They passed by numerous stores like the bookshop she had been in before she had met Kai, and The Body Shop which she knew Jackie seemed to love a lot. Mia turned to glance at Kai, her eyes wide in curiosity. "I don't know if I'm allowed to ask you such a personal question but where's your birth family?" She was afraid that he'd say they passed away or worse, had mistreated him but she still wanted to know for some reason. He had been totally uprooted from such a different place to just be dropped in the quiet and boring backwater town known as Riverside. It wasn't that she disliked the town; she liked it and thought it was quite charming, but she missed her house and her friends and the places that had been so familiar to her.

Kalani just continued grinning, looking around at all the stores, "Honestly? I'm not sure. I was dropped off at an adoption center as a baby with only my name and the fact I was half Japanese..." He furrowed his eyebrows, thinking about it, "One day, maybe I'd like to find out who they were, but right now, I'm content. My adoption center wasn't bad or anything, so I didn't mind growing up there. And now I have a new family to get used to." He told her honestly. Are you normally this open to someone you've just met? His mind seemed to criticize his mouth.

Mia bit her lip and laughed a bit nervously. "O-oh... Sorry, I didn't mean to ask such a personal question." Amelia was an intelligent person but sometimes had the habit of putting her foot in her mouth when talking to the opposite sex. "Well as long as your new family is nice, right? Are you adjusting well? I mean to the town and the people in it, in general?" She laughed again and shook her head. "Sorry, I keep asking you all these questions and you know nothing about me; you can ask if you like... It'd probably be a better way to converse than just me asking you all these questions; kinda sounds a bit like an interrogation huh?"

Kalani laughed, "I don't mind. Maybe I like the attention." He thought a moment, his carefree smile not leaving his face, "Everything happens so quickly around here. In Hawaii, there's never any rush to go anywhere, I'm still getting used to speeding myself up... And keeping up." He told her with another laugh.

Mia smiled when she saw Kai smile. He really was handsome and his smile only seemed to put more emphasis on his good looks. She laughed and nodded. "Yeah, you're going to have to get used to that." Mia was actually pretty used to that lifestyle... One where she always rushed and hurried and had no time to savor the better things. She was used to it so she didn't have to adjust; if there was one thing she liked about it though it meant that at least a schedule could be followed. Things made sense to her that way.

Kalani nodded, about to say something when he spotted it: the Game Stop. He pointed to it, "If it won't bore you too much, can we stop in there for a little bit?" He requested of her. She didn't strike him as a gamer type, and if it would bore her too much, he knew where it was now, and he could always go back later. "Don't lie, I don't mind if you don't want to." He added.

Mia laughed and nodded. "Sure we can go in; I won't lie and say I'm the type who enjoys games; that's more of my siblings' thing. But if you promise me we won't stay there for more than 30 minutes, then it's cool." She turned to him and gave him a smile as she slowly made her way to the Gamestop, lightly stretching her hand towards his. "Shall we?"

Kalani smiled and took her hand, "You better time me then." He said jokingly, going to the xbox 360 games. He glanced at their hands, swinging them playfully, she was nice, and pretty, and he couldn't help but notice how well their hands fit together.

Mia glanced at the thin black watch on her wrist and showed it to him. "Time starts now, Kai." She laughed when she felt him swinging their hands; she could tell he was the sweet and playful type and she found that cute. Mia followed him towards the Xbox 360 games and tilted her head. "Your an Xbox guy?" Her entire family were Sony lovers and had every unit Sony had ever made.

Kalani nodded, "Well, to be fair, it's the only system I have, but when I was younger I had a Dreamcast, and when I saw Xbox 360 had a Dreamcast set, I got excited and bought an Xbox 360." He admitted. He smiled as he found the game he had been looking for: Dragon Age II. "Yesss, I was hoping they'd have it." He muttered excitedly to himself, frowning at the price but excited to know he'd have just enough if he added some of his own money. "Though to be honest, I'm no where near rich. The money I spent to get an Xbox 360 is the exact reason I don't have my own car yet." He admitted with a laugh. "Not even some cheap thing that should be broken beyond repair."

Mia grinned. "Oh my family are Sony lovers. My brother had the PS1 when he was little, we still have a PS2 because the games are great and my sisters have the PS3 with their move." She scrunched up her nose as she tried to remember. "And I think Sasha got a PSP for her birthday." She shrugged, she had played the dance games on the PS2 and PS3 and she liked them enough. "Like I said, I'm not much of a gamer though I have tried the dance games... I'm not that good though." She said with another laugh. Mia leaned close to him to take a peek at the game he was holding. "So what's that game about?"

Kalani looked carefully at the cover before replying, not taking his eyes off it, "Well, to be honest, I'm not 100% sure. I saw a preview for it once and thought it looked really awesome, though." He replied. Still listening to her while looking at other games, he nodded seemingly absent-mindedly. "Yeah, I'm not too coordinated." He said with a laugh, not finding any other games of interest and going to wait in line. "I like the DDR games and whatnot, but I suck at them."

Mia continued to follow him; it wasn't hard since her hand was still in his. "I think there was only one Xbox game that I liked and they made a PS2 version of it; Baldur's Gate. I loved that game. I didn't play it, I just watched Doll and Sasha play it but the story was very interesting." She laughed at him and grinned. "Then I guess we have something in common; though I'd like to think I'm pretty coordinated, I just suck at the games." She shook her head.

Kalani's eyes widened, "I loved Baldur's Gate, my friend back in Hawaii had it." He grinned, "I'd have played it all weekend if had been allowed." He joked lightly. In a second of silence, he finally realized they never let their hands part, and he blushed a little as he let go. "You... probably want that back." He said, trying to make the moment less awkward.

Mia laughed as her cheeks flushed and she put her hand in the pocket of her skirt. "Y-yeah, thanks." She gestured to the line seeing as it was Kai's turn already. "U-um, it's your turn." She muttered sheepishly as she smiled and turned around trying to fan her cheeks to keep them from turning any redder. She didn't know why Kalani affected her so; she barely knew him but he was really friendly and had a habit of blushing which she thought was cute.
