"What about these?" Shane asked, holding up two different toys. "They're cute...right?" He personally liked the bunny one better. Something about the strawberry was just creepy.

Max nodded, "I think she'll love the bunny one the most." he grinned, looking around for another toy Arielle might like too. "How about this one? I already know she likes giraffes."

Shane looked from the bunny, to the giraffe, and finally shrugged. "Why don't we get both?" It would save him the trouble of trying to pick through the two, something he really didn't feel like doing.

Max shrugged, "Sure, why not." he simply said, looking around one more time just in case he found anything else Arielle might like. He spotted another toy then, and not a stuffed animal this time. He grabbed the box, looking at it before starting back towards the register to pay before turning to Shane again. "I figured Ari wouldn't mind learning her shapes. Plus, it'll be something new for her to chew on." he laughed, holding up the box he picked out before setting it on the counter to pay as well as the stuffed animal he picked out himself. "I can pay for your present to her if you want. Up to you."

Shane followed Max to the register and shook his head, pulling out his wallet. "I have enough money to pay for this at least." He really needed to get a job though. He was running out of cash, and it was a bit unsettling. Shane wasn't used to being this low. "Besides, it wouldn't really be from me if you bought it."

Max nodded, paying for his present first then waiting for Shane to pay for his present next. "Very true." he replied, slipping his wallet in his back pocket again, and checking his phone for the time. "Well, it looks like we have a little more time left before anyone's expecting us back. Anything you wanna do? Or would you rather just head home now and sleep?" he couldn't help but chuckle at the last part.

Shane pulled out what little money he had left, giving the correct change to the cashier. Grabbing his bag, he shrugged. "I dunno. What is there to do?" He didn't really have anything to do at home, and he knew it would mean a lot to Naomi if he tried to act civil around Max.

"Um.." Max bit his lip in thought. He hadn't really expected Shane to agree with him about doing something else. He just figured Shane would want to head straight home after today's shopping trip. "Well, I guess we could head to your house to wrap up Ari's presents. You know, so she won't be able to see them yet."

"Would it matter if she saw them. She's one right? It's not like she'll know the difference." Shane shrugged. He didn't really know if she would recognize the toys, he was just assuming. "We probably have some boxes and wrapping paper left over somewhere." He said as they made their way out of the mall and too the car.

Max shrugged. He did have point. Would she know? He didn't know, he was just making suggestions. Well, I don't think we have enough wrapping paper and bags left at our place anyway, so we can head over to your place." he suggested again, grabbing his keys from his pocket as they were nearing the car. He unlocked the doors and put the presents in the backseat before getting settled in himself.

Shane shrugged and climbed into the passenger seat, putting his gift in the backseat as well. To be honest, he was actually a bit uncomfortable at the moment. Sure he and Max were best friends, and they had been friends even before Naomi and Max had gotten together, but that had been before he had turned "rouge" as his mother put. And to put it simply, he wasn't used to "bonding" with people.

Max started up the car and headed towards Shane's house. On the way there, he could tell from the sort of awkward silence between them that Shane was not comfortable. He just hoped it wasn't something he did. Soon enough, they were parked outside the house. He grabbed his present to Arielle and started up to the front door with Shane.

"Hey." Shane said as they neared his house. "Sorry if I'm being a major ass today. It's just," He ran a hand through his hair and sighed. "I'm not used to having someone there for me, ya know? I mean, sure Naomi and mom have been there for me and all, but I never really had a male figure, like a brother or father there for me." They finally made it to the house, and he stopped before things got to awkward. "I guess, I mean...thanks." He finally sighed, hoping out the car and going into his house, leading the way to the basement where they kept all the wrapping paper.

Max looked back when Shane started speaking to him again. He nodded, understanding what he was saying. "Oh, no problem, Shane." he patted his back in a brotherly way. "You know I got your back, right? Always will." he grinned, following Shane into the house then, and into the basement where the wrapping paper was.

"Hnn..." Was Shane's answer. He wasn't used to this affection crap at all, unless it was from Naomi, so it naturally made him feel awkward. He pulled out some pink wrapping paper from when Ichigo had her birthday last month and handed it to Max, climbing over stuff to find some spare boxes. Why did his mom keep all this crap anyway?
