Anne's eyes widened slightly. "Really, now? Even Basketball? That's the sport I play, even now, when I'm not skating." she told, feeling she was bragging a bit, when they were clearly talking about him. She cleared her throat, as if apologizing for bragging about herself again. "So..uh, what happened? I mean, I can imagine you being pretty epic in these sports...was that when...." she felt she didn't need to finish her sentence, like he already knew what she was gonna ask.

Eli smiled when she mentioned that she played basketball too. Yet another similarity they had, it was kind of odd that they happened to run into each other that day, and ended up having so much in common. Basketball wasn't his favorite, but he did play when he had people to play with. Sometimes he would just go and shoot hoops late at night, when nobody else was around. Eli looked down for a moment when she spoke her next words, before looking up again. He had to face it in order to get over it, right? "We were on our way home from one of my games when it happened." Eli said. "Me and my sister were fighting about something, it seems so trivial now, you know?"

Anne grinned slightly in return, glad to know they had something else in common. She was just hoping he would be brave enough to tell the rest of his story with her. And sure enough, he did. When he got towards the end, she frowned even more so than before. "Oh. Well, damn...I'm sorry. It's like it seems so small, but when you think about it...it's, well, it's not. You know what I mean?" she hoped he did, she wasn't even sure she made any sense just then. "I mean, I don't wanna say losing my family was worse, even if I still believe it is...but your story still sounds just as...permanent." she shrugged.

Eli had only told her some of the story, the things he dealt with were actually far far worse. It went beyond a simple car accident, it was far from instant. The things he saw haunted his dreams and every waking thought for months. He just shrugged in response, maybe her story was worse. Who was he to judge that? Pain was pain. "I guess so." He shoved his hands in his pockets and looked away from her. He didn't know what is was about her that made him open up so much, and to be honest, it confused the hell out of him. Part of him just wanted to revert back to his old ways of isolation, it was so much easier. "Do you think I should try out for the baseball team again?"

Anne couldn't help but take in a closer look at Eli's face then. She could tell how he was feeling. He had the same face she had on when she went through her nightmare. Anne hasn't even told Eli about her own past, and here he was, telling her what happened to him. She felt bad now. She managed to pull up a wider smile then when he directed his next question to her. "Oh, most definitely! I'd even go to your games if you wanted me to. It would be the least I could do since you would be coming to my skate competitions." she grinned, looking down at the table where her hands were now, twiddling with her fingers.

Anne's response made Eli smile. There was no doubt that if he were to get back onto the field, it would be very hard for him. Not just to get in shape physically, but to actually step onto a field again. He hadn't even been to one since that night. He didn't participate in the last game of that season either. As hard as it was for him to admit, he would need all of the support he could get. "That would be awesome, actually." He told her. It wasn't often that he admitted that he needed help and he could tell her how much it would mean to have someone there that would route him on, that didn't remind him of his parents. "I think I'm going to do it."
