It took Tillie a little time to translate what he had just said, since he spoke it a bit fast. She got it a few seconds later though, and just let out a laugh in return. "Well, not unless the conversation is about nature stuff, right?" she giggled, looking back around all the trees and bushes they were passing by, as if one of them would give her an idea of how to continue their conversation. "Um.." she looked back to Henri again, "Eh bien, pour une journée froide, il semble vraiment sympa. Les arbres sont ... jolie?(Well, for a cold day, it seems really nice. The trees are...pretty?)" she let out a hesitant chuckle in the end, not really sure what his response to be to that. The trees are pretty? Surely I can do better than that... Tillie sighed at that thought, biting her lip slightly.

Henri chuckled as well, looking around and giving a small nod. "Je suppose que (I suppose)." He replied simply, letting in a cold breath and then exhaling. "Vous aimez la nature (Do you like nature)?" He asked her curiously. "I found you by the lake after all." He said with a laugh.

Tillie kept her neck tucked into her shoulders for a bit until he asked her another question. She perked her head up slightly, answering back slowly, "J'aime le plein air.(I like the outdoors.)" she managed to bring back her smile. "I mean, other than video games, I prefer to spend my time outside." she shrugged.

Henri nodded, thinking it over. "Seems like fun." He replied, looking around. It was actually pretty nice around here. "I like the outdoors, but I don't get out often. A shame, really..."

"Really? Well then its a good thing you have me here." she giggled. "Except for maybe at night, I'm almost always outside. People watching mostly, like from up in trees or something.."

"Sounds like stalking to me." Henri teased her, sticking out his tongue afterwords to show he was joking. "I like drawing people, so I aim for people who don't seem like they'll be moving for a while."

Tillie's jaw dropped in shock at Henri's comment. Though, she knew he was just playing, and stuck her tongue out at him, too. "Well, what other exciting thing is there to do for a loner like me? Besides draw and play video games I mean...." she laughed, feeling giddy again.

Henri thought a moment before shaking his head, "Not much else, I suppose. It was ironically easier to be more social for me in Korea than in France or the U.S. I tend to stick to family around here." He admitted. "Listening to music? Swimming in the lake?" He tried.

"I see." Tillie nodded, giving a slight sigh in the end. "Wish I could go somewhere out of the US." she said in more of a pout, as she tucked her chin in on her chest. She perked her head up then at the mention of his ideas. "Oo, I've tried swimming in the lake. It's pretty nice, actually. But most of the time I've been there, other kids were there. And I prefer to just lay on my back and relax rather than getting splashed and kicked..." she shrugged.

Henri nodded in understanding. "I've seen so much River Monsters on Netflix, I don't trust lakes or rivers anymore." He told her, only joking slightly. "and Shark Week confirmed I'm only going to swim in pools from now on." He added. He thought about his time outside the U.S. "It's different... moving to a new country is a big change, and you need to be able to adapt quickly or you'll hate it." He told her, shoving his hands into his pockets.

Tillie gave a light laugh, which soon grew just a tad louder. "Really? I don't really go in pools much at all, though." she shrugged. "They're normally filled with even more kids that splash and scream even more than the kids at the lake." she giggled slightly, shrugging her shoulders as well. She smiled at his next statement then. "I can adapt to new places well. I mean, I've been to about three other foster homes before finding this permanent one..." she wasn't sure if she should of told him that, but it was too late now. And she would just have to keep her head up about it.

Henri laughed, "True, but the gym back in the apartment building my family lived in while we were in Korea was nice, and barely anyone used it. I guess I was more thinking of a private pool." He laughed again, "Even though I've never had one myself." He looked to her, eyes wide in curiosity. "So you're adopted? Wow, daebak (awesome*)." He said, looking back in front of them. "It's nothing like actually be adopted, but my step-mom 'adopted' me after her and dad got married." He told her, figuring if she was willing to share something so personal, he could also share something one might consider personal, though he didn't care anymore.
((*daebak literally means "it's a hit" but people tend to use it like "that's awesome" or "cool."))

"Hm...really now?" she said, feeling intrigued again. "Having a private pool wouldn't be too bad, actually." she added in, thinking to herself what it would be like to live that kind of life with a private pool and a huge house and lots of money and everything. The more she thought about it though, the more she knew she would be miserable in such a life. Their wouldn't be as much freedom, to her. She grinned at Henri again when he mentioned something a bit personal from his own life. That made her feel better, that he could be just as open about his life as she could with hers. "Some people, like some of my siblings in the house, would prefer not to talk about it. But I really have nothing to hide because I never really knew my parents in the first place." she explained freely. "My mom died after giving birth to me and I have no idea what happened to my dad. So, I don't really have any memories like the others do." she shrugged, not letting it effect her in anyway though.

Henri nodded in understanding, he used to be the same way about his own mom. "My mother passed away when I was around five or six." He explained to her, looking at her with a smile. He didn't really remember her anymore outside of stories his dad had told him, and it was hard to miss someone you didn't remember. "Then when I was twelve, that was when we moved to Korea, and my dad met my step-mom, and well, as they say, the rest is history." He said with a small chuckle at the end. "I think it's good to be honest with yourself. If I just said I had a mom and a dad, I'd be lying. I'd think it'd be the same way if you're adopted. If you ignore that, you're ignoring a big part of yourself." He rambled, biting his lip as he realized he was doing so.

Tillie nodded as she listened to him tell his own story. Her smile faded slightly, but only so much that half a smile still remained. "Well, at least you still have your dad. And I'm sure your step-mom loves you just as much as your dad does. I mean, if she didn't, then I don't think she would of married your dad in the first place, you know?" she said, kicking a rock out of the pathway. "The other three homes I've lived in weren't at all that bad. It's just different things come up at different times. One of the homes I was in, the caretaker got laid-off and after a while, she didn't have enough money to take care of me or some of the other foster kids anymore. It doesn't really bother me too much though. It just means I get to explore around another new town and meet new people." she smiled back.
