Abigail didn't know how exactly she wound up on the bridge. You know that one that's in the middle of the gigantic park in the middle of town, kind of isolated? You know the one, it's the one that allows the park goers to make it across the river that runs through Riverside. Even more so, she had no idea where she got the bottle of vodka she held loosely in her cold hand. It was the beginning of autumn here in the small town, and a chill was already starting to develop. Abby didn't really care though, especially not right now, as she wobbled along the edge of that bridge. It was stupid, reckless even, to do what she was doing right now. And to do it drunk, and in heels? Yeah, that was utterly insane. Not to mention underage drinking in public.
You see, usually Abigail Miller was put together. She got good grades, partied in moderation, even volunteered at animal and homeless shelters. The girl was golden, and it seemed that she had everything she wanted. This wasn't the truth though, you see, Abby had a secret. Tonight, she had no cares. So what if she walked in on her boyfriend cheating on her? So what if the girl he was fucking was her best friend? So what if they had been doing it for months? So fucking what. It wasn't until she had walked the bridge a few times that it finally hit her. Was she not good enough for him? Wasn't she supposed to be her best friend? Maybe I'm dysfunctional. I mean, why wouldn't he just break up with me? I always knew she would turn out to be a skank. That doesn't help though. I think I need to pee. Woah, careful there Abby. Not once though, did she ever stop to think about the fact that he never really had feelings for her in the first place. To him, she was just arm candy. Maybe I should dye my hair? She scoffed, shaking her head. Normally, this would the point at which she just laughs at herself, but not this time. This time she was distracted and lost her footing on that ledge, next thing she knew, that bottle was flying out of her hand. All she saw was the reflection of the moon on the dark water below her, as she teetered on the edge. This could go one of two ways for Abby, the question was, which would it be?

Shane slowly walked down the path of the park, one hand in the pocket of his jacket, the other flickering his lighter on and off. He was headed from his sisters new apartment to his house, but he'd decided to take the long way and go through the park. It was pretty empty considering the time of night, but that was too be expected. Not that Shane minded, in fact he actually preferred that nobody was out, he wasn't much of a people person. That being said, it kind of surprised him when he noticed a someone walking along the bridge across from him. The person was obviously drunk with the way they were wobbling, and Shane could tell it was a girl, considering she had on heels. He paused a bit when she teetered, but shook his head and continued walking. Not my problem if they fall. Dumbass should know better. Shane didn't get very far though, when they bottle that had been in the girl's hand suddenly crashed in front of him. Shane wouldn't have reacted, only the liquid in that bottle happened to be alcohol, and said alcohol managed to splash and make contact with the lighter in Shane's hand, causing the fire to flare up for a moment. "Oh, what the hell?!" Shane growled, turning to the girl, who looked like she was going to fall. "Watch what the fuck you're doing! You could've killed me back there!"

Abby grabbed onto a pillar quickly to keep herself from falling. She was momentarily stunned by her near-fall, and blinked a few times, looking down at the water quickly. When the flame from the boy's light flared though, her eyes darted to it quickly. What the hell was that? She didn't realize, at first, that she was the reason for it. It wasn't until he yelled at her that Abby saw the broken bottle on the ground and the lighter in his hand. His words didn't register in her mind, but his angry tone did, and in her state of mind, that wasn't good. Angry males had would probably cause the poor girl to flip out. Abby looked down at him from her perch on the wall, her eyes narrowed in his direction. She didn't feel any sorrow in that moment, she just had irrational anger. It wasn't supposed to be directed towards him, but he was the only one there to receive it.

"What?" Shane snapped when the girl did nothing but stand there. He wasn't even angry at the fact that his fire had flared up, moreso to the fact that the girl wasn't saying anything. "Are you just gonna fucking stand there and not saying anything? Not even to apologize?" He didn't wait for a reply, shaking his head and sticking his hand in his pocket. "If you're gonna jump, then do it. Don't just stand on the fucking ledge throwing bottles wherever the hell you please."

As the boy continued to speak, Abigail grew more and more angry. Though, at his last statement, she broke a little. Do I intend to jump? She looked down for a moment, before looking down at the water once again. It was a pretty long drop, the water was pretty low this time of year. I doubt I'll be missed. She shook her head minutely, she wasn't really thinking clearly. The alcohol she had consumed was clouding her thoughts and sense of judgement. Abby got down from the ledge carefully, taking a step closer to the boy. For now, the anger was hiding her pain. "Who the fuck do you think you are?" She asked him, the anger in her voice palpable. "Don't act like you're all high and mighty because you aren't." She pushed her finger into his chest. "And you know what? Don't you dare act like you know my life." She stepped away from him, her voice cracking at the end of her rant. "Because you don't." She turned to once again look at the ledge, sniffling. She was angry that her emotions were finally winning over, and a stranger was there to witness it. "You d-don't know a god damned thing."

Shane was ready to walk away from the crazy girl, but she'd begun walking towards him, causing him to pause when she started talking. "Who do I think I am?" Now that she was in his face, he could smell the alcohol on her breath. Something told him to calm down and not blow up at the girl, but being Shane he immediately ignored that something. "I think I'm the guy who you almost fucking killed." He didn't respond to her next comment, instead grabbing her wrist as soon as she started jabbing his chest. "Who said I knew your life? You were the one who was standing on the ledge, not me. I don't need to know your fucking life." He released her wrist when he heard her voice crack, turning away before the tears started. If there was one thing that could make Shane lose an argument, that thing would be girls crying. He hated seeing girls cry. "You know what, I don't fucking care. I don't have time to stand here and argue with a drunk girl who has nothing better to do that stand on ledge's debating on whether or not they're going to jump." He began walking away again when she turned away from him. "If you're going to fucking jump, don't do it with a perfectly good bottle of alcohol in your hand. It's a fucking waste."

If she had been thinking rationally, Abigail would have understood that what he had said was completely and utterly true. But it didn't do anything but feed her growing helpless thoughts of being worthless. He was right, he had no obligation to care about a stranger. Though, if it had been him in that situation, she would had dropped anything to try and help him. That was just who she was. Now, she wasn't thinking about all of the consequences of what she was debating on doing. The words of the stranger sliced into her battered self esteem, rendering it nonexistent in her inebriated state. She should have care what he thought, but she did, even though it was ridiculous. "Maybe you're right." She said quietly to his back, turning her head to watch his head as he walked away. The tears began to fall as he left her, now completely alone, surrounded by the smell of alcohol.

Shane didn't get very far away when his phone began buzzing in his pocket. "What?" He answered when he saw it was Naomi. "Shane, you left you're keys at my house." Shane sighed. "I'll come get them in the morning. I don't feel like going home anyway."
"Why, what's wrong?" Shane sighed again. "Some fucking girl is drunk on the ledge of the bridge at the park. I argued with her and now I'm irritated." "WHAT?" Shane winced from Naomi's sudden yell. "Shane? You just left her?"
"Hell yeah. What the hell was I supposed to do?"
"Stay and make sure she doesn't jump Shane!" Shane scoffed, shaking his head, even though she couldn't see. "I'm not gonna stay and make sure nothin. If she wants to jump that's her own damn problem. Look, I'll talk to you later. See ya." Shane hung up his phone without waiting for a reply, sticking it back in his pocket.

Once the boy was out of sight, Abigail looked down at the water. She felt so alone and hopeless, this would probably go down as one of the worst day's of her life. And even worse, tomorrow was the anniversary... The anniversary of her sister's death. Abby barely live through it the first time, she didn't know if she could do it again. She climbed up on the ledge, shaking and crying. She looked up at the starry night sky. "I'm sorry, Cor." She sobbed, speaking to her dead sister. Abigail knew that she couldn't hear her, but she didn't care. She had sobered up now, her adrenaline pushing the drunkenness away. "I just cant do it anymore." The wind whipped her hair around her head, and with a shaky hand she moved it away. Abigail looked a mess crying up on that ledge, the cold air biting at her skin with her make up running down her cheeks. With another shaky breath, she let her slip off the edge, flying towards the water.

"Ugh, I don't even know why I had to be the one to bring this too her." Shane grumbled as he walked down the dorm all towards his sister Azalia's room. "I wasn't even home two seconds before mom shoved the freaking package in my hand." After the whole incident with the girl last night, Shane hadn't bothered to go home. For some reason he couldn't stop thinking about whether or not the girl had jumped. And it was pissing him off. Why the fuck should I care? It's not my problem if the girl was a lunatic. Still, that didn't stop him from thinking about her. Shaking his head, Shane finally reached the room and knocked on the door, not bothering to check if it was already open.

Abigail couldn't deny that she was particularly relieved when she popped up from that freezing cold water and she was still alive. Sure, she had a few minor scrapes and a few purple hues bruises pop up a few hours later, but she was alive. That didn't mean she didn't feel like utter shit. She had to have cried in the shower for at least an hour when she made it back to her dorm, and her roommate, Azalia, had come back early that morning, only to leave again to hang out with her boyfriend before he left on tour. Abigail didn't think she noticed how messed up she was at this point. She was now alone in her dorm room, clutching her comforter tightly around her, as if to shield herself from the outside world. When someone knocked on the door, she flinched at the noise, he head threatening to pound out of her skull and burrowed further into the covers. Abby just wanted to ignore the person on the other side, no matter who they were. The tears stung at her eyes once again she closed them as tight as she could, she didn't want to cry anymore. She had cried enough.

Shane sighed, setting the box on the ground. He didn't have time for this. He knocked on the door once more before checking to see if it was open. "Of course it is." He muttered when the knob turned and the door swung open. He didn't notice anyone was in there at first, as he had turned around to grab the box. Once Shane turned back to the door though, he froze when he saw the girl from last night sitting on the bed. He didn't say anything, just walked into the room and placed Lia's box onto her bed.

Abigail's eyes popped open when the door to her room swung open, it wasn't like they ever locked it anyway, but it still surprised her. When she saw who it was, though, it was her jaw that dropped slightly, her lips parting in a small 'o'. The guy from the night before was standing in her dorm room, but she knew he couldn't possibly be there to see her, that was for sure. Abby swallowed and watched him, the shame of what she had done clouding her thought for yet another countless time that morning. She felt obligated to say something to him, but she had no idea what that something was. "I... uh." She said, watching him. Abby dropped the comforter she had been holding around her, and wiped a stray tear off of her check. Great... he probably thinks I'm fucking insane. "I just wanted to apologize, you know, for..." She looked away for a moment. "The vodka thing last night, it was an accident." Abigail was completely and utterly confused as to why she was even talking to the guy when she was sure all he wanted to do was get out of there. She was nothing to him, just some crazy girl with problems he had nothing to do with.

Shane was about to walk out of the room, still not noticing the girl sitting there until she began speaking. He paused at the door, his face in a frown as he tried to figure out why he recognized that voice. He turned slowly, his face not changing when he saw who it was. Of course she would happen to be my sister's roommate. Lovely, absolutely lovely. Shane wasn't listening to a word she was saying as he took in her rather...gross condition, looking away after a while when he noticed her brushing away a tear. Damn tears. "Did you jump?" He asked when she was done talking.

Abby looked up from her lap and stared at him, as if trying to figure him out, not that she had any business doing so in the first place. She had enough issues as it was, she didn't need to complicate his life as well. She gave a sad smile after a moment. "Does it really matter?" She asked neutrally, not really expecting an answer from him. It wasn't like he had any reason to care about some girl stupid enough to do it. "It's not like you know me or anything, right?" Abigail brought her hands up to work her blonde hair into a ponytail and winced at the pain in her side, it had been bothering her all morning. She sighed, wrapping the hair tie around her hair before dropping her arms again. "Anyway, I don't mean to be so negative." She said, looking at him again. "Life has just been dealing me a lot of bad cards lately. Not that it matters to you anyway." She wasn't rude with her words, only stating the facts. For some reason, she felt the need to say that to him, most likely because he looked so annoyed to be there talking to her.
