wasn't a bad thing. "Text me when she walks in the door, that way I can find and tell my mom." He put his hand on the door. "That way she doesn't call my mom and tell her before I have time, alright, or vice versa. I wouldn't say my mom and your mom were friends or even know one another, but somehow they'd contact one another." He kissed her on the cheek then once more on the lips. "By momma."

Gracie let out a soft giggle and agreed to his terms. He was right, they might not have known each others phone numbers before the hurricane, but surely now they did. With all of the funerals happening around, most people had gotten in touch to work with the planning. "I bet you're right. They'll be able to talk about us and gripe all night, even if we tell them ourselves." She shook her head lightly and smiled at his kisses. "I love you."

"I love you too." He said, wishing he already had a home for the two of them to share, so they could tell their parents and then bolt to it. He closed the door behind him and started walking home. He missed the old town, because he and Gracie were nearly neighbors and now they lived a good ways away from one another. He took out his cell phone and sent a text message to his mom, asking if she was home, she responded promptly with a yes, also stating that she was making dinner and asking when he'd be home. He didn't respond back, he simply kept walking until he got home. He at least had a little bit of time to figure out how he was going to tell her, he went and took a shower and kept his phone turned all the way up, just in case Gracie sent him a text.
