Xander had spent most of the night wide awake; he was exhausted beyond belief but that didn't mean his brain wanted to shut off. All he could think about was Jordan Collins and how she had been the only thing on his mind for the past few weeks.
He had gone home after going back to the beach house to clean up. But as soon as he slid into his bed, ready for sleep to take over, all he could see was her eyes and her fiery hair. To say that he had a sleepless night was a pretty exact summation of his night activities. School had been exhausting but with his caffeine intake he had survived. He had only a few minutes t go home and drop off his things; changing into a gray long sleeved shirt, jeans and a pair of old sneakers before he was out the door once again, his brown leather jacket slung over his shoulder.
Xander wasn't sure what she wanted to do but if it meant spending time with Jordan, he didn't care if he was outside in the cold weather. He took his time in driving to her school, parking near the entrance to wait patiently for her to come out.
The school bell rung as if on cue and he saw his little sister, Jackie, skipping merrily out the entrance. He quirked a curious brow at her get-up: a plain gray tank top tucked into a rainbow colored tutu, dark leggings and sneakers adorning her legs and feet. She had a matching jacket on to ward the cold. Though she did look ridiculous, the look suited her in a way that only Jackie could pull off. She made her way to his car and got in the passenger seat, maneuvering so she could hug him and kiss him on the cheek. "Hello big brother; are you picking up your girlfriend today?"
Xander chuckled as she pulled away, a coy smile on her elfin features as if she knew what he had done with Collins the night before (knowing Jackie, she probably did know what they did). "Yeah; I'm waiting for her as you can obviously see." Jackie laughed, a sound that was like chiming bells before she got out of the car. "Alright; tell me how your date goes! Don't forget to use protection!" And she was off again before her brother could respond to her suggestive comment. His cheeks flushed in embarrassment as he muttered soft complaints about nosy little sisters.

Collins found it unreasonably hard to keep her attention on anything other than Xander through out the day, only managing to coax herself into concentrating long enough to take the big test that had required her to depart so soon from Xander the night before. Once the test was over, she gave up trying to focus, and stared blankly at the chalkboard for the remainder of the school day. The only thing that seemed to change by the last period was the direction of her staring, during the last period the chalkboard was replaced with the clock on the wall and the only thing to break her from her trance was the bell. She gathered her things and fell into step with her peer, making her way to her locker. She stuffed everything inside, checked her hair in the magnetic mirror and then started toward the exit, where she expected to find Xander waiting for her.
She almost made it, she could see Xander's car through the class wndows, but a fight broke out and cut her off, dozens of students crowded around completely blocking her from the exit and then someone grabbed her from behind. She swung around to find Grady. "God, you almost got your head knocked off." Grady let go instantly. "If we go through the gym we can get around this mess." Collins gave her cousin a hug and let him lead her back through the halls to the gym. "You mumbled something about your date with Xander at lunch and I heard about this fight last period, I didn't want you to get caught up in the middle of it, you can thank me later." Grady said as they came around the corner and they stood briefly in front of the school watching the scene unfold with Jackie and Xander in the car. "She's so cute." Grady said, though the expression on his face afterward revealed that he didn't mean to say that out loud. "Awe, you have a crush on Jackie, that's cute. Thanks for getting me out, I just might have to repay you, I'll see if I can't get the two of you together or something." She clapped him on the back and approached the car from the driver's side just as Jackie was getting out and made Xander blush. Collins quickly adjusted her bright green peacoat and tapped on the window.

Once Jackie got out of the car, she spun to see Grady and Collins watching her and Xander. She waved at the two of them, giving Grady a toothy smile. "Hey guys!" She turned on her heel to head down the parking lot to find her own car.
Xander cleared his throat and rolled down his window to grin at Collins. "Why hello there beautiful. How was your test?" He wanted to confess to her that he had been unable to focus all day because of his fiery haired friend.

Grady remained completely still when Jackie waved, only coming out of his temporary paralysis when she turned to head to her car. "Hi." He said waving feebly and uselessly at her back. He ran his hand down his face, completely embarrassed that he'd frozen in front of her. He took off in the other direction to avoid further embarrassment, leaving Collins alone with Xander.
"What test?" Collins asked leaning through the window and kissing him on the lips before walking around to get in the car. "Oh, yeah, the test, I think I passed it." She buckled her seat belt. "I'm just glad it was in the beginning of the day because I honestly couldn't stop myself from thinking about you for the rest of the day. If any of my teachers give us a test on today's lessons on Monday, I'm going to be Christmas treeing the answers."

Xander couldn't help but smile as she stole a kiss from him which he eagerly reciprocated. Once she had pulled away and moved to the passenger seat, he turned towards her to give Collins a proper kiss. "Hmm, well I feel a bit bad about your lack of focus seeing as I was partially to blame but you weren't the only one. I couldn't stop thinking about you either." He paused so he could look at her, grinning. "So where would the lovely lady like to go?"

Collins pulled out of his proper kiss biting her bottom lip. She bit harder when she realized that she'd been an equal distraction for him throughout the day as well. "This is just an unfortunate side effect of our awesomeness." She took a deep breath and looked out the window. "I don't know, we could go anywhere or maybe we should just go back to where we left off last night?" She wasn't sure if that was inappropriate or not.

Xander chuckled softly and nodded. "Well, why don't we get some proper nourishment first before we decide on that? Fancy a cheeseburger and a milkshake from Palmer's?" He confessed he was sorely tempted to drive them in a hurry back to the beach house to kiss every part of her body and hold her close and not let go. But prudish Xander still wanted to take it slow. He scratched his head in embarrassment and grinned.

Collins sighed. "I suppose we should get something to help sustain us." She rolled her eyes playfully and searched out his hand to hold. "Palmer's sounds great." She flashed him a huge smile and settled into her seat for the short ride to her best friend's sister's diner. "I wonder if Chelsea is working this afternoon, I haven't talked to her in a little while. Some best friend I am. Have you met her boyfriend Bo?"

Xander pulled away, keeping her hand in his as he started the car and pulled out of the school; driving to Palmer's diner. He chuckled at her comment. "Why don't you hang out with her more often? And yeah I think I met him during the picnic?" The drive was pretty uneventful and they were able to get to Palmer's without delay. Xander parked near the entrance and shut off the car, pocketing his keys and undoing his seatbelt so he could get out and open the door for Collins.

Collins shrugged. "I don't know since she started at the University and I my senior year there hasn't been a lot of simultaneous free time. Next year will be easier we'll both be attending University and with any luck we'll have a few classes together despite our completely different majors. That's right I forgot you met him at the picnic, did I mention I'm extremely forgetful?" During the rest of the ride she was quiet thinking she might have to pay a visit to her friend sometime this weekend and fill her in on all the exciting events of the last couple days. "Thanks." She said when he opened the door for her. "You're such a gentleman." She kissed his cheek as she got out and shouldered her purse, noticing out the corner of her eye that Chelsea's car was parked in a corner of the diner parking lot. "I'll at least get to say hi to Chelsea to day."

Xander grinned as she kissed his cheek, using the time to wrap his arms around her trim waist. "Well, I try..." He glanced at Chelsea's car and smiled. "Well that's great. Why don't we go say hi now?" Girl gossip worried him though; what would Collins say to her? He hoped she wouldn't mention last night to her; it was embarrassing and the mere thought made him blush as they made their way to the warm interior of the diner.

"Sounds like a plan, it'd be awfully rude of me to go in and not say hi to her at all." She tucked her hand into his back pocket as they entered the diner. "They're really busy." She spotted an empty booth near the kitchens and pointed it out to Xander. "Or would you rather we just order to go?" She didn't mind one way or the other.

He slid into the booth and fell silent, thinking of his options. They could get their food to go and they could go back to the beach house. But then again, Collins could talk to Chelsea which she hadn't done in a while. He shook his head, "We have time; we can eat here. Besides; she'll have to come talk to us to take our order right?" Collins probably wouldn't make a big deal about it but Xander had a feeling she missed her best friend more than she let on.

Collins slid in next to him and reached for his hand. "I don't mind getting it to go. I really can just talk to her this weekend." She gave his hand a squeeze. "Talk to who this weekend?" Chelsea asked, setting to glasses of water on the table. "Hey Xander, how are ya?" She gave Collins a hug and sat down across from them, glancing at her sister behind the counter.

Xander squeezed her hand gently and smiled as Chelsea popped up out of nowhere. "Hi Chelsea; I'm good. How's Bo?" This was probably only the second time that he spoke to her but for some reason, he didn't feel so embarrassed. Maybe Collins and her confidence with people was beginning to rub off on him.
He took a sip of his water and leaned back into the booth, watching the two friends. Xander was glad that Chelsea had sat down; at least now she and Collins could converse for at least a little bit.
