"Really?" JuLong said more than asked, looking excited to go. He looked down to his clothes, a simple tank top and some baggy shorts that he had slept in the night before. "Should I change?" He asked Tillie with a small wince. He should've changed earlier that day, but he had been too tired to do much of anything.

Tillie nodded enthusiastically, already hopping up to her feet and waiting for JuLong to follow. She looked down at what he was wearing then, biting her lip in thought. "Um..I think you're fine. You can always go shirtless too, you know. It is the beach after all..." she smirked, "Plus, I don't think I've ever seen you without a shirt on before. I think it'd be a nice surprise. I wanna see all your muscles you're hiding under there!" she exclaimed, a bit too loudly too. But she didn't care. She let out her usual fits of giggles as she waited patiently for JuLong to get up to his feet with her.

"Please." Li muttered with a short chuckle. JuLong just laughed nervously as he glanced to his sister, looking to his arms. "I don't think I have very many muscle..." He joked modestly, flexing his arm. He stood up finally, grabbing the towel as he got up and slinging it over his shoulder, careful not to hit Tillie. He began heading towards the house, but then looked to Li. "Mei mei, you put on sunblock, right?" He asked. "Yeah." Li replied simply, the sun seeming to cause her to not even want tot fight with him anymore. "Be car-ful to not get sunburn." Julong told her simply, the care he had for his sister obvious in his voice. "careful ge (older brother). I don't even know what the fuck carful is." She grumbled, turning her head to face the two. "Just go, I'll be fine here." She insisted, not lifting her head from it's resting spot. JuLong stared at her for a couple seconds longer before letting out a sigh and opening the door. "Mama, 我们去海边 (we're going to the beach)." He told his mother, who was back to making something in the kitchen. "如果你在吃晚饭的时候回来,蒂莉可以有一些太。你父亲说,他会迟到,所以我们有多余的。(if you come back in time for dinner, Tillie can have some too. Your father said he'd be late, so we'll have extra.)" His mother told him. Julong nodded, looking to Tillie, "Ma says it's okay for you to have dinner with us later, if you want." He told her, his infectious smile finally showing up on his face even though his eyes still seemed tired.
((For the record, Tillie's name in Chinese is Di Li. At least according to Google Translate. lol))

"Oh, come on! I'm sure you have something under there..." Tillie continued to tease, playfully tugging on his shirt before following him back in the house and to the front door. "And don't worry, I'll keep correcting you on your mispronouncing of words." she added in, waving goodbye to his mother as they made their way out the door. "Oo~ do you know what your having yet?" she asked eagerly, at the mention of dinner. She bounced on her toes through each step showing how excited she was to finally be out of the house and in the open with her boyfriend.

Julong tried to think of what he saw his mother making. "It look like.. um... Chinese food. You might really like." He told her, laughing a bit as he couldn't quite place it. "Maybe noodle and soup." He added unhelpfully. He noticed her hand swinging next to his, making sure to successfully grab it this time. He held up her hand, mostly to get her attention. "I really am glad you are helping me with English." He told her with a grin, "Because in college, there is no English as second language help. So it would be really scary. My brother is also go into college, but he very much better at English than I am." He let out a bashful laugh. "But you probably notice both my sibling so much better than me." He added.

"Ohh~ Like chicken noodle soup?" Tillie asked, bouncing with excitement. She noticed him grasping her hand again, this time more successful than the first time, and even let out a small giggle as he held up her hand. "Well, I'm glad I can help." she smiled wider. "Okay, wait. Let me rephrase that sentence for you. Your brother goes to college too, but is more fluent in English than you are." she rephrased, hoping he understood the difference. "And yes, I did notice how much better your siblings are with English than you. That doesn't change anything though, you know. I still love you just the same." she reminded him, leaning up to give him a quick peck on the cheek, leaving a giggle to escape afterward.

JuLong chuckled, nodding as he made note of the grammar, but a part of him was swearing he'd never get English properly. "Because my brother is just out of high school, and my sister is still in." He began explaining. "Both learn from native speaker, but when I was in high school there was no native English teacher. I learn from Chinese person." He explained. "Also, both had been studying for college entrance exams. Ve~ry difficult in China." He added. He thought more about what she had mentioned about the food, but wasn't too familiar with "chicken noodle soup." "What is Chicken Noodle Soup? Is it just chicken and noodles?" He asked her, looking to her curiously.

Tillie listened to him carefully, nodding and understanding as well as looking for any other words she could correct him on. "Well, I can see how it can be very difficult there." she replied, as well as correcting him on a word he had trouble on. "I'm sorry." It made her giggle then that he didn't know what chicken noodle soup was. "Actually...that's basically what it is. It's really good though. People mostly eat it when their sick, but I eat it whenever I feel like it!" she explained excitedly to him. "But...if that's not the soup your mom is making, then what kind of soup is Chinese soup?"

"Oh, yeah, very difficult." He corrected himself with a chuckle. "Um.. It will have a lot of vegetable, maybe a little um... spicy?" He warned, furrowing his eyebrows as he tried to figure out what kind of soup his mom was making without actually getting a good look at it. "She like to make soup with a lot of health bene.. uh.. benefit?" He explained, tilting his head to the side as he tried to say the word. "So probably ginseng, lot of green vegetable, and... also chicken and white rice." He explained, listing his mother's usual ingredients on his fingers.

Tillie giggled with a small nod. "Ohh, spicy? I'm not too into spicy stuff. But as long as I have a big glass of water or something, I should be good." she told him in all seriousness. She nodded again, letting JuLong know he spoke his next word correctly as she added in a quick, "good job" to him before letting him continue on with the list of ingredients. "Oo~ I love chicken and white rice." she licked her lips at that statement, already feeling hungry just thinking about it. She rubbed her stomach a bit before letting out another soft giggle. "Now I'm gonna be hungry a lot sooner than I thought." she laughed.

JuLong smiled, laughing as she mentioned needing a big glass of water. "On the way back, if you want, we can get you some milk. I don't think there is any at home." He told her. He rubbed his own stomach. "I'm also very hungry..." He said with a laugh. He bit his lip, knowing the real reason he was hungry was because withdrawals had him sleeping all day and he had only eaten a bit of sweet bread earlier that day. He hesitated saying all that to Tillie though, instead sticking with a simpler, "I didn't eat all day," and letting out a small chuckle.

"Okay!" Tillie told him simply, liking the idea. "I heard milk helps get rid of the spiciness more than water does, anyway." she said as a matter of fact, now more skipping down the sidewalk than walking. She knew that she only skipped when she was really really happy. And she guessed that was JuLong's doing. Even if they had that little incident back at the house, Tillie was a very forgiving person most of the time. "You didn't eat all day??" she asked, shocked, which stopped her from skipping down the road. "Why didn't you eat, silly goose?"

JuLong smiled, nodding as she stated the fact, "I heard (that) too." He agreed with a small mutter, He let himself pick up his pace to his normal walking (as opposed to the "there is someone practically half my height" walking he tended to do with his sister and Tillie) so he could keep up with his girlfriend, but slowed down again as she asked why he hadn't eaten all day. He bit his lip, then decided to just continue giving nearly-true reasons, "I was sleep(ing) all day." He told her with a small chuckle.

"You were sleeping?" She repeated, both teasing and correcting him at the same time, with a small cute giggle added to it of course. "So you didn't even have breakfast? That's not good..." she said again, shaking her head at him, though still keeping her smile on her face for him. She looked up again, noticing they were already nearing the beach, as they just passed the beach sign and all. She even began her skipping again, showing her excitement. "Mmm~ I can smell the ocean already!" she sighed, inhaling the fresh scent of ocean breeze. "You're gonna love the beach, JuLong." she promised.

JuLong nodded, both in response to her question as well as to show he understood the correction. As the beach came into view, he couldn't help but get excited as well, practically running circles around Tillie until falling onto the sand, laughing. He played with the sand, throwing it up so it practically rained down on him. "The beach is real pretty~!" He told his girlfriend, laying down in the sand. He was convinced it had magical powers of some sort-his exhaustion was gone and he was feeling better than he had in weeks. He picked up a handful of sand, watching it fall between his fingers, mesmerized by it. "I really like it!" He told, looking up to Tillie.
