PAST
Rachael’s life was perfect, as most would say. She had great parents who supported her for her music choice, and bought her a brand new furnished guitar to help her get to her dream goal. She lived the rich life in England. She was spoiled, but she didn’t brag about it. She would spend hours in her room practicing on her guitar, and writing new music. When she wasn’t locked up in her room, she would be either at school, or with her friends. Now even though everyone tells her how perfect her life is, she denies it. For her first two boyfriends she’s had, weren’t exactly the best choices, especially the second one. Just a week after her sixteenth birthday, Rachael had caught him cheating on her with one of the cheerleaders under the school bleachers. She was heartbroken after that, being the emotional girl that she was. She started playing nothing but sad songs on her guitar, only to make her feel worse about herself. And surprisingly, her parents weren’t all that nurturing about her recent break-up. They repeatedly just told her to get over it, he wasn’t worth her time, yada yada. And that was true...but Rachael thought they could've at least been the least bit concerned for her love life. They didn’t exactly know how to handle emotional people like Rachael. The only thing they knew how to do, was buy her stuff she wanted.
And then, a year later, she met Antony. Oh, he was perfect for her. He was in the Airforce, which only concerned her slightly. She knew he was doing it for their country, and she was proud of him for that. But, she also knew that the day he gets deployed would come. And sure enough it did. They had one last date before he left, and during that date, they made a promise to each other that when he came back, he would get her out of her parents house and they would travel the world, letting Rachael continue her music dream. Rachael never forgot that promise, even after six months passed. That was when Rachael had gotten the news that Antony was dead. He was gone. Forever. A few more months passed by as Rachael turned nineteen and still remembered that promise she and Antony had promised each other. She decided to keep that promise, and travel the world, by herself.
She knew her parents wouldn’t approve of that. They did support her music dream, but they had always wanted her to stay in the country rather than leaving it. So she ran away. Stealing some of her parents money before grabbing the first flight over to the United States.
The first month didn’t really go as planned for Rachael. She had already spent most of her money on the plane ticket, plus food. She didn’t have enough money to rent herself an apartment, and playing on the streets was harder than she thought. Hardly anyone tipped her. She was about to give up then, when a stranger came walking her way. And she must of starting looking homeless or something, cause the next thing she knew, their small conversation grew over to him asking if she would like to stay with him and his family. Turns out this man adopted orphans, and technically, she would count herself as an orphan now, considering she ran away from home. Ever since then, she has been under the care of Toni and he more so than her parents have been more supportive than ever.
