Zane took a long brain freeze inducing sip of his milkshake and shook it and the tears off. "I um, how do you think Riverside High is going to be? I mean they have the middle school kids in there with us, that's going to be a big culture shock." He hoped this subject would create less tears as opposed to home life and hurricane related topics. He really wanted to avoid talking about Ryan as much as possible and for as long as possible, and they kept getting dangerously close to it. He wouldn't be able to hold back the tears then.

Tally shrugged at his question. "I don't know. It won't be the same, that's for sure," she said softly, not really sure of how everything would happen now. "At least we don't have to deal with Elsie and Thalia in class. Gracie saw on the news that Thalia died..." She shrugged, not really sure if it was okay to be happy about that. She really hadn't wanted her dead, just far away from her and the people she cared about. She took a deep breath. "Yeah, and the middle school kids will be all over the place too."

Zane smiled. "Well, I suppose that's good news, even though it's unfortunate for her and her family." He really didn't care, he was off the hook, even if Elsie was still alive and kicking, it was her word against his that anything happened, and he had an alibi, Avery would lie for him and say they were at his house playing a video game at the time of the incident, but that wouldn't be necessary. "I'm not really looking forward to that, but we should have a solid baseball team for the rest of the season." He shrugged. "I doubt any of us will actually get to play because we're being combined with the already existing team, but hey, next year should be good."

Tally smiled and nodded at him, "Yeah... Unfortunate," she said, trying to be nice and not curse the deceased. She nodded again as he talked about the baseball team. "Maybe not... You guys beat Riverside in that game. Maybe the coach will play you guys instead. You're better than them, right? I guess you're minus a few players, though..." She tried not to think about the players that were gone. She swallowed and looked back up at him. "I'll still come even if you don't play."

Zane smiled, she was good at making him feel better when he was down. "You're right, maybe we will get a little time in, would really suck for the seniors going for baseball scholarships if they didn't get to play for the rest of the season." He shrugged, as far as he could remember, only Avery was graduating this year, and he wasn't looking for a scholarship. "I think watching a bunch of guys you don't know play baseball would suck. I mean it's alright when they're professional, but if we don't get to play, I wouldn't want to torture you by having you sit through it just because I'm on the bench." He kissed her hand. "I could always meet you somewhere after the game like we used to do after North Ridge's games."

Tally nodded, agreeing that it would suck if they couldn't play, even though Avery was the only senior and didn't need any scholarships. "It would suck for anyone, I mean, I'd much rather watch you play..." She smiled and shook her head lightly. "No, I want to go. Gracie will want to go too, we'll just go together." She looked over at him and smiled. "Besides, if I wait too long after you might not be as sweaty," she said with a giggle and a wink.

Zane laughed. "If I'm just sitting on the bench I doubt I'll be sweating very much anyway." He stirred the milkshake and spooned some into his mouth. "Anyhow I'm not worried about it. I'll find something else that will get me sweaty for you." He winked. "Have any ideas?" He asked.

Tally giggled lightly. She shrugged and shook her head lightly, "I don't know what else you could do. Maybe we could play tag again..." She giggled again and took a drink of her milkshake. "But you have to get sweaty before I do anything more than kiss you. After baseball games at least."

Zane pouted. "I don't think I like the sound of that." He squeezed her hand. "Weren't you just trying to rouse me beneath the table with you foot?" He gave her a funny look and then laughed. "So you're serious about this huh?"

Tally laughed lightly, "Sure I was, but this isn't after a baseball game where I'm expecting you to be sweaty afterward." She put her foot on his ankle again and rubbed the side of his leg lightly. "Right now, though, I don't care if you're sweaty, although I wouldn't complain if you were..."

Zane grinned. "You saved yourself with that one." He laughed. "I don't know how I can get myself all sweaty unless I run home, but if I did that, I'd be too tired to even lift a finger, you know." He laughed. "So, are we just talking crap, or are we doing something tonight?"

Tally laughed softly at him, "Well we definitely don't want that to happen. I kind of like your fingers..." She winked at him with a grin, shrugging at his question. "I don't know... I mean, I suppose if you want to we can go park where we did last time and get a little work done..." She looked up at the ceiling suggestively before she looked back down to Zane's eyes.

Zane laughed. "See I wasn't even thinking about that, but yes, you do like my fingers." He shook his head, the smile disappearing from his face, he wasn't really sure what she meant. "You mean drive out to the lake? Like the lake here, or the lake..." He shook his head, he wasn't going back to the old town.

Tally grinned as he confirmed her like of his fingers and furrowed her brow as his smile disappeared. She hadn't thought about that, really, and her smile faded too. She sighed lightly. "I'm sorry... I didn't think about that. I kind of feel like nothing's changed sometimes, just because it feels better to forget..." She licked her lips and swallowed. "Yeah, the lake here... It's just as good..." Although she knew she'd kind of ruined it now.

Phew! Zane's smile returned. "I think you're right, it is just as good and I understand where you would get that it feels like nothing has changed. The town isn't that much different from the old one." He shrugged. "So have I killed the mood?"
